2015 Hyundai Veloster Encinitas, CA

STRUCTURE:BODY

2015 Hyundai Veloster Turbo (original owner). The vehicle has three severe safety defects: TRUNK/HATCH LATCH FAILURE: The hatchback lift support/latch fails, refusing to stay open. It unexpectedly fell, which has caused repeated, severe impacts to my head and neck, resulting in an injury requiring surgery. I must manually prop it open with a mini ball to load cargo. ENGINE & TURBO FAILURE / OIL CONSUMPTION: History of engine acceleration issues and turbo failures since 4,000 miles. At 44,000 miles, the turbo completely failed, the car started to whine, then rattle, and completely turned off. Dealer (Hyundai Escondido) forced a $2,200 out-of-pocket replacement despite being under warranty, citing a lack of at-home oil change receipts. The vehicle now has a documented, rapid oil leak and excessive consumption issue that the dealer refuses to repair, despite being reported prior to warranty expiration. SEAT BELTS: The front and rear seat belt latches are malfunctioning, intermittently releasing on their own, failing to release properly, or failing to latch securely, compromising the safety of a [XXX] passenger. Glass roof spontaneously shattered. Car was sitting in direct California sun. Nothing touched the roof but heat, the entire panel shattered and the car is undriveable.Thankfully my car was unoccupied at the time. I have heard there had been class action lawsuits in the past regarding this vehicle make and model involving years up to 2018 but models including 2020 like mine have also had complaints reported. Just adding this to the list of complaints filed.

On Tue 6/17 I was driving my 2012 Hyundai Veloster home when the sunroof glass spontaneously exploded (no notifications)then the sound of shattering glass. There were no cars ahead of me and none behind so it was doubtful there was damage done to other people. I did have small chunks of glass fall on me and in the car. Humble Hyundai dealership can't find the recall. I called the main office it's recall campaign # is 108. The dealership said the recall had to be opened back up so they can see it. Otherwise I will be hit with a bill too high for me to handle. Please help asap. Thank you

The car was in Hyundai dealership for 35 days to have a recalls fixed - still showing as no remedy for ABS systems and they said they fixed it ? they had me pick up the car? And but the recall still shows no remedy ? I’m not sure it’s fixed ? and 2 weeks later the transmission goes out while I’m driving again and lose control over the vehicle and stuck on side of road had And Hyundai dealership proceeded to only be concerned on who’s paying for the diagnosis who has been the one fixing the vehicle and I have an extended warranty with Car Max. Car max sold me a car that had rusted brakes and brake lines and several recalls and now the transmission went out . I have expressed to Hyundai and Carmax - The car is not safe .

Passenger front door is inoperative from the exterior. It can only be opened from the inside, which is a safety issue if someone is being followed and needs to quickly enter the vehicle. It is the same issue as NHTSA ID Number: 11286381 that was reported 2.5 years ago, but this is now happening to me and there are several reports of this on Hyundai forums.

2013 Hyundai Veloster at 53,000 miles Lester, PA

STRUCTURE

The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Veloster. The contact stated while driving into a parking lot, a small rock fell on the panoramic sunroof and the sunroof shattered. The contact stated that the shade guard was closed at the time of the failure. There was no injury sustained. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that their location did not perform sunroof glass replacement. The dealer referred the contact to an auto glass repair shop, where the shattered glass was removed. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where pictures of the failure were taken and sent to the manufacturer. The manufacturer informed the dealer that they could not cover the sunroof glass replacement because the moving part of the sunroof glass was not shattered. The contact followed up with the warranty department and was informed that the dealer had denied repairing the vehicle under the warranty because the failure was caused by a rock. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000.

2020 Hyundai Veloster Glen Arm, MD

During cold temperatures (sub 32F), the driver's side door will not open from the outside. Occasionally the passenger door is affected as well. This required crawling through the hatch to open the doors from the inside. When the key fob is actuated you can hear and audible click in the area of the door lock, but it can't be opened. Once the weather warms and the car warms up the doors perform normally. This has never occurred during the warmer months.
