When owners complained
A spike years after the car went on sale usually means a part wearing
out on schedule across the whole fleet — the kind of pattern no single
owner can see from inside their own car.

NHTSA investigations into the 2013 Land Rover Range Rover
An investigation is the step before a recall: the agency has seen enough
complaints to look into a pattern itself. An open one means it thinks
something may be wrong and nothing has been fixed yet.
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. Recalls on the 2013 Land Rover Range Rover
A complaint is one owner's allegation. A recall is the point at which
the manufacturer or a regulator agreed the defect is real and dangerous
enough to fix for free — however old the car is.

LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH
Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2013-2016 Range Rover and 2014-2016 Range Rover Sport vehicles. These vehicles were previously recalled and repaired under Recall 19V-392, however the repair may not have been completed properly. Due to a problem with the Keyless Vehicle Latching System (KV Latch), the doors may appear to be closed but may be unlatched.
Risk: Unlatched doors may open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of a crash.

Risk: The unlatched door may open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of a crash.
15V385000
LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH
Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain model year 2013-2016 Range Rover vehicles manufactured July 26, 2012, to March 9, 2015, and 2014-2016 Range Rover Sport vehicles manufactured February 18, 2013, to March 5, 2015. In the affected vehicles, the doors may unlatch unexpectedly when closed.
Risk: If a vehicle door unlatches, the distraction may increase the risk of a crash and/or a vehicle occupant may fall out of the vehicle if they are not wearing a seatbelt, increasing their risk of injury.
15V093000
AIR BAGS
Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Land Rover Range Rover vehicles manufactured August 23, 2012, to February 5, 2015, and 2014-2015 Range Rover Sport vehicles manufactured June 16, 2013, to February 5, 2015. In the affected vehicles, a light weight adult front seat passenger may be improperly classified by the occupant classification system (OCS) and, as a result, the front seat passenger air bag may be disabled.
Risk: If the front passenger air bag is disabled during a vehicle crash, there is an increased risk of injury.

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:POWER ASSIST:VACUUM:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS
Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Land Rover Range Rover vehicles manufactured August 16, 2012, to January 8, 2014, and 2014-2015 Land Rover Range Rover Sport vehicles manufactured May 7, 2013, to February 12, 2015. In the affected vehicles, the brake vacuum hose may have been incorrectly routed allowing a hole to be worn ito it.
Risk: If a hole is worn into the brake vacuum hose, a complete loss of braking assistance could occur, lengthening the distance required to stop the vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash.
13V607000
AIR BAGS
Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Range Rover vehicles. In the affected vehicles, due to insufficient clearance, the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) connector located in the driver and front passenger side seat of the vehicle may become disconnected.
Risk: If the connector becomes disconnected, the driver and/or passenger seat side air bag may not function. In the event of a crash necessitating side air bag deployment, the seat occupant is at an increased risk of injury.

Structure
Issue: On certain vehicles, the doors may not latch properly when they are closed. As a result, the doors could open while driving. Safety Risk: A door that opens suddenly while driving could create the risk of injury and/or increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Land Rover will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the unilatch keyless vehicle (KV) software.
Recall 20152596,120 units in Canada
Structure
On certain vehicles, if doors fail to latch properly in the primary or secondary closed position, there would be no indication provided to vehicle occupants of the unlatched door condition. This could result in a door opening while the vehicle is in motion, which could increase the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant seated next to the door, or result in damage to property. Correction: Dealers will update the vehicle software.
Recall 20150775,839 units in Canada
Airbag
Certain vehicles may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 208 - Occupant Protection. The passenger seat occupant classification system (OCS) may have been calibrated incorrectly during the manufacturing process. This could result in the non-deployment of an airbag, which would increase the risk of injury to the seat occupant in a crash where airbag deployment is warranted. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the occupant classification system (OCS).
Recall 20150282,535 units in Canada
Brakes
On certain vehicles, the brake vacuum hose may not have been routed properly and could rupture, causing a loss of vacuum assistance in the braking system. This could increase stopping distances, which could result in a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect and re-route or replace the hose if damaged.
Recall 2013428322 units in Canada
Airbag
On certain vehicles, airbag wiring connectors located in the front seats may become disconnected, illuminating the airbag warning light. If the airbag light illuminates, the seat side airbags may not deploy in the event of a crash, which could increase the risk of injury. Correction: Dealers will increase the clearance around the connectors.

I GOT OUT OF THE EVOQUE WITH IT RUNNING AND THE DOOR OPEN. WHEN I CAME WALKING BACK THE CAR WAS GOING UP THE ROAD BY ITSELF IN REVERSE. IT HIT A MAILBOX THAT STOPPED IT. IT COULD HAVE HIT KIDS THAT ARE USUALLY IN THE AREA. LR/RR LOOKED AT IT FOR TWO WEEKS THEN TOLD ME I MUST HAVE LEFT IT IN REVERSE AND GOT OUT OF THE SUV SOMEHOW BEFORE IT MOVED. THEY WERE NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. WHEN I GOT IN THE SUV AFTER IT HIT THE MAILBOX IT WAS STILL IN PARK. LONG STORY SHORT IS LR/RR IS DOING NOTHING FOR US. NOW THE BODY SHOP IS TELLING US THE REPAIR PARTS THAT I HAVE TO PAY FOR WILL TAKE UP TO ONE YEAR TO GET IN. WE HAVE BEEN OVER 60 DAYS AND STILL THEY HAVE NO ETA FOR THE PARTS. WHAT A JOKE FOR A COMPANY OF THIS SIZE. MY WIFE WILL NEVER AGREE TO DRIVE THIS SUV AGAIN WITH THIS ISSUE. NEVER BUY A RR/LR.

Fuel tanks shields have rotted. I have researched this and it appears that the reason this problem occurs is because of a process called galvanic corrosion. The fuel tank shield is bolted onto an aluminum heat shield, and the pairing of these two different metals accelerates the corrosion. Land Rover has acknowledged this problem and it’s given priority due to the fact that this is a safety issue being that these shields are also responsible for holding the tanks in place.

The metal gas tank shroud (cover) on the bottom of the car is completed rotted away and there is no longer anything protecting the gas tank from rupture. This was brought to my attention by an automotive service center as well as my own visual inspection. My understanding this shroud not only protects the tank but also helps support it to the car.

ENGINE
DRIVING ON PHOENIX CITY STREET 51ST AVENUE GOING SOUTH AT 5:00 PM IN AFTERNOON. FAILURE OF A ENGINE/COOLING SYSTEM OUTLET PIPE LED TO EXPULSION OF ALL COOLANT, OVERHEATING OF THE ENGINE TO ITS SHUTDOWN WITHIN THREE MINUTES, THE ENGINE GOT SO HOT IT RUPTURED A FUEL LINE OVER THE ENGINE SPRAYING THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WITH GASOLINE. UNAWARE OF THE FUEL LEAK I ATTEMPTED TO RE START THE VEHICLE TO MOVE IT INTO A NEARBY PARKING LOT. I EVENTUALLY RESTARTED IT AND I LIMPED IT INTO THE PARKING LOT WHERE IT CONTINUED TO LEAK FUEL. THE ENGINE WAS BLOWN FROM THE OVERHEATING AND REQUIRES A COMPLETE REBUILD OR REPLACEMENT AT $15K TO $35K IN COST. THE LANDROVER SERVICE DIRECTOR ROBERT LYLER, CONFIRMED THAT FAILURE OF THE OUTLET PIPE IS COMMON. IT OCCURS RANDOMLY AND WITHOUT NOTICE OR ANY SIGNS OF FATIGUE OR WEAR. IT'S FAILURE IS ALWAYS A MASSIVE RUPTURE, NEVER JUST A LEAK OR SMALL SPRAY. I RECEIVED ONLY A 5 SECOND WARNING THAT THE COOLANT WAS LOW. NO OTHER WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED AND THE TEMPERATURE GUAGE NEVER SHOWED THE HIGH TEMPERATURE OR OVERHEATING. MY FAMILY AND I ARE LUCKY THAT THE ENGINE DID NOT CATCH FIRE AND THE FIRE FOLLOW THE FUEL LINE TO THE GAS TANK ENDING IN AN EXPLOSION. THE VEHICLE IS NOW AT THE LANDROVER NORTH SCOTTSDALE DEALERSHIP. IT HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY COMPANY REFUSED TO PAY SAYING THAT THE PART WAS A WEAR AND TEAR/MAINTENANCE ITEM AND I HAVE FILED A CLAIM WITH LAND ROVER CORPORATE BUT HAVE RECEIVED NO RESPONSE AS OF THIS CLAIM. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED DOCUMENT FOR A MORE DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INCIDENT.

AIR BAGS
DASHBOARD IS HEAVING, SEPARATING AND EXPOSING THE AIRBAG ON PASSENGER SIDE. DEALER CANNOT REPAIR BUT SAID THAT IF THE SEPARATION BECOMES LARGER THE AIRBAG MAY NOT DEPLOY IN THE PROPER DIRECTION OR MAY DEPLOY UNNECESSARILY. DEALER RECOMMENDED ENTIRE DASHBOARD REPLACEMENT FOR $3600. THE SEPARATION IS OF COURSE GETTING BIGGER EVERY DAY AN POSES A SAFETY RISK. THE ATTACHED PICTURE WAS TAKEN SEVERAL WEEKS AGO AND THE SEPARATION IS NOW MUCH LARGER.
