Each time for the last year and a half that I have taken my car in for service or just stopped in and showed them that my radio is saying overheated current, they would test it and say that they couldn't recreate the error despite me showing that it would not connect my phone to the car or charge. I also reported having a random warning that my car was unleveled when driving and they said the computer shows no errors. When I last took my car in for an oil change 1/30/26 I had a break check done because my brakes acted like they didn't want to stop and were making a sound. They told me that my breaks and rotors were find and probably needed to be washed. The sound is louder now so i went to schedule my oil change and make the reports again to find out that the company closed down and there is no dealer close to my location. I filed a CFPB complaint due to the Mitsubishi telling me there is nothing they can do.

While driving, the vehicle will randomly shut off and lose all power. If I jump the car, it starts up and runs fine for a while. Also, there have been several incidents when I park the car, and it immediately loses all power and needs to be jumped. I have had the battery, alternaor and starter checked, and all are working fine per the mechanic. There have also been instances when we are pushing on the gas pedal, but the car appears to be losing power, and we have to pull over to the side of the road, wait a few minutes, and then the vehicle will start and run fine.

The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed the vehicle with catalytic converter failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact called the dealer, but no assistance was provided. The failure persisted. The contact recently received an Extended Warranty for the infotainment touch screens due to common software and connectivity failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure; however, no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 6,000.

The touchscreen for the main infotainment system is becoming unresponsive. It’s impossible to use the most basic functions while driving without being distracted. It’s caused me to swerve & almost lose control of the vehicle on multiple occasions— as it distracted me from driving because initially the screen had spotty functionality (without any sort of warning, so it seemed like user error). There is currently a service notice from Mitsubishi sent out to all owners of Outlander and Outlander Sports (MY 2020 thru 2022) to replace these units under warranty because of a manufacturing defect. My vehicle is eligible for this, and I’m on the wait list, but that’s the where the bigger problem begins: My local Mitsubishi dealership estimated a 4 month wait period — this was back on 5/9/25; it’s now 11/17/25 so it’s actually been over 6 months. Given that they never called me since May, I called them last week to check the status and they said they do not have an estimated time frame for when the infotainment unit will be replaced. A little research online shows this problem is widespread; consumer websites and other general forums have plenty of people detailing similar experiences with this problem and frustration with how Mitsubishi is handling it. To make matters worse, there is only one way to contact Mitsubishi Motors (aside from the dealership) — it’s the basic customer service USA phone number. I have not talked to anyone there because they simply do not answer. And there are no email addresses available either. I sincerely believe this issue needs to be addressed as a safety recall, as it is obviously a distraction while driving and needs to be taken with more priority. The fact they act like they are volunteering to fix this problem, and at their own leisurely pace, is wrong and grounds for a class action lawsuit. This is not about money — this is about people’s safety, and stopping a company from doing whatever they want without any sort of accountability.

In addition, the touch-screen icons failed to function as intended. The message "Maintenance Required" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the infotainment system had failed. The contact was informed that the system needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that a fix was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

I am unsure of the proper name of the component with issues. There are several little issues but the main is, I believe it would be a software issue... Basically, on several different occasions (4) while driving at 60 mph and over, the vehicle suddenly stalled and shut off completely with no warning. The one incident which was the very first while I was driving less than 1 month ago. I was on a two lane road/freeway with another passenger in the back seat going somewhere between 60 and 65 mph. The car went completely black and everything shut down the entire vehicle, engine and all. I was in complete shock and end up scraping my front left rim on the curb I was next to, damaging the vehicle as a result. I am just recently out of my warranty and I do not have the funds to have it looked at just yet. I did inform the dealership that I purchased the vehicle from. I originally thought it was something maybe I had done to cause it. I also was completely unaware of any recalls on several of the year and model of my vehicle. When I looked up recalls on them, my vehicle has very similar issues to a lot of other cars like It that have already been recalled. I am upset because if I had known there were potential safety issues with these particular make and model car I would have not wanted to finance it, especially at the price point I have. It seems that several thousand were recalled a few months before I financed mine. Why wouldn’t I be notified that there could be potential safety issues when I was looking at the vehicle for purchase? Now here we are and I don’t think it is a safe vehicle. I need to do something.. I am filing this complaint regarding serious safety issues with my 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, VIN: [XXX] , purchased from Carvana in 2019. Recurring transmission problems have created a significant safety risk for me and others. About a year after purchase, the vehicle’s transmission began failing, and I replaced it in 2021. Despite this, the transmission warning light activates intermittently in stop-and-go traffic, and now the vehicle has started stalling on highways, creating a critical hazard by suddenly losing power. In 2021, I took the vehicle to a now-closed Mitsubishi dealership in Brooklyn, where I was informed that this transmission issue was not covered, despite it being a drivetrain problem that should have been under the 100,000-mile powertrain warranty. My research suggests this model may have a Transmission Control Unit (CVT-ECU) defect, potentially causing stalling. Carvana has stated this issue is Mitsubishi’s responsibility, as it is likely manufacturing-related rather than due to prior use. Given Carvana’s stance and the severe safety implications of stalling, I urge NHTSA to investigate if this vehicle, or others with similar transmissions, pose a broader safety risk. Summary of Safety Concerns: 1. Recurring Transmission Problems: Transmission was replaced in 2021, yet the warning light persists, indicating unresolved issues. 2. Stalling on Highways: Vehicle loses power without warning, posing a major hazard in high-speed traffic. 3. Back up camera view is not clear, unreliable sixty percent of the time. Not able to see pedestrians or objects clearly or the distance from the vehicle. Twenty percent of the times it is clouded so dark it useless. Twenty percent of the time it is clear. Safety of others is at risk. Problem was reported to dealer twice at the location I purchased the vehicle. They ruled it off. The problem was reported to the manufacturer with no return call or response. The problem was reported to a different dealer which informed me that the manufacturer is not doing any repairs. The vehicle is available for inspection anytime. I have cleaned the camera lens and monitor screen with no good results. This is the second vehicle of this style from the same manufacturer I have owned. The first vehicle had no issues and both vehicles were shown to the dealer service department as well as sales crew.
