My car is stalling, shaking, shuddering, not accelerating and downshifting while I am on the highway almost killing me while attempting to inch my way across the lanes to the shoulder. With NO WARNING my vehicle completely broke down with my children in the car one is Non Verbal and on the Autism Spectrum with a serious heart condition- I myself am clinically diagnosed with PTSD and the terror I have experienced is absolutely devastating! The vehicle has exhibited recurring ignition-system and powertrain malfunctions involving repeated ignition-coil failures, engine misfires, and catalyst-system efficiency faults. These issues cause intermittent loss of power, hesitation during acceleration, and unstable engine performance. The malfunction has occurred multiple times since the date of purchase and has been confirmed through diagnostic trouble codes related to misfire events and catalyst-system operation. A certified Mitsubishi dealership confirmed that the failure pattern aligns with an active manufacturer recall and corresponding Technical Service Bulletin affecting the same model year, engine type (4B11), and vehicle platform. I was informed that the vehicle “falls under” the same defect pattern listed in the current recall/TSB; however, because the vehicle no longer has an active factory warranty, the dealership stated they would have to sell the repair parts rather than process the issue under recall or warranty coverage. Despite this, the same safety-related symptoms described in the recall and TSB continue to occur. The defect presents a safety hazard because the vehicle may lose power or fail to accelerate when entering traffic, merging, or navigating intersections. Warning indicators have appeared repeatedly, including the check engine light and catalyst-system warnings. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by authorized service personnel on multiple occasions. All components and diagnostic documentation are available for inspection upon request.

I was turning out of my neighborhood and as I accelerated to merge with traffic my car started jerking. My dashboard “D” symbol only started flashing on and off and then my transmission service required light came on, (just had it done 8/25 and it is 11/25) and the BSW service required light came on as well. As I continued down the street everytime I pressed on the gas pedal the car kept jerking backwards and forward.

When backing up the rear camera display is too dark to see. I have altered the settings for display from auto, to night, to day, and also adjusted the brightness level all the way up, but nothing changes. It remains the same and you can't safely see what is on the camera display.

I am unsure of the proper name of the component with issues. There are several little issues but the main is, I believe it would be a software issue... Basically, on several different occasions (4) while driving at 60 mph and over, the vehicle suddenly stalled and shut off completely with no warning. The one incident which was the very first while I was driving less than 1 month ago. I was on a two lane road/freeway with another passenger in the back seat going somewhere between 60 and 65 mph. The car went completely black and everything shut down the entire vehicle, engine and all. I was in complete shock and end up scraping my front left rim on the curb I was next to, damaging the vehicle as a result. I am just recently out of my warranty and I do not have the funds to have it looked at just yet. I did inform the dealership that I purchased the vehicle from. I originally thought it was something maybe I had done to cause it. I also was completely unaware of any recalls on several of the year and model of my vehicle. When I looked up recalls on them, my vehicle has very similar issues to a lot of other cars like It that have already been recalled. I am upset because if I had known there were potential safety issues with these particular make and model car I would have not wanted to finance it, especially at the price point I have. It seems that several thousand were recalled a few months before I financed mine. Why wouldn’t I be notified that there could be potential safety issues when I was looking at the vehicle for purchase? Now here we are and I don’t think it is a safe vehicle. I need to do something.. My vehicle kept going into "limp mode" so I took it to the shop and they basically said $9,000 to replace. It's a 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport which I purchased from Carvana just over a year ago. After reading up on my vehicle, I found there were recalls on the CVT transmission the previous years because of the same exact issues. It's very unsafe because on more than one occasion, I pulled out of a parking lot and, drove for about a half a mile and then suddenly, my car loses power and starts to slow down in traffic. Now the expense to replace is just about what I owe on the vehicle. When I look online, there's many customers who have gone though the same thing. Now I have a car payment for the next 4 years on a car that I cannot safely drive. The issues from the previous years have not been resolved with the 2017 model year. I will continue to pay on it and leave it parked until there's a recall.

I bought this car used less than 30 days ago. It had 21362 miles on it. It made a weird nose when putting it into drive. Thought it might be a heatshield. Took it to a mitsubishi dealership for an outstanding recall. Ask them to check underneath. The exhaust pipe was rusted out. 3000 dollars to repair. The dealership didn't believe it cost that much so they used a mechanic they new to fix the issue 10/15/2024. We are not impressed with that repair. It seems the exhaust is not covered under the extended warranty. We feel that mitsubishi should cover this because they do have a warranty of 5-6 years for the exhaust system. A car with this low mileage should not already have the exhaust rusted out.
