From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. If the airbag inflator ruptures, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants or cause damage to the airbag assembly, preventing its proper function. Note: For 2009 models listed, this recall only affects vehicles that were imported into Canada, and were originally sold or ever registered in certain areas of the United States that experience high or moderate levels of heat and humidity. Safety Risk: If the vehicle is involved in a crash requiring an airbag deployment, the airbag inflator could rupture and create a risk of injury. Corrective Action: General Motors will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the passenger-front airbag. On certain vehicles equipped with a Heated Washer Fluid System (HWFS), a short circuit on the printed circuit board for the washer fluid heater may overheat the control-circuit ground wire. A repair was implemented in a recall in 2008, however, there have been new reports of thermal incidents on heated washer fluid system modules after this improvement was installed. This situation may cause some minor distortion, but also could lead to melting of the plastic around the heated washer fluid system, or cause a fire. Correction: Dealers will permanently disable and remove the heated washer fluid module. An updated page will be provided and inserted in the Owner Manual to document the removal of the feature.

Certain vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of CMVSS 120 - Tire rim designation. These vehicles have an incomplete tire rim designation indicated on the compliance label. If a customer replaces a wheel with one that has a rim contour that is inappropriate for use with the tires on the vehicle, the mounting of the tire to the wheel and/or the tire/wheel assembly may not perform as designed/intended. In addition, certain vehicles are also missing the tire load rating on the label. If a tire of a lesser load rating than the original tire is installed, the tire may not be able to sustain the loads encountered during use. Correction: Dealers will install a new partial label over the existing label. Corrected labels and application instructions will be mailed to customers. Dealers will receive labels for installation on the vehicles in inventory.

The contact owned a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 60 MPH, he lost control of the vehicle after driving over a pothole and crashed into a telephone pole. The pole fell on the vehicle and the fire department had to remove the contact from the vehicle. The front passenger's side of the vehicle was damaged. The air bags in the vehicle failed to deploy during the impact. The contact sustained three fractured ribs and one lacerated lung which required medical attention via hospital. The vehicle was towed and deemed destroyed. A police report was filed. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was previously serviced for an unknown NHTSA Campaign Number for the Air Bags prior to the crash. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

Traveling hiway on cruise. My 5.3l down shifted to accelerate to go up an incline. Shortly after that there was low to almost no power. Check engine light then came on. I was able to do 30mph on freeway to get it home. Took it to a local garage since gray Daniels chevy wouldn’t service it since I recently transitioned to MS. The problem was the #4 lifter had collapsed. It costed me just shy of $4k out of pocket. I’ve read that this was a recall item for my vehicle, I was never notified. I would like to be compensated if this was indeed a recall item

First recall, Only dealer on Island (Hawaii) went out of business and couldn't be done by a GM dealer. Windshield washer fluid heater was removed by a mechanic shop at my own expense. Second recall, The passenger airbag inflator hasn't been done due to the fact that 2007 - 2014 Chevy Avalanche, Tahoe, Suburban & GMC Yukon are known for cracked dashboards which includes my Avalanche. My dashboard was cracked before the airbag recall and I covered the dashboard with fiberglass mat and resin to repair it as a new dashboard was not covered by warranty and exceeded over $2,000.00 to replace. The area to access the airbag is sealed and would require a new dashboard. There is now a new Chevy dealer here that can do the recall but I would have to pay the cost to replace the dashboard so it hasn't been done as I'm not able or willing to pay for the additional expense.

Have a 2007 Chevy Avalanche LTZ 5.3L that has a dashboard panel that is completely falling apart and cracking everywhere. This includes MULTIPLE cracks and broken pieces surrounding the airbag. I am worried these pieces could get propelled by the airbag if the airbag were to deploy. These cracks and broken parts of the dash have also caused multiple other things to become loose. The controls on the front of the dash are falling out because they can no longer be bolted to the dashboard panel due to it's pieces being broken. I was hoping chevy had a recall as this is an issue with many of their trucks but could not find any information about it. I was hoping there might be some information or help with supplying a replacement dashboard panel part #15915974 from GM/Chevrolet. Thank you.

We are repair facility. on or about 5/2/2023 the vehicle was towed into our shop with the right front wheel bearing sheared off - the customer stated he did not have any impact/accident with the vehicle. We noted that the wheel bearing still rotated - no explanation on why the hub would shear off. At the time, we inspected the entire front suspension (with extra emphasis on the left front bearing/hub assembly) and found no deficiencies. On, or about 5/19/23 the vehicle was towed into the shop - the left front hub/wheel bearing assembly had sheared off. In 30+ years in business, we've never seen a hub shaft sheer - let alone 2 on the same vehicle

The sunroof glass broke broke away while I was in the interstate going 70 miles a hour. It was so scary. Thank God there wasn't anyone behind me at the time. This could have went thru a cars windshield behind me and killed them. They need to build these better or be illegal in the US. I am putting a claim in with my insurance co. I don't know if it's covered. The garage that will be repairing mine said he gets many calls of this happening. Even though it's may not be a vehicle defect like breaks but it surly is a hazard issue. Even the insurance girl I was talking to said one almost hit her. She was lucky she was going up on the side of the vehicle that lost it and not behind it. This has not been a recall and something should be done about sunroofs. Extra brackets to hold them in maybe should be applied on any vehicle with a sunroof. I'm telling you it scared me to death when it broke. My heart was pounding and it could of caused me to panic and get in an accident. I had to drive with one hand holding my inside sliding cover. And if it had been pouring rain I would of had water pouring in and that would be an electrical issue. Please don't let this issue continue. Please have every vehicle with a sunroof recalled and have extra brackets added. Can you imagine if you was driving on the highway and a sunroof came flying at you. It would be worse than the ice on vehicles that is illegal. Never did I ever expect this to happen. I would pray this would come under highway safety. They are so dangerous. I will never purchase another vehicle with one again. I am waiting on the insurance co.
