When owners complained

A spike years after the car went on sale usually means a part wearing out on schedule across the whole fleet — the kind of pattern no single owner can see from inside their own car.

Recalls on the 2021 Chrysler 300

A complaint is one owner's allegation. A recall is the point at which the manufacturer or a regulator agreed the defect is real and dangerous enough to fix for free — however old the car is.

United States — NHTSA

24V198000

AIR BAGS:SIDE/WINDOW:CURTAIN:INFLATOR

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) (Stellantis) is recalling certain 2018-2021 Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 vehicles. The right and left side curtain air bag inflators may rupture due to a manufacturing defect.

Risk: An inflator rupture may result in sharp metal fragments striking occupants, resulting in injury or death.

21V516000

VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger, and Chrysler 300 vehicles. During manufacturing, the windshield may not have been properly bonded to the vehicle, allowing it to detach in a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 212, "Windshield Mounting."

Risk: A windshield that separates from the vehicle during a crash can increase the risk of injury.

Canada — Transport Canada

Canada runs its own recall programme, and its campaigns do not always mirror the American ones.

Recall 2024168 10,285 units in Canada

Airbag

Issue: On certain vehicles, the side curtain airbag inflators could be defective. As a result, the driver and/or passenger side curtain airbag inflator(s) could rupture unexpectedly and metal fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants. Safety Risk: An airbag inflator that ruptures can create a risk of injury. Corrective Actions: FCA will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace both side curtain airbag modules.

Recall 2021422 714 units in Canada

Structure

Issue: On certain vehicles, the windshield may not be properly attached. As a result, the glass can become loose and could separate from the vehicle in a crash. Safety Risk: A windshield that detaches in a crash could create an increased risk of injury. Corrective Action: FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to remove and reinstall the windshield.

Recalls cover specific build ranges, so check your own vehicle by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls or, in Canada, Transport Canada.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA

The backup camera system malfunctioned, resulting in a blank or distorted display screen when the vehicle is placed in reverse. This system failure deprives the driver of rear visibility and disables the rear parking collision warning, creating a safety hazard when backing up. I previously brought the vehicle to an authorized Chrysler dealership while under factory warranty specifically to report this backup camera failure, but the dealership noted they "could not duplicate" the problem at that time. The camera was later replaced, but the same defect has reoccurred. Mopar portal records confirm the dealership service visits, and the vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

I bought my car, Chrysler 300 2021 at the Hemet CA Dealership in 2021. Hemet Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. The car presented with several issues including, difficulty starting, engine misfires, stalling, and decreased fuel efficiency. The low fuel warning light on my car's dashboard would not come on when gas was low at all, until it left me stranded in the freeway far away from home and a dealership. I had to take it in to closest car service center to have the fuel pump replaced. These fuel pumps should last for 100,000 miles or more. My car had only 69,101 miles. The gas level on the dashboard was stuck at the level when I added gas the last time, again not indicating that it needed more gas. I do not see any recalls issued on FUEL PUMP for my cars year, make and model. But a lot of people have reported the same issues. Can someone respond to this email? I want Chrysler to understand that this is not acceptable. This issue should be part of a recall. SEAT BELTS

About 2 months ago the passenger seatbelt in my vehicle just tore out of nowhere. The seam seemed to unravel and it completely broke. Took it to get repaired had some issue but my complaint today is to help save someone from this or maybe others may have had same issue. The seatbelt was poorly made or defective. It could have gone bad but nobody was injured and it took them a fight to fix,it, and never received an apology.

My car turns off periodically while I’m driving and when I’m stopped at a light. This is random, so I didn’t even go on freeways from fear the car will stop suddenly in heavy traffic and I be killed or injured badly I have taken it to the dealer and they keep saying nothing is wrong, last time they kept car for 3 days and said nothing found. I fear for my life, don’t even want to drive the vehicle anymore . It’s happened for the last months I strongly feel, they were waiting for my warranty to expire so they kept saying nothing wrong

-Took Vehicle to Service Center, they told me to call 800-992-1997 and ask for authorization for replacement. - Its at the service center for Larry Miller Chrysler, so I am not sure why they are not calling to get approvals. The seatbelt should never have unraveled or torn, they keep saying my warranty just expired, but this is a factory issue, no seatbelt should be tearing every and I have had the car for 3 years now. My concern has nothing to do with the safety recall, this is a separate issue. My seatbelt on the driver side has began unraveling, Ive been driving since 16 teen and never saw this before. I went to buckle my seatbelt about a week agao from 10/14/2024 and it would not pull through and I notice it was actually torn in half to the middle mark of the canvas belt. This is a FYI, i have taken it to dealership, they are looking it over. They did without looking just say to me out the blue I have never heard of this you must have cut it. ( That was insulting, why would I, [XXX] just cut my seatbelt)? The Larry Miller Dealership, service center is a joke. I think that’s it’s appalling that the NHTSA cannot put more pressure on Chrysler to figure out a faster way to fix this deadly defect that is killing people. How long am I expected to wait for this repair? What liability does Chrysler have if I get into an accident and am injured by shrapnel from the air bag igniter. I thought that the NHTSA is there to protect the public. The mission of the NHTSA is to "Save lives, prevent injuries and reduce economic costs due to road traffic crashes, through education, research, safety standards and enforcement activity." I believe that you and Chrysler have both failed.

I have a 2021 Chrysler 300 S and before I had purchased this vehicle, there was a safety recall "fixed" for the front windshield adhesive. Whom ever completed the recall issue, did not do it correctly. The whole top on the windshield is really wavy. I'm very concerned about this because this is my daily driver and I have 3 kids. It's obvious that a windshield is not supposed to flex like it is.

However the part was unavailable on 7/12/2023 returned for the fix on 7/22/2023 and still no part. I understand Air Bags have been a problem on numerous Chrysler 300 in the past please review and instruct maybe a recall is warranted.

Also when opening my sunglasses holder visor i seen water dripped from there. Also on passenger side on the ceiling roof front near the door frame it would be soak or moist from the recent downpour of rain.
