an unusual number of complaints, unusually dangerous
ones, or failures that arrived unusually early.

When owners complained
A spike years after the car went on sale usually means a part wearing
out on schedule across the whole fleet — the kind of pattern no single
owner can see from inside their own car.

NHTSA investigations into the 2015 Dodge Charger
An investigation is the step before a recall: the agency has seen enough
complaints to look into a pattern itself. An open one means it thinks
something may be wrong and nothing has been fixed yet.
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. Recalls on the 2015 Dodge Charger
A complaint is one owner's allegation. A recall is the point at which
the manufacturer or a regulator agreed the defect is real and dangerous
enough to fix for free — however old the car is.
Canada — Transport Canada
Canada runs its own recall programme, and its campaigns do not
always mirror the American ones.
Recall 2024548314,717 units in Canada
Label
Issue: On certain vehicles, the tire and loading information label does not list that there is no spare tire in both official languages. The label reads as "NONE" when it should read as "NONE / AUCUN". Canadian regulations require the information to be listed on the label in both English and French. Safety Risk: This error does not affect vehicle safety. Corrective Actions: This is not a recall. The company has corrected the tire and loading information label for all new vehicles.
Recall 201901679,206 units in Canada
Airbag
Issue: On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, may eventually degrade the propellant contained in the passenger-front airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. If the airbag inflator ruptures, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants or cause damage to the airbag assembly, preventing its proper function. Safety Risk: If the vehicle is involved in a crash requiring an airbag deployment, the airbag inflator could rupture and create a risk of injury. Corrective Action: Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to have the passenger-front airbag inflator replaced. Note: The Canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. This recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk. It is expected that all airbag inflators will be replaced before their function would be affected.

Accessories
Note: This recall affects the following Powertrain Control Modules (PCM) that were sold through dealers as high-performance accessories: - Mopar Stage 1 high performance Powertrain Control Modules (PCM), part numbers P5160023 and P5160025 (campaign U82) - Mopar high performance Powertrain Control Modules (PCM) included in the Demon Crate, part number 68412287AA (campaign U83) On certain vehicles, an electronic fault may create a situation where the cruise control cannot be deactivated. If this occurs and the driver does not apply the brakes or shift the transmission to neutral, the vehicle could maintain speed or accelerate without warning, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect the PCM software and perform an update as necessary. Note: In the interim, owners are advised not to use the cruise control until the vehicle is repaired. This is a voluntary recall that is not being conducted under the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act, as these aftermarket products were not regulated by the Act.

Powertrain
On certain all-wheel drive vehicles, the front propshaft bolts may be loose. This could result in the front propshaft disconnecting from the vehicle, which would lead to loss of motive power while driving and could also damage powertrain and/or underbody components and create a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace all eight front propshaft bolts.
Recall 201603919,005 units in Canada
Accessories
Certain vehicles equipped with an original equipment spare tire, the body-side sill assemblies may deform during tire jack use if wheel chocks are not used as instructed in the Owner’s Manual. This could cause the vehicle to become unstable and cause the jack to fail, which could result in injury to the operator. Correction: Dealers will provide wheel chocks to vehicle owners. The wheel chocks will be installed with the vehicle’s spare tire in such a manner that they must be removed before the spare tire is removed from its stowed location.
Recall 2015086148 units in Canada
Fuel System
On certain vehicles equipped with a 6.2L supercharged engine, the fuel rail crossover hose may leak in the engine compartment. Leaking fuel in the presence of an ignition source could lead to a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the fuel rail crossover hose.
Recall 2014550405 units in Canada
Lights And Instruments
Certain vehicles may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 101 - Controls and Displays. The instrument cluster may not display safety warning lamps when the ignition key is first turned on, contrary to the requirements of the standard. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the instrument cluster.

The dealership has refused to provide documentation for the pre-purchase inspection and the post-inspection report, and they declared the vehicle a total loss. My husband was driving and made a left turn, and the front right tire and control arm came completely off the car. As a result, significant damage was sustained to the car's underside, and it was not immediately visible when the dealership/auto body repair shop received the car. They delayed explaining to my insurance company that the vehicle was totaled and claimed there was a delay due to a technician being terminated.

I also have a drive shaft bearing that is completely destroyed. I have seen similar complaints on nhtsa. I took my car into a local shop for both front CV boots ripped and leaking. Upon inspection I was told the drive shaft also needed replaced, totaling over 3000+ to replace the drive shaft. The mechanic took a video of the bearing and it is indeed completely separated with the drive shaft moving very loose. With how may people are complaining about this part, and the recalls on drive shafts for certain vehicles, (unfortunately not this VIN) that it should be investigated. Car seat has a curved back instead of a flat back design which causes a chin to chest position of the head leading to closed airways of the infant. Car seat has not been inspected. Infant cries and stuggles to breathe while in car seat turning red and trying to gasp for air as he seems to slowly choke. His chin touches his chest and airways seemed closed. I started noticing a funny noise when turning to the right and when accelerating. Took it to Community Auto Repair on 7/19/24. Below are their notes from inspection (I have attached the 1st pg of the Inspection report stating this) Test Drive - Noise Inspection NOTES Drive shaft carrier bearing is totally destroyed. Greg (owner) said that he had never seen one as bad as that before! He told me that it is dangerous to drive. If it completely breaks I could cause much more damage and can cause an accident. So I had to leave it in the shop over the weekend to be fixed on Monday. They are going to have to replace the whole drive shaft, which is $2000 +. The reason I am reporting this issue is because I would like it looked into. Greg said that it was nothing I did and it was most likely a defective part or a defect in how it was installed . He said he was surprised by how destroyed it was with how little miles I have on it. My car only has 37,000 miles on it! I saw that other Chargers of this year had recalls but my VIN was not included. But something seems odd with my car only having 37,000 miles on it and for the drive shaft bearing to be DESTOYED. Please look into this matter. Maybe my car should actually be part of the recall?
