The worst model year for it is 2019.
When Google rolled out Gemini and forced it as an interface with the Android Auto (SOLD AS A FEATURE BY FORD) it was not ready. It is still not ready. As soon as I experienced the problem with the onscreen and voice navigation integration I looked for a solution. At the time that was a rollback to the older interface, Google Assistant. I was content to just use the older interface, but Google has sent out a push notification informing everybody they are killing Google Assistant September 4th 2026. Gemini AI is still not ready. All you have to do is talk to it to find it often gives wrong results even when exact correct data is available in Google's own database. The case that broke me was trying to drive to a business location I had never been to before. Its local and I am familiar with the road layout of the area, but enroute Gemini AI kept trying to get me to go to a wrong location on a block where the street address can not exist. I have seen Google maps be wrong before, and I have seen address look ups be wrong before. This was different. It was willfully wrong. Google maps and all other lookup tools where correct. Gemini AI was taking me to a wrong location, and even when told to double check the actual data from Google Maps, or the actual data from the company's own website it insisted on taking me to the wrong location. I tried a huge array of methods to get it unbroken down to letting it know when I arrived at the correct location, that it was wrong, and it needed to correct its process. It actively argued with me. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN when your choices are to not use the navigation system at all, deal with a flakey AI that CAUSES distracted driving, or pull over along a busy roadway and manually enter everything on your cell phone with your thumbs. IT IS DANGEROUS to the point I have investigated alternatives, but Gemini is making inroads into Apple/Carplay as well. It's a real problem.
NHTSA complaint #11755624 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
The backup camera failed. Vehicle had a 1 year customer satisfaction program and Ford would not repair this because it failed outside the 1 year window. Now, they came out with a 15 year one time fix, but Ford does not have a remedy. This is a safety issue and should be a recall (just like it is on our 2 Ford Mavericks)! The camera was also hanging up and not allowing the sync system to shut off which was consistently draining our battery. Had our sync system updated at local mechanics shop and camera/sync started working again for a couple of weeks and its back to blue or black screen saying “camera unavailable contact dealership.” My dealership said no remedy available until Feb 2027. The vehicle also states “check your surroundings” but you can’t because it doesn’t work. This at a minimum should be a recall as it is a safety issue and it is on other Ford vehicles.

I am writing to report a potential safety defect on my 2022 Ford F-250 Super Duty. Since purchasing the vehicle new, the hole in the towing receiver where the pin inserts has ovaled out while towing. On a recent drive, this caused the hitch pin to shift, knocking out the cotter pin that secures it. This created a dangerous situation where the trailer could have disconnected. I contacted the dealership, Ford Country at 280 N Gibson Rd Henderson nv 89014 but they stated this is not covered under warranty. My Vehicle is still under the 3yr 36k warranty and i have the extended 6yr coverage. I believe this is a manufacturing or design defect that could affect other F-250 owners who tow. Please investigate this issue for the safety of all drivers on the road. Thank you,
NHTSA complaint #11748523 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
The Driver Door lock actuator has failed. The truck has only 78k miles on it. People can now break into my truck just by opening the driver door There was a TSB for older model super duty’s. There needs to be a recall for this because there are a lot of people that are having the same issue
NHTSA complaint #11747840 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
I was driving down an empty two lane road the truck went from 9th to 10th gear. As it went into 10th the transmission shifted hard and then locked up. This caused my rear wheels to lock up and I skid off the road. Eventually it shifted back down into a lower gear where I could slowly drive into a safe place. I called for a tow and had it towed into the dealer where it’s at right now. I was lucky the road was empty and didn’t hit anything or anyone. But the transmission had been shifting bad for awhile but not to that extent. Note this truck has just hit 60000 miles.

The vehicle looses the display screen and or the camera screen while driving forward and reverse at times. It also freezes up and glitches which then makes the reverse camera not in real-time causing a minor accident. The screen sometimes turns black and sometimes blue. Secondly the trailer towing lights don't work properly and say that the trailer disconnected or not working properly. We tow or move many vessels at work and it is not the trailers. It is the truck. I am sure I saw a recall ref the trailer plug but now it shows that there are no open recalls or issues. Again that is another safety issue. I have a ford bronco that had a reverse camera and display issue and it has a active recall on it. This f250 experiences the same issues. I don't know why it is not recalled

My Ford brake malfunction when i was applied the brake while towing a UHaul trailer. It locked up and warning light showed up on the dashboard. The trailer got away from my truck, hit the rear of my truck and went on the other side of road and hit an oncoming car

Vehicle: 2020 Ford F‑250 Super Duty VIN: [XXX] Issue: Front / CHMSL camera intermittent or inoperative Ford CSP 20B39 applies CSP cannot be completed due to Gateway Module failure Ford has not responded despite multiple written requests I have personally sent emails to them on: Sent April 6 Sent April 9 Sent April 16 4/29 - Called and asked for coordination. Received no acknowledgment RE: Request for Coordination With Dealer to Complete Recall 20B39 [XXX] [XXX] > Thu, Apr 16, 11:59 AM (13 days ago) to crcfmc, [XXX] , [XXX] , [XXX] Dear Ford Customer Relationship Center, I'm writing to follow up again on my previous emails of April 6 and April 9 regarding my 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty (VIN: [XXX] ). I have not received any response or confirmation of receipt. I want to correct my earlier characterization — after further research, I understand that 20B39 is a Customer Satisfaction Program, not a safety recall. That said, the core issue and my position remain the same, and I want to lay out where things stand clearly. The situation: - My vehicle is covered under CSP 20B39 (Front View and CHMSL Camera — PCB conductivity issue causing intermittent camera operation) - The program is in effect through November 30, 2030 or 150,000 miles, and the repair is to be performed at no charge to the vehicle owner - My servicing dealer, Santa Margarita Ford, attempted to complete the CSP work but could not because the vehicle's Gateway Module is not communicating properly - The dealer has advised that the Gateway Module must be replaced before the camera work under XXX can be completed My position: Ford issued CSP XXX and committed to completing this repair at no charge. If the Gateway Module must be functional in order for Ford's own program to be executed, then resolving the Gateway Module issue is Ford's prerequisite to meet — not an out-of-pocket cost to push to the customer. I'm not asking for anything beyond INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Component: Air Conditioning / Heater Subject: Recurrent HVAC System Failure - Passenger-Side Temperature Control Malfunction I am reporting a recurring failutre of the vehicle's HVAC system affecting the passenger-side temperature control. Specifically the passenger-side air vents intermittently and repeatedly blowing hot air while the driver-side continue to operate normally with cooled air. This condition results in inconsistent cabin temperature control andrenders the air conditioning system ineffective for occupants on the passenger side. Timeline of Failures and Repairs: July 2023: Initial occurrence of passenger side hot air condition. Vehicle was taken to authorized Ford dealership (McRee Ford). Repairs were performed; however the specific root cause either identified or not permanently corrected as another recurrence happened August 2025: Took it back to McRee Ford due to an identical issue reoccurred where the passenger side was blowing hot air. They attempted to repair with the same technician and was again only a temporary resolution as the issue again occurred March 2026: Passenger side blowing hot air for the third time. Took it to a different authorized Ford dealership (Cook Ford) where again, it was identified as a blend door actuator issue. Safety Concern: While the issue may appear to be a comfort concern, it presents a potential safety risk in high temperature environments such as Texas. (Heat related stress or illness for passengers) Multiple authorized dealership seem to be unable to resolve the issue. Currently vehicle is with Cook Ford and was advised that additional funding would be needed for a permanent fix. I've already been financially burdened with taking the vehicle twice to McRee Ford and now a third time to Cook Ford for the same issue, and being told upfront that the failure may again happen. I request an investigation into this matter and HVAC issue. Thank you.

Back window has dropped 1/4 to 1/2 inch to the right. and is not in alignment. Safety concern that window could fall out or pop out during accident. No reason for window to just drop. Believe not installed correctly or sealants have failed cause of defect and window to drop and separate molding down to become detached right side. See pictures attached.

This vehicle is subject to two open safety recalls for which no repair remedy is currently available from the manufacturer: 1. Recall 24V957 (24S78) Dec 20, 2024 involves the high-pressure fuel pump and powertrain control system. The recall states the fuel pump may fail and cause extended cranking/no start or loss of motive power while driving. Loss of motive power while in traffic or while towing increases the risk of a crash. The manufacturer has stated that parts and/or software are not available to repair this defect. The vehicle is regularly used for towing a recreational trailer, which increases the safety risk if loss of power occurs during operation, especially at highway speeds or while merging. 2. Recall 25V686 (25SA8) Oct 10, 2025 involves the 360-degree/rear-view camera system. The recall states that the rear camera image may become dark in certain reversing situations when front and side cameras are exposed to significantly more light than the rear camera. Reduced visibility while reversing increases crash risk, particularly when maneuvering a large pickup truck. The manufacturer has acknowledged both recalls but has not provided a repair remedy within a reasonable timeframe. The powertrain-related recall has remained unresolved for an extended period. The vehicle has not been repaired because the manufacturer states parts/software are unavailable. At this time, the defect conditions have not resulted in a confirmed failure event, but the vehicle continues to be operated with open safety recalls that cannot be remedied. The safety risk remains present due to lack of available repair. Due to the prolonged unavailability of a repair remedy for a recall involving potential loss of motive power, I am unable to safely use the vehicle for its intended purpose of towing, as doing so would increase the risk of a crash if the defect occurs.

The backup camera has a VERY elongated view so that what is seen on the screen is extremely stretched out and is almost unusable. I have owned many of these vehicles over the years and the cameras provided a good enough view that you could use it for backing up, as it should be. The current camera makes things behind you look very far away and things next to you look like you're going to hit them when you're actually several feet away (4'-6').

I was driving on I-77 WV Turnpike when suddenly my moon roof shattered. No other vehicles were around and no overpasses in sight. When I pulled over, the glass was raised as if the blowout came from inside the vehicle. It sounded like a gunshot went off inside my truck. Vehicle has been repaired. Replacement glass was $1,800.00

This issue with the truck has been going on since last year can be driving down the highway at a speed of 55 to 70 mph depending on the speed limit and the truck will start jerking and bucking to the point where it will almost sling you through the windshield and the reduced engine power will come on and you have no power at all taking it to the Ford dealership to get the powertrain control module reprogrammed I was informed that would fix the issue it did not there was a recall on the cp4 high pressure fuel pump that was manufactured by Bosch i have one of those fuel pumps in the ford company said 2017 f250 super duty diesel wasn't apart of the recall why did they all of a sudden do a recall to have the power train control module programmed on my 2017 Ford f250 super duty diesel that is the same thing that is called for in the recall of the high pressure cp4 fuel pump on other models this is becoming an issue because i have the exact same fuel pump made by Bosch and the same symptoms are happening as to the recall of the fuel pump in other year models I took my truck to the dealership to have it reprogrammed and it is still doing the same thing the day that I took it over there and they do nothing about it this could cause someone's life to be on the line when driving this particular year make and model and they do not want to recognize that it's coming from the cp4 high pressure fuel pump

The rear view backup camera will get scrambled or become blurry from time to time . It is happening more frequently causing the inability to know what is behind you when backing up.

I was driving down HWY 79 in South Dakota. It was 3:00 pm on Saturday Jan. 31st. Out of know where, with not a single vehicle within eyesight, my sunroof exploded. It sounded like a gun shot went off right above my head, and there was glass flying everywhere. This 100% was not due to another vehicle throwing an object up in the air. There was not another vehicle anywhere. After researching this on the internet, it seems this is a reoccurring issue with these Fords that Ford is not taking accountability for. I called the local dealer and was told it would not be covered under warrantee.
