General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon, GMC Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade, and Cadillac Escalade ESV vehicles equipped with 10 Speed Transmission with ETRS (Electronic Transmission Range Select). The transmission control valve may fail and lock up the rear wheels.

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Cadillac CT4 and CT5; 2021-2023 Buick Envision; and 2022-2023 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles. The daytime running lights (DRLs) may not deactivate when the headlights are on. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Risk: DRLs that do not deactivate as intended may result in a glare, reducing visibility, and increasing the risk of a crash.

General Motors, LLC (M) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles equipped with third-row seats. The rivet that retains the buckle to the mounting bracket in the left or right side third-row seat belt buckle assembly may have been improperly formed.

Risk: A seat belt with a deformed rivet may not properly restrain an occupant, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

Corrective Actions: General Motors will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the transmission control module software to detect excess wear in advance of a wheel lock up. We were driving back from vacation in a 2022 Yukon Denali with less than 40,000 miles on it when our engine completely seized. We were going highway speeds in a remote area. 4 kids were in our car, one of them only 1 month old. We were stranded for 10 hours. Engine needs to be completely replaced. GM is not providing any assistance.

ENGINE

Engine would tick and burn oil after the updated recall was done. There would be a hesitation occasionally when applying gas when pulling out from stop sign or stoplight. The engine stalled and would not restart. It would crank over but it was a super fast and elongated turn over. We had to call a tow truck and have it towed. The dealership said they found nothing wrong and sent us back out with it. We sent it to another dealership would replaced the auto start stop switch, changed the belts, and did a fuel/valve treatment to clean the fuel system. We got it back and ran it less than 30 days when we picked it up from the dealership after we changed the engine oil, my wife headed out of town on the highway headed to pick up our daughter and the car made it less than 6 miles before it lost power and shut off going 65 mph and almost caused her to get in a wreck. The engine did not turn back over and would not start. Sent it back to the dealership and they found a crank bearing had seized and they replaced the engine. We just got it back but we are not holding our breath since we know so many people here in our small town who have had their engines replaced and we have heard of people getting multiple engines replaced! There fix is not a fix and when these motors go down at highway or freeway speeds it is extremely dangerous. It’s also dangerous for people when they get stranded out in the middle of no where.

POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DIFFERENTIAL UNIT

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that there was an abnormal moaning and grinding sound coming from the vehicle. The contact became aware of the uneven wear on the tires. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the differential needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle previously had an alignment and fluid flush performed. The contact stated that the failure was related to TSB: 21-NA-028 – (Rear Differential Moan/Chatter). The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 39,000.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Vehicle is a 2022 GMC Yukon Denali with the 6.2L L87 V8, covered by NHTSA Recall 25V-274 (GM N252494001). The recall remedy was performed. The engine passed the dealer inspection and was given the higher-viscosity 0W-40 oil remedy rather than an engine replacement. On 05/26/2026, at approximately 43,000 miles, the vehicle suffered a sudden engine knock while being driven by my wife. At the same time, the dash displayed Service ESC and Service Traction Control warnings, the vehicle's speed fluctuated on its own without driver input, and the air suspension cycled up and down while the vehicle was in motion. The vehicle had to be towed to the dealer. The dealer diagnosed a failed lifter with resulting camshaft damage and repaired it under the powertrain warranty. The vehicle was out of service approximately fifteen days. Shortly after the vehicle was returned, it began displaying a "Theft Attempted" message on the dash every day. I reported this to the dealer in writing on 06/15/2026 with a photograph at 43,898 miles. The dealer stated it was unlikely to be related and did not scan or diagnose it. On 07/14/2026, approximately 560 miles after the repair, the vehicle became inoperable and had to be towed to the dealer a second time. It is currently at the dealer and has not yet been diagnosed. The unexpected loss of power, speed fluctuation, and stability-control failure at road speed present a serious crash risk. This vehicle passed the 25V-274 inspection remedy and then experienced a valvetrain failure regardless, which is directly relevant to Recall Query RQ26001 into the adequacy of that remedy.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Yukon. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, an abnormal knocking and ticking sound emanated from the engine before the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed with total engine failure, requiring replacement. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact stated that the current engine was a replacement engine from a previous failure, which was tested prior to installation but also failed. Additionally, the contact stated after the failure, the transmission could not be shifted into Neutral, forcing the tow operator to drag the vehicle onto the flatbed truck. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the latest failure. The failure mileage was 45,000.

ENGINE

My 2022 GMC Yukon (6.2L L87 V8, VIN [XXX]) is covered by recall 25V-274 / GM N252494000, "L87 Engine Loss of Propulsion." In May 2025, at about 65,800 miles, the engine lost power and shut down while I was driving, then developed a loud knocking noise and an intermittent low-oil-pressure warning. The dealer (The Faricy Boys Automotive, Salida, CO) found excessive metal in the oil sample and replaced the entire engine under this recall in June 2025. The original engine serial was [XXX]; the replacement serial is [XXX]. On XXX, at about 93,000 miles — roughly 27,000 miles after the recall repair — the REPLACEMENT engine GM installed began making the same knocking noise. A dealer (Turner Automotive, Montrose, CO) has confirmed the engine is failing and has ordered a second replacement engine. The recall remedy GM performed did not fix the defect; the engine GM installed to cure the recall is now exhibiting the same failure mode (knocking / loss of propulsion). When the engine failed on XXX, GM Roadside Assistance refused to cover towing despite the engine's replacement coverage, and I had to pay roughly $484 out of pocket to tow the vehicle about 74 miles to the nearest dealer. This is a safety issue: the defect causes loss of motive power, and in my first failure the vehicle shut down while I was driving. I am reporting this because the recall remedy itself appears defective, consistent with NHTSA Recall Query RQ26001 regarding the adequacy of the remedy for campaign 25V-274. POWER TRAIN

With no warning, my engine 6.2 L stopped running at highway speeds and failed to restart. The power train completely failed for a second time after having a previous engine replaced for the same failure in 2024. I had the car inspected per the recall along with changes in the oil viscosity as recommended along with service inspection. The car left me stranded again on rural highway for over 5 hours in temps that exceeded 98 degrees. The car would not start and went into a power save shutdown and had to be towed to the dealer. I was fortunate to have avoided any traffic on the highway enough to get the car off the road. This is not safe to drive on the highway and GMC has known defect and safety concern with this issue.

POWER TRAIN

with no warning ,the GMC 6.2L engine failed on my family trip to Colorado. The engine seized at HWY speeds, stopped running, failed to restart and had to be towed to local dealer. This issue is a known GMC defect with numerous reports and a safety recall issue. I was fortunate to be able to move offer in hwy traffic and get to the shoulder where my situation took 8 hours travel time to continue my family trip.

SUSPENSION

The rear shocks in my GMC Yukon AT4 failed and began leaking and had to be replaced. This supposed to be an off-road durable suspension and the shocks are failing?

with no warning ,the GMC 6.2L engine failed on my family trip to Colorado. The engine seized at HWY speeds, stopped running, failed to restart and had to be towed to local dealer. This issue is a known GMC defect with numerous reports and a safety recall issue. I was fortunate to be able to move offer in hwy traffic and get to the shoulder where my situation took 8 hours travel time to continue my family trip.

ENGINE

With no warning, my engine 6.2 L stopped running at highway speeds and failed to restart. The power train completely failed for a second time after having a previous engine replaced for the same failure in 2024. I had the car inspected per the recall along with changes in the oil viscosity as recommended along with service inspection. The car left me stranded again on rural highway for over 5 hours in temps that exceeded 98 degrees. The car would not start and went into a power save shutdown and had to be towed to the dealer. I was fortunate to have avoided any traffic on the highway enough to get the car off the road. This is not safe to drive on the highway and GMC has known defect and safety concern with this issue.

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle suddenly entered LIMP mode, the speed was reduced, and the vehicle failed to exceed 55 MPH. The Check Engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who diagnosed that an emission system failure had occurred, but the cause of the failure was not determined. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 11,000.

The engine began making a metallic knocking noise while at idle and very soon after began to make the same noise under acceleration. This noise sounded very much like the onset of rod bearing failure. The vehicle was driven straight home and parked. We called the dealership the next day and made a service appointment. As I drove the vehicle to the dealership, the engine noise became worse and was clattering very loudly as I pulled into the dealership parking lot. I pulled into a parking spot and let the engine idle with the transmission in Park while I was collecting some personal items when the engine stalled. I tried several times to start the engine but it would not crank. The dealership engine tech later confirmed that the engine was seized

ENGINE

The engine had a sudden loss of propulsion on the highway traveling at 70mph. It went into netural and I had to coast to the side. Power cycled and it started back up for 15 more miles, then did it again and would not go out of park. Towed to dealer. PICO L87 recall was completed prior to purchasing the vehicle. 300 miles after purchase, the engine locked up. Dealer confirmed its an L87 recall failure. Vehicle was inspected on 4/21/2026. I have been waiting on a motor for 7 weeks with no movement.

POWER TRAIN

During normal driving conditions the vehicle had set code P18A1 in the ECM. Code set due to an internal short in one of the solenoids in the valve body assembly. This caused the vehicle to display "Limp Mode" and lose reverse gear and propulsion over 45 mph. The vehicle was parked and towed to the dealership for evaluation. Upon inspection by a certified dealer technician, it was found that a solenoid had failed and required replacing. As part of the entire valve body, the solenoid is not a serviceable part. The dealership had to replaced the entire valve body assembly per repair guidelines. Per the GM and NHTSA websites, my 2022 GMC Yukon XLT with a 10-speed transmission is not included in the recalls listed below even though the symptoms are identical. General Motors publicly acknowledged the 10‑speed transmission valve body and solenoid defects, including internal electrical and hydraulic failures, through Safety Recalls, Special Coverage programs, and Technical Service Bulletins applicable to 2020– 2022 full‑size trucks and SUVs, including the GMC Yukon. My vehicle’s model year, transmission type, failure code (P18A1), and repair align with those documented GM conditions and should be included in this recall.

ENGINE

Experiencing a stuck lifter in the DFM module. After doing some research, it appears there are a bunch of other people that are dealing with the same issue. The only recall was for the 6.2L engine but not the 5.3L. It appears that both engines are experiencing the exact same issue and GM hasn’t done anything to help with it.
