The connecting rod and/or crankshaft engine components may have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine damage and engine failure.

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, 2023-2024 Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon, Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade, and Escalade ESV vehicles. The electronic brake control module software may fail to display a warning light when a loss of brake fluid occurs. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Vehicle Safety Standard number 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."

Risk: Without a warning light, the vehicle may be driven with low brake fluid, which can reduce braking performance and increase the risk of a crash.

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles. The rear suspension outer control arm bolts may not have been properly heat-treated, which can cause the bolts to break.

Risk: A broken suspension bolt can result in misalignment of the rear wheel, increasing the risk of a crash.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING:LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE:SOFTWARE

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Cadillac CT4 and CT5; 2021-2023 Buick Envision; and 2022-2023 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles. The daytime running lights (DRLs) may not deactivate when the headlights are on. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Risk: DRLs that do not deactivate as intended may result in a glare, reducing visibility, and increasing the risk of a crash.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the connecting rods and/or crankshaft components may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the engine could make abnormal noises and a warning light may turn on. If you continue to drive the vehicle with these symptoms, the engine could fail. Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles equipped with a 6.2 L V8 gas engine. Safety Risk: An engine failure could cause a sudden loss of power to the wheels and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: General Motors will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to inspect and, if necessary, repair or replace the engine. For vehicles that pass the engine inspection, the dealer will replace the oil with a higher viscosity oil, install a new oil fill cap, replace the oil filter, and add an insert to the owner's manual.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

I have a 2023 GMC Yukon AT4. The OnStar/telematics system stopped working. The blue OnStar button does not function and the vehicle no longer communicates with the myGMC app, resulting in loss of connected and OnStar services. A GMC dealership diagnosed a failed OnStar/telematics module and advised that the module must be replaced at a cost of approximately $1,200. I am concerned because this failure affects access to OnStar communication and emergency-related services. I have found reports from other GM owners describing similar telematics/OnStar module failures, and GM has issued service information addressing K73 telematics-module communication faults. I have also opened a case with GMC Customer Assistance. I am reporting this because I believe the repeated failure of a system used for emergency communication warrants investigation.

POWER TRAIN

About 6 times during higher speed operation 80+km/hr during a downshift, the rear wheels lock up causing panic from screeching tires and sudden deceleration. Extremely unsafe. The vehicle is in with the dealership and as suspected, they can't find any issues with codes or transmission pressures. We even have a sound recording of the tires locking up. My 2023 GMC Yukon has had a strong mildew/musty odor coming from the HVAC system since the vehicle was new. The odor is most noticeable every time the vehicle is started after it has been sitting for several hours or overnight. After the system runs for a short time, the odor dissipates. This concern has been reported to my GMC dealer on multiple occasions. Previous repair attempts have not permanently corrected the problem, and the odor continues to worsen. The smell is now strong enough that it is embarrassing to have passengers in the vehicle. I have followed the recommended preventive measures, including replacing the cabin air filter, turning the A/C compressor off several minutes before shutting the vehicle off, and attempting to clean the HVAC system with commercially available products. None of these measures have resolved the issue. Based on discussions with other GMC Yukon owners, this appears to be a common and recurring problem affecting numerous vehicles of similar model years. Many owners report the same symptoms and repeated unsuccessful repair attempts. This suggests the issue may be related to the design or operation of the HVAC system, particularly moisture remaining on the evaporator core, rather than normal maintenance. I am requesting that GMC investigate this recurring defect and provide a permanent repair rather than temporary odor treatments. Owners should not have to repeatedly clean or service the HVAC system to address a condition that has existed since the vehicle was new.

am filing a formal complaint regarding my 2023 GMC Yukon Denali, which experienced a catastrophic engine failure while I was driving on the highway with my family. The sudden failure created a dangerous situation, placing both my family and me at significant risk. As a result of the breakdown, I was forced to pay $260 out of pocket to have the vehicle towed to the dealership. After inspecting the vehicle, the dealership advised me that the engine requires complete replacement. There was no indication that the engine was going to go. Thankfully there was a shoulder on the highway and we were able to pull over. This could have caused an accident could've been fatal.

On June 25, 2026 my 2023 GMC Yukon Denali with 53,456 miles was brought to an authorized GMC dealership after displaying a Service 4WD warning light and exhibiting a groaning noise when shifting into Drive and Reverse. The vehicle was diagnosed with the following brake system fault codes: P25A2, C0511, C0517, C1595 and C1596. These codes indicate brake control module failure and wheel speed sensor faults which are safety critical components. The dealership confirmed these findings but stated the repairs are not covered under the GMC powertrain warranty. Given that these are safety critical brake system failures on a nearly new vehicle with only 53,456 miles, we contacted GMC Customer Care on July 1, 2026 to request coverage under goodwill warranty as we believe these failures constitute a manufacturing defect. A case was opened however after 7 days no case advisor has been assigned and no decision has been made despite two promised timelines not being met. The brake system failures on a nearly new vehicle represent a serious safety concern as these systems directly affect the vehicle's ability to stop safely. The vehicle has been at the dealership since June 25, 2026 and remains unrepaired.

The panoramic sunroof has a substantial leak, even though the 2023 vehicle only has 33,000 miles on it. The drain lines are clear but water continues to significantly leak out of the rear passenger seatbelt housing onto the seatbelt. There is also significant water drainage through the rear interior lights onto the upper legs of rear passengers (children in car seats), causing a severe electrical hazard. The leaking caused by the drainage defect affects the interior lighting, the seatbelts, and is a potential electric hazard. This seems to be a common occurrence and the manufacturer should repair their defective products. The drainage pipes are obviously either not assembled correctly or the materials don’t hold up. This should not be occurring in a $55,000 vehicle with 30,000 miles. I have multiple videos I can provide but the file sizes are too large to upload, so I took screenshots. I am going to pay for the repair but I should be reimbursed by GMC.

The drain lines are clear but water continues to significantly leak out of the rear passenger seatbelt housing onto the seatbelt. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The panoramic sunroof has a substantial leak, even though the 2023 vehicle only has 33,000 miles on it. The drain lines are clear but water continues to significantly leak out of the rear passenger seatbelt housing onto the seatbelt. There is also significant water drainage through the rear interior lights onto the upper legs of rear passengers (children in car seats), causing a severe electrical hazard. The leaking caused by the drainage defect affects the interior lighting, the seatbelts, and is a potential electric hazard. This seems to be a common occurrence and the manufacturer should repair their defective products. The drainage pipes are obviously either not assembled correctly or the materials don’t hold up. This should not be occurring in a $55,000 vehicle with 30,000 miles. I have multiple videos I can provide but the file sizes are too large to upload, so I took screenshots. I am going to pay for the repair but I should be reimbursed by GMC.

ENGINE

My car started making a knocking noise under the hood 2 days prior to it breaking down (6/19 & 6/20). On 6/21/26, I was driving down the interstate WITH my kids in the car and it shut down on its own. Lights came on my dash and the vehicle quickly slowed itself down and when I pulled over to a complete stop, the vehicle shifted into neutral and shut off. I was not able to crank it back up and had to pay a tow company $243 out of pocket to tow it to our local dealership in town. My insurance only covers $200 for towing. I am a week without a vehicle and just found out Friday (6/26) that a new motor will have to be ordered but it is on back order with no idea on when it may arrive. I cannot get an answer from GM or my local dealership on if a rental will be provided. I cannot make 2 car payments but I also have a job and cannot proceed without having a vehicle to drive. This has put me in a bind for a week already with no solution in sight. I expect GM to fix my problem asap since it is theirs to fix!!

VISIBILITY/WIPER

The vehicle is equipped with “rain-sensing windshield wipers” but they do not work due to poor design. They should not have failed this quickly (33,000 or so miles). The windshield wipers must be manually activated because of this defect, but since the manufacturer thought they would be automatic, they made the manual activation very hard to access. It is very dangerous trying to activate them while operating the vehicle because A) your eyes are off the road for an extended period in poor conditions and B) the control is in a hard-to-reach area. You have to turn the nob 6-7 positions to put the wipers on low or high, and for the first 5 positions the windshield wipers don’t activate.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

The contact owns a 2023 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the low engine oil warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The contact stated that the recall repair was completed several months ago; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.

Engine knocking vechile had loss of power. Had towed to dealer. Throwing all kinds of codes 6.2 L v8. Truck passed GM crap test in September and here we are at 59,000 with a blown motor. Lucky it did not go out under power and kill me or my small kids and family that was going to vacation with this truck the next day

On June 13, 2026, at approximately 80,390 miles, the vehicle suddenly lost propulsion while being driven with five children in the vehicle. The vehicle became inoperable and required towing. Dealer subsequently diagnosed engine failure and has ordered a replacement engine. This failure happened with out warning.
