The rear shocks in my GMC Yukon AT4 failed and began leaking and had to be replaced. This supposed to be an off-road durable suspension and the shocks are failing?

So the shock strut system up front has a grommet that holds it in. The repair order said they put a shock simulator in the car and it gave false reading saying it was good and it came out broke break line and caused me to jump a curve to stop the vehicle. Air bag suspension does not work in sub freezing temperatures. Vehicle bounces up and down excessively and is extremely unstable and unsafe to drive at any speed. Vehicle speed was limited to 56 mph. Dealer stated that this is a known flaw but not recall has been issued. This is a design flaw that GMC should be responsible to correct.

In 2024, while the vehicle was still under warranty, we brought it to our GM dealer due to an air suspension fault. The problem typically occurs in extreme cold weather, and following that visit, we did not experience further issues during the remainder of that winter as it was never that cold again. However, the following winter the same issue returned and was diagnosed yet again, and this year we are again experiencing the identical problem with the same diagnostic code which has been diagnosed by 2 dealers and a private mechanic in the last week. It has since become clear that the underlying issue was never properly repaired during the 2024 warranty visit. We recently learned that approximately 3.5 weeks after our 2024 service appointment, GM released a service bulletin outlining the correct repair procedure for this exact issue. We were not notified of this bulletin by the original servicing dealer. This information only came to our attention when we brought the vehicle to a GM dealer last week, where the issue was properly diagnosed and now they are refusing to fix it without us paying $4300 even though it was brought to their attention in 2024 while under warranty. A failed air suspension presents a safety concern, not merely a ride-comfort issue. When the system fails, the vehicle may sit unevenly or at an incorrect ride height, which can affect vehicle stability, steering response, braking geometry, and traction—particularly in cold weather and at highway speeds. Because the failure is intermittent and temperature-related, it is unpredictable and increases the risk of loss of control. The vehicle is not operating as designed when the air suspension is compromised. GM knows about this issue as they did indeed issue a bulletin that covers our vehicle and this was done when my car was still under warranty, but it was not brought to our attention that it existed until this year after the car's warranty was up. 2 seal kits, air springs and the struts!

As of [XXX] , I witnessed a squealing sound coming from the rear end of my 2018 Denali Yukon XL truck. And it's affecting my braking. And it jerked when I changed my gears on my truck . And there are lights on in my dashboard on my truck. The engine light was blinking on and off and the traction control light was blinking on and off also. This is a follow-up to two previous complaints. The first complaint was filed around 5/22/25, and the second complaint was filed around 7/08/25. The complaint is related to a 2022 GMC Yukon that we purchased new. As reported in the previous complaints, we experienced several problems with the suspension and steering of the vehicle. The SUV continues to have a knocking, cracking, snapping noise coming from the front suspension when making a right or left turn, or u-turn. The dealer has made several attempts to fix it, but continues to occur. The warning lights continue to be set on and off, but not as often. The infoentertainment system as well. One of the other reported issues was the low oil warning light coming up and thus oil consumption. The SUV was taken to the dealer on 9/11/25, and the GMC service staff reported the SUV, during the summer hot days, was 1.9, almost two quarts. They asked to drive the SUV for an additional 2000 miles, and it was short by .9 quart. GMC claimed it is normal, but per their recommendations on oil changes, the vehicle would be 7 quarts between oil changes unless the driver checks the level every 1500 to 2000 miles. Not only was the information misleading as they denied to perform any services, but also is a safety concern for the damages it can cause to the vehicle, especially if it goes on safety mode. Around 7/24/25, we submitted a request for a buy-back to GM, which they approved 30 days later; however, they still have not made good on the promise, and the vehicle remains with these safety, operational, and mechanical issues.

On 5/22/2025, I filed a complaint with NHTSA, complaint number 11662650. In the complaint, I reported issues regarding safety concerns that began around October 2023 and were shortly after reported to GMC. Some of the reported issues were concerns with oil consumption due to warning lights coming on; parking warning sensors intermittently coming on; and what appears to be suspension issues as there continues to be a knocking, cracking, and snapping noise coming from the front suspension when making a left or right turn, along with a bumping when in motion, among other issues such as Infotertainment that continues to be an issue. Recently, we took our SUV to a GMC authorized dealer since it was still under warranty and these issues continued to persist and it is getting worse. The vehicle was left around 5/28/25 and picked up on 6/17/25. However, less than a couple of weeks after, we started experiencing the same issues with the suspension as the knocking, cracking, snapping, and bumping is getting more obvious and worse, and it appears is affecting the steering and alignment of the SUV. My wife and I purchased a new 2022 Yukon around July 4, 2022. The vehicle came with a 36k or 3 years warranty. Around October 2023, we experienced several safety concern issues with the SUV and around 11/01/23, we reported these issues to a GMC dealer. Around 11/01/23, we took our SUV for service at an approved GMC dealer and reported issues with the steering suspension such as a knocking, snapping, and cracking sound when making a turn, and a bumping when making a U-turn or left turn into a parking spot. We also reported issues with the parking and key sensors. We were informed the issue was fixed and that some suspension bolts were loosed and needed to be torqued. On 1/29/24, we took the SUV back for some of these same reasons after other dealers declined to take our SUV under warranty. Once more, the issue was temporarily fixed. We have now scheduled another appointment for these same reasons of knocking, cracking, and bumping when coming from the front suspension and when making a turn or U-turn. In addition, we are now experiencing oil warning lights for a second time as oil comsumption. We believe these are serious safety issues, especially with any potential failure of the suspension under rain, fog conditions, and the lack of resolution and wonder if other similar issues have been reported or experienced by similar drivers of these vehicles. i HAVE A SERVICE SUSPENSION LIGHT THAT CONTINUES TO POP UP ON DASHBOARD THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IS THE BRAKE LIGHTS. I have previously had the passenger side brake light stop working. In order to repair this you have to order a whole new taillight. My vehicle was approximatly 6 years old when this started happening. First incident (2022 with approximately 65000 miles) Yesterday, I was pulled over by a policeman and both of my brake lights are not working. We found a way to sauder (I know this is incorrect spelling) the broken metal piece back together in the taillight; however, this is not the correct way to fix the underlying problem and clearly it is only a temporary fix because the passenger side broke again in a new spot.

1.)Rear Brakes are not functioning properly. They still have pads but when you press down to pump the brake it fails. I was told by a mechanic that they other GMC vehicles have had recalls on this, but mine is not showing one. 2.)The suspension on this vehicle has never worked properly. It rides extremely rough. It has some special suspension in it from a shock perspective, but it feels as if it often fails. 3.) I had to replace the torque converter in this vehicle last year, and the fluid that runs through it. Apparently this is a known issue with no recall. 4.) the transmission slips when the vehicle shifts gears. It shifts hard. Also a known issue with no recall.

Rear Lower control mounts completely rusted out allowing the rear to move back and the driveshaft to come out of the transmission. Fortunately, this happened 1 block from home at a stop sign, if it occurred on a highway, it would have caused a major accident and likely injuries. Complete frame is rusted to the point of failure, heard from others that this has happened to other makes of GM products, Tahoe, Chevy pickup trucks. They likely all share the same frame.
