Manufacturer fails to cover repair at 100% Power Loss while driving on the freeway on 2 separate occasions. Engine did not provide power in response to accelerator pedal, car slows down w/o control. I am getting increasing frequency of cylinder misfire, so far cylinder 1 and 2, and the car goes to a limb mode and loose power. It happens during acceleration to a highway ramp. Engine lights and other many warning lights come on, the car goes into limb mode, I pull over and when I turn the engine off and turns back on the warning lights clear and the car drives normally until next time, to start all over again. I took it two Honda dealers at three occasions. Since the engine light goes off, and they cannot capture the issue, they are telling me there is nothing they can do. It seems to happen during a normal driving than sport mode. It is frustrating and dangerous situation. I thought I would report it, to save others from similar situation

The issue occurs seemingly randomly about once a month when driving on the highway. All of the sudden the car starts de-accelerating. Even if you push the gas pedal all the way down it doesn’t go. It just goes slower and slower and thank goodness I’ve been able to pull over every time. Once I shutdown the car completely and turn back on then I have power again.

Been dealing with an intermittent flashing engine light issue for the past 1.5 to 2 years. We bought this car brand new in 2021 and the first time this happened the car was barely 3 years old. Whenever this issue occurs, the check engine light would flash and the car would lose engine power (pressing down on the accelerator does nothing). Once stopped, we can hear loud knocking noises from the engine. Usually turning the car off and then back on resets the behavior and the car operates normally. However, this is a very dangerous issue as it sometimes happen on the highway. It took us almost 2 years to successfully pull the error codes because, for reasons we can't understand, Honda designed this error code to clear itself after 3 uneventful drive cycles (as told to us by two separate dealers). We took the car to the various shops multiple time and they were never able to reproduce or diagnose the issue. Finally we were able to get the codes pulled at an O'Reilly's right after it happened, and the codes they found were: - Cylinder 1 misfire - Cylinder 2 misfire - Random misfires We took it to a dealer afterward and they ran a fuel/air ratio test and said everything looked fine; then they examined the fuel valves and noticed they were all overly tight. They believed that was the root cause and adjusted them to spec; we had to pay $1000 for the adjustment because for some reason this was considered a "maintenance item" even though we have never touched the fuel valves and the car was not due for this particular maintenance item until 100K miles, so I don't understand why this shouldn't be covered under warranty. In any case, it turned out the fuel valve adjustments didn't fix the issue and it happened again, so the car's back in the dealership now. I found a bunch of similar complaints pertaining to this vehicle model, and it really deserves more. attention.

The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed with water intrusion in the canister valve. The water was flushed, and the system was restarted; however, the parts were not available to replace the canister valve. The vehicle was taken back to the same local dealer due to the failure recurring; however, the parts for the repairs were not replaced. The check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the same local dealer where it was diagnosed as needing further diagnostic tests and repairs. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired due to the cost. -The fuel injection system failed on my brand new Honda CRV and the engine light came on at around ~3,000 miles. Since the fuel injectors were replaced, the same problems and noises occur, but the Honda service repair cannot find a problem. The fuel injectors continue to fail, erratically using too much or too little gas during -trips with MPG well below the reported 38-40 MPG. - The car malfunctioned while I was out running errands. - The problem was confirmed by a dealer who replaced the fuel injectors, but the same problems persist and the dealer hasn't fixed it. - The manufacturer representative at Honda Corporate Office Customer Care refused to address concerns and it has not been inspected by anyone except a Honda Dealer. -The engine warning light came on ~3,000 miles during the first fuel injection failure

I own a 2021 Honda CR-V Touring hybrid and have had 2 incidents of what I have learned is called sudden unintentional acceleration (SUA). I bought the car new and took possession of it in the spring of 2021. The first incident occurred Nov 14, 2023 when I was parking at a restaurant. I was slowly pulling forward into a parking spot where there were unattended cars on either side of me as well as in front of me. Suddenly, without warning, I was surging with full force into the minivan parked ahead of me as well as the front end of the car parked next to it. I slammed on the brake but not before I had pushed the minvan several feet forward. I did not know how this happened but, even though I knew that I had not stepped on the gas pedal nor had something interfered with it, I assumed that I must have done something to cause this accident. Thousands of dollars of damage was done to my car as well as the other two vehicles that were struck. The second incident was June 11, 2025. I was slowly advancing forward into a hotel parking space. There was a curb at the end of the space with some landscaping behind that. The landscaping had an uphill incline with some large evergreens about 8-10 feet from the curb. Once again, the car suddenly surged forward, jumping the curb, and accelerating into the evergreens. I slammed on the brake, feeling like I was putting my foot through the floor. This was an exact repeat of the previous incident and I am absolutely certain that I did nothing to cause this acceleration to occur. I was able to back out of the evergreens and my car does not appear to be damaged. Airbags were not deployed in either incident. I went on-line and there are numerous reports of similar incidents among CR-v owners but I do not see any recalls or actions taken by Honda on this problem. I intend to take the car to the Honda dealer in the next week. I fear the next incident may result in injury or death.

My 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid began experiencing a noticeable loss of engine power and severe shaking while idling. The problem first appeared when I was parked with the engine running, and the car suddenly started vibrating strongly. Shortly after, the “Emissions System Problem” warning message appeared on the dashboard. A local Honda dealer suspected a malfunction in the fuel injector system, which may have led to improper fuel combustion, reduced acceleration, and overall unstable engine behavior. This issue could increase the risk of an accident, particularly when merging or accelerating in traffic, due to delayed throttle response. Many other CR-V Hybrid owners have reported similar symptoms online, pointing to a potential widespread defect in the fuel delivery system. Despite this, there is currently no official recall for the fuel injectors in this model. I am concerned that this issue, if left unresolved, could lead to engine damage or even pose a fire risk due to unregulated or incomplete fuel combustion. Given the number of reports and the potential danger, I respectfully urge the NHTSA to investigate this issue and consider initiating a recall to protect driver safety.

Car was towed to Dealership and after inspection, Fuel injectors and spark plug # 3 had to be replaced. While driving my 2020 Honda CRV Hybrid the check engine light came on and my speed reduced to 30mph on the highway. This first happened 5/31/2024 and I had it towed to Honda and Honda could not find the problem. I was told to bring it back in if it happened again. I asked Honda to report to their corporate representative because it was a dangerous issue, and was told we should not at this time. Then on 3/21/2025 less than a year later this occurred again and I bought it back to Honda and I am waiting for Honda to tell me what the issue is. This is a safety issue that has happened to other Honda hybrids not just to mine. Please help me on this matter they don’t seem to be able to know what the problem is and this is quite a safety concern.

The contact stated that while driving on a state road at 35 MPH, the contact reported seeing and smelling smoke inside the cabin of their vehicle, the smoke began to increasingly become heavy, and from the rearview mirror, flames could be seen emitted from the rear end of the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact immediately pulled over into a parking lot and exited the vehicle within minutes the vehicle was engulfed in flames. The origin of the fire was unknown. The fire was extinguished by the local fire department. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer where the vehicle was inspected and declared a total loss. It happened twice so far, while driving on the Highway, suddenly the car would no longer respond to the accelerator pedal and the car started losing speed meanwhile the warning lights flashes on the dashboard., In a panic we had to cruise to park on the highways shoulder. shut the car off thinking the car may have overheated or something, then restarted the engine and the dashboard was very normal, we proceeded to drive cautiously to mechanic, the mechanic found no error code to lead him to any diagnoses. The car drives normally after each incident. we are very concerned that this event could happen in critical situation and cause accident or the faulty component may causing this issue may lead to other more serious power train trouble that will not be covered by warranty in the future. by searching online, we found too many owners have had the same experience but we solution was offered by Honda. We urge you to investigate and help owners to be safe on the roads.
