Far right gauge in cluster, namely fuel level, mileage, warning icons etc only is visible when the vehicle is extremely warmed up. Otherwise, this gauge is totally black. Has been this way since 2019.

My gas instrument panel gauge works intermittently. This gauge shows the gas level, temperature and mileage information. There were no symptoms of this problem. A lot of the time the instrument panel that shows gas level, temperature and mileage information is blank. I feel this is a safety problem. Honda does know about this problem. If I took this to a Honda dealership to be fixed it would cost $1,800-$2,000 to fix. This is something that happened when this make and model: 2019 Honda HRV Sport was assembled at the factory.

The contact owns a 2022 Honda HR-V. The contact stated that after a rainstorm, the driver’s side floor was wet. The vehicle failed to start days later. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle had previously experienced a fuel pump failure. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The dealer stated that the failure might be related to the fuse box underneath the dashboard, the wiring harness, and there was corrosion from a water leak. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case. The case was later closed. The manufacturer confirmed that there was no warranty coverage on the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

LKAS lights all came on and ACC warnings. Brake system and auto high beams. Mechanic seems to think it’s the camera, car only has 84,000 miles on it and very well taken care of. This seems to be a big common issue with a lot of HRVs and it’s expensive to fix.

Instrument Cluster Failure Complaint – 2020 Honda HR-V VIN [XXX] I am reporting an intermittent instrument cluster failure affecting a 2020 Honda HR-V. The digital display that contains the fuel gauge, odometer, and mileage information intermittently becomes heavily pixelated or goes completely blank. I have been dealing with this issue for over a year. The car has 83K + miles. The problem occurs most often during cold weather but has also occurred during warmer temperatures. More rececntly it is happening daily. The display begins functioning again after the vehicle has warmed up, although the failure remains intermittent and unpredictable. Because the display fails without warning, the driver cannot reliably determine the vehicle's fuel level or view odometer and trip information while operating the vehicle. This creates unnecessary distraction and could present a safety concern, particularly during longer trips or in unfamiliar areas where accurate fuel level information is important. After researching this issue, I found numerous reports from other Honda HR-V owners describing nearly identical symptoms involving the instrument cluster on vehicles of the same generation. The consistency of these reports suggests that this may not be an isolated incident but rather a common manufacturing defect. I respectfully request that this matter be investigated to determine whether the instrument cluster failure is widespread enough to warrant corrective action, including the possibility of a Technical Service Bulletin or safety recall. Thank you for your consideration of this matter. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

2018 Honda Hr-V Bowling Green, MO

I am filing a formal complaint regarding two critical manufacturing defects on my 2018 Honda HR-V that pose immediate safety risks and financial losses: 1. CRITICAL SAFETY ISSUE (Instrument Gauge Failure): The digital display gauge on the right side of the driver's dashboard consistently blinks out and displays entirely unreadable, corrupted characters. This failure makes it impossible to monitor the fuel gauge or know how much gasoline remains in the vehicle. This defect is highly temperature-dependent, becoming severely worse during colder months. Not being able to read the fuel gauge creates an immediate, dangerous safety hazard, risking sudden, unexpected engine stalling on active highways or getting stranded in hazardous conditions. 2. MANUFACTURING DEFECT (Paint Delamination): The vehicle is exhibiting severe paint peeling and flaking on the roof in four distinct places. The exterior clear coat and base coat are actively separating from the underlying primer due to an inherent manufacturing adhesion failure. The vehicle features the White Orchid Pearl color (Paint Code: NH-788P). American Honda Motor Co. previously acknowledged this exact production defect by issuing a Warranty Extension under Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 19-064, extending coverage for 2016–2018 HR-Vs for 7 years. However, because this premature failure is only now manifesting on my vehicle, Honda Corporate and local dealerships are refusing to cover the thousands of dollars in necessary repair costs, claiming the 7-year window has expired. Limiting the remedy to an arbitrary timeframe for an inherent manufacturing defect leaves consumers with a structurally degrading vehicle (exposure to rust and metal deterioration) & zero recourse. Respectfully request that the Office of Defects Investigation compel American Honda to address the dashboard electrical failures and expand or reopen the remedy for known White Pearl paint peeling defect to ensure consumer safety& manufacturer accountability

The contact owns a 2025 Honda HR-V. The contact stated that after entering the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start, and the doors failed to lock. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, who diagnosed the vehicle with battery failure. The battery was replaced, but moments later, after leaving the dealer, the TPMS warning light illuminated. The vehicle was driven back to the dealer, and a software recalibration was performed, but the failure reoccurred. The next morning, the vehicle failed to immediately start. After the vehicle was restarted, it was driven to the dealer, and the contact was informed that the failure might have occurred due to an alarm failure affecting the battery. No further information was available. The contact stated that while attempting to switch to the left lane, the Lane Departure: Lane Keep feature malfunctioned, causing the vehicle to steer back into the right lane. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 16,800.

Components of concern: collision mitigation braking system - while driving with no car in front of vehicle, car slammed on brakes - could have caused an accident. Yes, available for inspection. Also, lights went off and said to see dealer (have picture that I'm having issues attaching). Lights that went off were : collision mitigation braking system, road departure mitigation system, auto high beam, adaptive cruise control, some driver assist systems cannot operate (clear front windshield or poor viewing distraction) - all at the same time, even when it's no visible windshield issues. Yes, available for inspection. Want to take to Honda dealership but I'm being charged $80 for a diagnostic when this is a system issue. Not yet

2022 Honda Hr-V Cortlandt Manor, NY

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The vehicle has a recurring safety defect where it suddenly shuts off / stalls while driving. This has happened multiple times, including immediately after the dealership performed repairs and issued "clean" diagnostic reports stating no issues were found. Key details: PCU codes were present on the first visit but were not properly addressed. Repair orders contain clear inconsistencies, including claims of test drives and mileage that do not match the actual odometer readings. On the most recent visit, I did not authorize any further repairs, yet the dealership now claims the vehicle is "resolved" and ready for pickup. The vehicle has been at Honda dealerships for a total of 57 days across multiple failed repair attempts. I have refused to take possession of the vehicle due to the ongoing safety risk of it shutting off while driving.

The informational digital panel that shows how much gas I have left in the tank comes off and on, doesn't come on at all and randomly shows crazy lights all while driving down the road! This has been happening since around 43,000 miles and I'm almost at 100,000 miles. It started right after the first software update on my suv. I reported the problem to my Honda dealer but was told they had never seen it, would just reset the software again. Problem was never fixed after reporting it every time I went for an oil change and even calling and reporting it. With each update, it seemed to get worse as if the attachment that they plugged into my suv was somehow loosening something inside. I know other people have the same problem because I have seen complaints all over the internet!

Complaint Regarding 2018 Honda HR-V AWD – Air Conditioning Failure, Odometer Malfunction, and Prior Fuel Pump Replacement. I am filing a complaint regarding my 2018 Honda HR-V AWD due to ongoing mechanical and electrical issues that appear to affect many Honda HR-V owners. The primary issue is the air conditioning system, which has not been functioning consistently. The A/C repeatedly fails to cool properly and intermittently stops working altogether. I am aware that many other Honda HR-V owners have reported similar air conditioning problems, and Honda has offered extended warranty coverage for certain Honda vehicles with A/C system defects. However, my vehicle has not been included in that extended coverage, despite experiencing the same recurring issues. In addition, the vehicle previously required a fuel pump replacement in 2021. I am concerned that this may indicate broader reliability and safety-related defects affecting this model. The vehicle is also experiencing mechanical and electrical problems involving the odometer/instrumentation system. The odometer has shown irregular behavior and appears to malfunction intermittently, raising concerns about the accuracy of vehicle information and overall reliability. I have been experiencing these issues for years without any resolution. I reached out to Honda Customer Service about these issues, but because my "VIN" is not included in the recall or extended warranty, I haven't been able to get much help. I believe these issues warrant investigation, particularly given the number of similar complaints from other Honda HR-V owners. I respectfully request that Honda be required to extend warranty coverage and corrective action to include affected 2018 Honda HR-V AWD vehicles like mine. Thank you for your attention to this matter

THE COMPONENT IS THE ELECTRIC DASHBOARD, WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, THE DASH BOARD GOES BLANK, I AM UNABLE TO SEE THE GAS LEVEL NOR THE SPEED. AT WHICH POINT IT BECOMES DISTRESSFUL FOR THE DRIVER. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO A INDEPENDENT SERVICE CENTER AND WAS TOLD TO REPORT THE ISSUES WITH MANUFACTURER. THE DASHBOARD HAD ALERT US FOR A TIRE ISSUE AND IT WAS RESOLVED HOWEVER THE SIGNAL KEEPS LIGHTING UP AND WE MAKE APPROPRIATE MEASURE TO SAFE GUARD THE TIRES. I BELIEVE THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE ELECTRIAL SYSTEM. AND THERE IS NO WARNING WHEN THE DASHBOARD WILL DISAPPEAR.

All of my braking/abs lights intermittently go on and off. My 2019 Honda HRV runs fine but when dealer looked at it they said it was the VSA and to replace would be over $4k. Dealer said eventually my vehicle may shut down if not taken care of. I am wondering if this is a common problem and if will be a recall?
