Owners have filed 195 complaints
about the 2007 Honda Ridgeline with NHTSA between 2007 and 2025.
The largest single group is the airbags.
Across this model's run it ranks 9 of 19 worst.
The letter says how bad. This says what kind — whether this year drew
an unusual number of complaints, unusually dangerous
ones, or failures that arrived unusually early.
The dashed ring is 50 — the national norm. Further out is worse.
Complaint volume — 68
Against the median year of the Honda Ridgeline. 50 means typical for this
model; 100 means roughly double.
Severity — 58
11.3% of these complaints
involved a crash, fire, injury or death, against a national rate of
9.7%.
Early failure — 20

36,000 miles, against a national rate of
29%.
How 2007 compares with every other Honda Ridgeline
NHTSA files every complaint against a named sub-assembly, not just a
system. This is the difference between knowing it was "the engine" and
knowing which part of it — the list to hand a mechanic.

When owners complained
A spike years after the car went on sale usually means a part wearing
out on schedule across the whole fleet — the kind of pattern no single
owner can see from inside their own car.

Recalls on the 2007 Honda Ridgeline
A complaint is one owner's allegation. A recall is the point at which
the manufacturer or a regulator agreed the defect is real and dangerous
enough to fix for free — however old the car is.
Canada — Transport Canada
Canada runs its own recall programme, and its campaigns do not
always mirror the American ones.
Recall 202232031,862 units in Canada
Structure
Issue: On certain vehicles, the rear frame could rust where the fuel tank and rear subframe are mounted. If this happens, the fuel tank and/or rear subframe mounts could separate from the frame. This can allow the fuel tank to fall and become damaged, which could cause a fuel leak. Safety Risk: A fuel leak can create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: Honda will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the rear frame for corrosion. Depending on the outcome of the inspection, the dealer will either apply corrosion protection and install a support brace, or repair the frame. Honda will offer to repurchase vehicles that do not pass the inspection.
Recall 2017009428,641 units in Canada
Airbag
On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, could eventually degrade the propellant contained in the passenger frontal airbag inflator. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. As a result, if the vehicle were involved in a collision that warrants airbag deployment, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants, and the airbag assembly could be damaged, preventing proper function. These issues could increase the risk of injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the passenger frontal airbag inflator. Note: Canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. The recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk, and is expected to replace airbag inflators before their function would be affected.
Recall 2016046269,201 units in Canada
Airbag
On certain vehicles, the driver frontal airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure during airbag deployment. Increased pressure may cause the inflator to rupture, which could allow fragments to be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury. This could also damage the airbag module, which could prevent proper deployment. Failure of the airbag to fully deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will inspect/replace the driver's frontal airbag inflator. Note: Honda Canada has created a special Airbag Inflator Hotline for immediate assistance. For more information, please contact: For Honda Owners: 1-877-445-7754 For Acura Owners: 1-877-445-9844
Recall 201001811,671 units in Canada
Other
On certain vehicles, a wiring harness connector for the heating, ventilation and air conditioning blower motor located under the passenger's side of the instrument panel may be subject to kicking by the front seat passenger's feet. If this occurs, the connector terminal may overheat, and this may cause the wire insulation to melt or the wiring connector to melt. A fire may occur if the wiring insulation melts and the exposed wires make contact with each other and create a short circuit. Correction: Dealers will replace damaged connectors and install a protective cover.

VEHICLE ONE TRAVELING AT HIGH RATE OF SPEED & WITHOUT BRAKING, CROSSED INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC STRUCK (OUR VEHICLE) HONDA TRUCK FROM DRIVER FRONT SIDE WITH PARTIAL FRONT IMPACT CAUSING HONDA TRUCK TO THEN CROSS SLOW LANE TRAFFIC AND COME TO REST IN FIELD OFF THE ROADWAY. THE DRIVER SUFFERED CUTS ON NECK AREA. I WAS SEATED IN THE PASSENGER FRONT AND SUFFERED THE WORSE INJURY WITH AN UNEXPLAINED STRAIGHT CUT SPLITTING MY HAND FROM TOP BETWEEN KNUCKLES ALL THE WAY TO MY MID PALM. THERE WERE NO EXPLANATIONS FOR THE STRAIGHT CUT. THERE WERE NO BROKEN WINDOWS ETC. OUR VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY TOTALED FROM IMPACT AND TO MY KNOWLEDGE ALL AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. BOTH THE EMERGENCY ROOM DOCTOR & ORTHOPEDIC AGREED EVEN IF THE AIRBAG HAD FORCED MY INDEX & MIDDLE FINGERS APART IT WOULD NOT BE A STRAIGHT LINE CUT BUT A RIPPED JAGGED SKIN TYPE WOUND. SO BOTH DOCTORS AGREED THERE WAS NO REASONABLE EXPLANATION FOR MY INJURY UNLESS MAYBE THE PLASTIC PIECE COVERING THE AIRBAG COULD HAVE SOMEHOW SLICED ME LIKE A KNIFE? PASSENGER IN THE DRIVER REAR SEAT SUFFERED CUTS ON FACE HAVING THE APPEARANCE OF MULTIPLE CAT SCRATCHES DEEP ENOUGH TO CAUSE BLEEDING. WE DO BELIEVE AFTER SEEING THE RECALL THE MEDAL SHAVINGS FROM AN AIRBAG DEFECT WOULD EXPLAIN MY INJURY. I ENDURED 16 STITCHES BETWEEN MY FIRST & SECOND FINGERS ON MY RIGHT HAND FROM ONE SIDE TO OTHER, WITH AN ADDITIONAL COUPLE OF SUTURES ON THE INDEX FINGER ITSELF FOR A SEPARATE CUT. I HAVE PICTURES OF OUR INJURIES & A FEW OF THE VEHICLE ITSELF IF THAT WOULD ASSIST YOU WITH FURTHER INVESTIGATION. *TR...UPDATED 12/10/15 *BF

During the conduct of the Fuel Tank corrosion recall, the dealer identified that the location on frame where the rear control arm attaches was completely corroded away and no longer supporting the control arm. They said this was a safety issue that can cause the rear wheel to collapse in. The dealer tried to get Honda of America to cover the repair as a part of the fuel tank recall but Honda of America refused. The dealer said the only way to fix it would be to attach a whole new truck bed as it's a unibody construction. There hasn't been a crash yet but there is a strong possibility of a crash due to the corrosion.

Hello, we are reporting an incident our 2007 Honda Risgeline. I am reporting this for my son who is the owner of the truck. He hit a pothole, after which a ticking noise started. When he got home, we inspected the vehicle and found that the gas tank straps ripped out of the frame, due to frame rust. The gas tank is laying in contact with the vehicle driveshaft. The ticking noise is due to the driveshaft balance weights contacting the gas tank and the shaft rotates. I am reporting so that you have accurate incident counts for your records. This would be part of the recently announced recall for this issue. The vehicle can not be driven in its current state.
