A spike years after the car went on sale usually means a part wearing
out on schedule across the whole fleet — the kind of pattern no single
owner can see from inside their own car.

Recalls on the 2010 Honda Ridgeline
A complaint is one owner's allegation. A recall is the point at which
the manufacturer or a regulator agreed the defect is real and dangerous
enough to fix for free — however old the car is.

STRUCTURE:FRAME AND MEMBERS
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2006-2014 Ridgeline vehicles that were sold, or ever registered in Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Washington D.C., and Wisconsin. An accumulation of road salt may cause the frame mounting surface, where the fuel tank mounting bands are attached, to corrode and possibly detach the fuel tank, which can result in a fuel leak.
Risk: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:ACCELERATOR PEDAL
Dorman Products, Inc. (Dorman) is recalling certain Accelerator Pedal Assemblies part numbers 699-114 and 825-5029-1, sold as replacement parts for 2003-2006 Acura MDX, 2004-2008 Acura TL and TSX, 2003-2007 Honda Accord, 2005-2006 Honda CR-V, 2007-2011 Honda Element, 2005-2008 Honda Pilot and 2006-2014 Honda Ridgeline vehicles. The rotating portion of the accelerator pedal assembly may bind. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 124, "Accelerator Control Systems."
Risk: If the accelerator pedal binds, the engine may not quickly return to idle after the pedal is no longer pressed, increasing the risk of a crash.

Canada — Transport Canada
Canada runs its own recall programme, and its campaigns do not
always mirror the American ones.
Recall 202232031,862 units in Canada
Structure
Issue: On certain vehicles, the rear frame could rust where the fuel tank and rear subframe are mounted. If this happens, the fuel tank and/or rear subframe mounts could separate from the frame. This can allow the fuel tank to fall and become damaged, which could cause a fuel leak. Safety Risk: A fuel leak can create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: Honda will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the rear frame for corrosion. Depending on the outcome of the inspection, the dealer will either apply corrosion protection and install a support brace, or repair the frame. Honda will offer to repurchase vehicles that do not pass the inspection.
Recall 2019323222,662 units in Canada
Airbag
Issue: On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, may eventually degrade the propellant contained in the airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. If the airbag inflator ruptures, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants or cause damage to the airbag assembly, preventing its proper function. Note: This is a new recall campaign that includes vehicles that had an airbag inflator replaced under a previous recall or had a replacement airbag installed. The previous recall provided an interim (short-term) repair. Interim repair parts must be replaced with the final repair parts provided in this recall. Safety Risk: If the vehicle is involved in a crash requiring an airbag deployment, the airbag inflator could rupture and create a risk of injury. Corrective Action: Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to replace the driver and/or passenger-front airbag inflator. Note: The Canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. This recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk. It is expected that all airbag inflators will be replaced before their function would be affected.
Recall 2018523263,289 units in Canada
Airbag
On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, could eventually degrade the propellant contained in the passenger frontal airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. As a result, if the vehicle were involved in a collision that warrants airbag deployment, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants, and the airbag assembly could be damaged, preventing proper function. These issues could increase the risk of injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the passenger frontal airbag inflator.
Recall 2016046269,201 units in Canada
Airbag
On certain vehicles, the driver frontal airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure during airbag deployment. Increased pressure may cause the inflator to rupture, which could allow fragments to be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury. This could also damage the airbag module, which could prevent proper deployment. Failure of the airbag to fully deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will inspect/replace the driver's frontal airbag inflator. Note: Honda Canada has created a special Airbag Inflator Hotline for immediate assistance. On Friday 2/18/2022 I was pulling into a parking space with my 2010 Honda Ridgeline. When applying the brake, the vehicle suddenly accelerated unintentionally and hit the car in the opposing parking space. I stood on the brake harder when I sensed the vehicle lurching forward. After I struck the opposing car, I confirmed that my foot was on the brake and not touching the accelerator. Also, oddly the vehicle immediately stopped running and I noticed the car was in Reverse. I took pictures and video immediately after the incident both inside the car and outside before I touched anything. I then put the car in Park, started the car, and backed it up. I inspected both cars for damage and did not find any damage. I left a note for the other car. The owner later called and confirmed she did not find any damage. One interesting thing that I noticed is that the parking space had a sewer drain in the front left corner that had a large slope and snow/ice surrounding it. The unintended acceleration occurred right when the front left tire hit that sloping ice patch.

I BACKED MY 2010 HONDA RIDGELINE OUT OF MY GARAGE. IT WAS A LITTLE TOO CLOSE TO MY BASKETBALL HOOP SO I PUT IT IN DRIVE TO PULL FORWARD. THE TRUCK TOOK OFF LIKE A JET AND ACCELERATED ABOUT 20 FEET FORWARD UNTIL IT CRASHED INTO MY GARAGE. I IMMEDIATELY LOOKED DOWN AND MY FOOT WAS FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE AND THE BRAKE WAS COMPLETELY PRESSED TO THE FLOOR. THE TRUCK ACCELERATED BY ITSELF. I AM THANKFUL NOBODY GOT HURT. IT DID A NUMBER ON THE RIDGELINE AND MY GARAGE. A SIMILAR INCIDENT HAPPENED ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO IN THE BEST BUY PARKING LOT. I PUT THE TRUCK IN REVERSE AND IT JUST TOOK OFF WITHOUT ME TOUCHING THE ACCELERATOR. LUCKILY THERE WAS NOBODY BEHIND ME AND THE BRAKE FINALLY TOOK HOLD. HONDA NEEDS TO FIX THIS BEFORE SOMEBODY GETS HURT OR KILLED.

I AM REPORTING UNWANTED, EXCESSIVE ACCELERATION FOR MY 2010 HONDA RIDGELINE. AFTER TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT, I WAS EASING INTO MY DESIRED PARKING SPACE AND, SINCE THERE WAS A SLIGHT INCLINE, I LIGHTLY PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR TO INCH FURTHER INTO THE SPACE. ALL OF A SUDDEN, TO MY SURPRISE AND WITHOUT AN OPPORTUNITY TO REACT, THE TRUCK ACCELERATED GREATLY, PROPELLING ITSELF OVER A 5 INCH CURB, PAST TWO FEET OF SPACE, AND THROUGH THE WALL OF A BUILDING. THE FORCE OF THE SUDDEN IMPACT WAS SO GREAT THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED, THE HOOD WAS BENT AND THE FRONT BUMPER WAS DAMAGED - ALSO PUNCHING A 3 FOOT WIDE HOLE INTO THE SIDE OF THE BUILDING, EXPOSING ITS INTERIOR.

TAKATA RECALL: I RECEIVED THE FIRST LETTER OF RECALL FROM AMERICAN HONDA ON MAR 29, 2016 FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER LETTER ON JULY 19, 2016. ENOUGH TO MENTION THAT I HAVE HARDLY DRIVEN MY TRUCK SINCE APR 1, 2016! THESE TWO LETTERS WERE FOLLOWED BY SEVERAL CALLS BY THE AMERICAN HONDA ON JUNE 30, JULY 07, JULY 18, JULY 29, & AUG 17; 2016 INFORMING ME THAT MY NEAREST HONDA DEALER WOULD CALL ME TO OFFER A RENTAL VEHICLE BEFORE BOTH -- DRIVER'S SIDE & PASSENGER SIDE -- AIRBAG INFLATORS ARE REPLACED. EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT THEY REPLACED MY DRIVER'S SIDE INFLATOR ON JULY 20, 2016, NOTHING HAS BEEN OFFERED TO ME SO FAR. IT WAS THE ONLY VEHICLE THAT I HAD UNTIL JULY 6TH, 2016 -- AFTER WHICH I HAD TO BUY A SMALL CAR ON MY OWN AS A REMEDY BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT TO TAKE THE RISK -- EXPLAINED TO ME BY THE AMERICAN HONDA ON THE ABOVE-LISTED DATES. THE QUESTION IS: IS IT WHAT THEY CALL 'THE TRICK OF THE TRADE' TO ABUSE THE CUSTOMERS IN THE NAME OF FULFILLING THEIR OBLIGATIONS? THE ONLY FAVOR THEY DID TO ME WAS THAT A GUY -- NAMELY, DONALD IN THE HONDA OF SPRING -- APOLOGIZED TO ME FOR NOT OFFERING ANY VEHICLE ON JULY 19, 2016. THAT'S ALL WHAT I HAVE HEARD FROM THEM. THIS IS WHILE I GENERALLY GO THERE EVERY MONTH FOR THE ELEMENTARY CHECKUPS SUCH AS OIL, AIR PRESSURE, ETC.. AND THEY KNOW ME QUITE WELL... SHAME ON THE CUSTODIANS OF THE RULE OF LAW!!!

TAKATA RECALL-I GOT THE FIRST RECALL FOR THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND MY VEHICLE STAYED AT THE DEALER FOR ABOUT 4 MONTHS. I JUST GOT THE VEHICLE OUT IN JULY-AS I GOT HOME THERE WAS ANOTHER RECALL FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE NOW-I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND I AM TOLD THAT HONDA WILL NOT PROVIDE ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE-ONLY ON AS NEEDED BASIS-CONTACTED GLORIA WITH AMERICAN HONDA-ONE OF THE MOST RUDE PERSONS EVER DEALT WITH-EXPLAINED TO HER THAT I CARPOOL AND TAKE GRANDKIDS TO THEIR SPORTING EVENTS-SHE SAID HAVE THEM ALL RIDE IN THE BACK AS THERE IS NOTHING THAT AMERICAN HONDA WILL DO--IF YOU HAVE THEM RIDE IN THE FRONT-THEY RIDE AT THEIR OWN RISK....BELIEVE ME IF I COULD SUE FOR JUST THAT-I WOULD. MY VEHICLE IS NOW ONLY GIVING ME ABOUT 10/11 MILES PER GALLON WHEN IT USED TO AVERAGE ABOUT 18/19--THE STEERING WHEEL CAME BACK ALL FULL OF SCRATCHES AND WITH TWO EXTRA SCREWS/NUTS BY DOOR FOR WHICH THERE IS NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHY-I AM NOW CONCERNED THAT THE FIRST RECALL REPAIRS WERE MAYBE NOT DONE PROPERLY--NOT SURE WHAT OTHER OPTIONS I HAVE AS A CONSUMER-AND HOW LONG I HAVE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL PARTS BECOME AVAILABLE.

TAKATA RECALL - MY 2010 RIDGELINE HAS BEEN SITTING AT A DEALER FOR THE LAST 8 WEEKS WAITING ON THE PARTS FOR THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG TO COME IN. ON TOP OF THAT, ANOTHER RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG! MY CONTACT AT THE DEALER HAS BEEN VERY NICE AND I DO HAVE A RENTAL VEHICLE. HOWEVER, IT IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS THAT THIS DEBACLE IS NOT BEING HANDLED IN A TIMELY MANNER.
