The rotating portion of the accelerator pedal assembly may bind. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 124, "Accelerator Control Systems."

Structure
Issue: On certain vehicles, the rear frame could rust where the fuel tank and rear subframe are mounted. If this happens, the fuel tank and/or rear subframe mounts could separate from the frame. This can allow the fuel tank to fall and become damaged, which could cause a fuel leak. Safety Risk: A fuel leak can create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: Honda will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the rear frame for corrosion. Depending on the outcome of the inspection, the dealer will either apply corrosion protection and install a support brace, or repair the frame. Honda will offer to repurchase vehicles that do not pass the inspection.

Airbag
Issue: On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, may eventually degrade the propellant contained in the airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. If the airbag inflator ruptures, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants or cause damage to the airbag assembly, preventing its proper function. Note: This is a new recall campaign that includes vehicles that had an airbag inflator replaced under a previous recall or had a replacement airbag installed. The previous recall provided an interim (short-term) repair. Interim repair parts must be replaced with the final repair parts provided in this recall. Safety Risk: If the vehicle is involved in a crash requiring an airbag deployment, the airbag inflator could rupture and create a risk of injury. Corrective Action: Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to replace the driver and/or passenger-front airbag inflator. Note: The Canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. This recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk. It is expected that all airbag inflators will be replaced before their function would be affected.

The contact owns a 2011 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated that while driving 40 MPH, there was a loud squealing sound coming from the rear end of the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact pulled over and upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact became aware that the rear crossmember had snapped, and inside the rear driver’s side wheel well was melted, and the sidewall of the tire was damaged. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the rear subframe was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. New strut assemblies (complete struts, assembled by manufacturer) were professionally installed on 01/03/2023. During a road test, clunking on the front right of the vehicle. The vehicle was returned to the shop to investigate the issue. The issue was determined to be the strut assembly was not assembled correctly by the manufacturer. The retaining nut that hold the assembly together, was not torqued to the proper value. This could result in loss of control of the vehicle.

I CONTACTED PERFECTION HONDA IN ALBUQUERQUE, 898-0000, IN EARLY JULY AFTER NO ONE CALLED ME AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO ORDER IT BUT WERE HAVING TROUBLE GETTING THEM. I HAVE CHECKED BACK EVERY MONTH SINCE THEN AND THE PART IS NOT AVAILABLE. I CONTACTED HONDA NORTH AMERICA 9/5/2016 AND THEY SAID THEY CANNOT HELP THAT MY ONLY OPTION IS TO WAIT UNTIL PERFECTION HONDA CALLED ME AFTER RECEIVING THE PART. SO IT IS NOW 5 MONTHS LATER AND I STILL HAVE A DEFECTIVE INFLATOR AND NO RESOLUTION IN SIGHT. THIS IS A GREAT SAFETY CONCERN AND NO ONE SEEMS TO BE WILLING TO OR ABLE TO HELP??!! IS THIS VEHICLE SAFE TO OPERATE ON THE ROADS? WHAT'S THE RISK? WHAT CAN YOU DO?

AUGUST 24, 2016 PHONE CONVERSATION WITH AMERICAN HONDA CASE NUMBER 04950465. 1.INFORMED ME THAT DEALERSHIPS ARE NORMALLY AUTHORIZED TO PROVIDE LOANER CARS FOR AIRBAG RECALLS 2.HOEHN HONDA WAS AWARE OF BOTH THE DRIVERS SIDE AS WELL AS THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS WERE RECALLED. 3.HOEHN HAD ORDERED BOTH AIRBAGS AND THEY CURRENTLY HAD THE PASSENGER AIRBAG EARMARKED FOR MY VEHICLE IN STOCK. 4.THIS WAS GOING TO BEFORWARDED TO AMERICAN HONDA MANAGEMENT FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION.
