I am reporting a serious safety failure in my 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee L (1,483 miles). On XXX, the vehicle was parked with my wife and young children inside. Upon starting it, the vehicle would not shift into gear, the steering wheel locked, and the front windows stopped working. The lane departure symbol lit up during the failure, and the vehicle would not shut off through normal controls. After two hours, we shut it off by disconnecting the battery. When restarted, the check engine light and other warning lamps came on, and the vehicle began shaking and rattling. No crash occurred, but with steering locked and children in the car, I had no way to safely disable the vehicle for two hours. This could have caused loss of control if it happened while driving. No prior warning signs occurred before the incident. The vehicle has not been inspected by a dealer or repair shop, as no certified Jeep dealership exists on Lanai, Hawaii, where I reside; shipping the vehicle requires barg transport to XX or XXX. In July 2025 with only 15,330 miles, I was driving my vehicle leaving a parking lot and I suddenly lost power steering assist in my vehicle. Power Steering light, check engine light, traction control light, and sensor light all illuminated, my odometer began flashing and a message on the screen stating " Service Electronic Stability Control". I safely pulled over and had my car towed to a dealership where they diagnosed an EPS C2 connector was corroded and did not have dielectric grease from the factory. The sensor was cleaned and greased and reinstalled, codes cleared and I thought my vehicle was repaired. In February 2026 with only 19,125 miles, as I was leaving for work, again my vehicle lost power steering assist. Again, Power steering light, traction control light, check engine light, sensor lights, auto stop light all illuminated, my odometer was again flashing and the message on the screen was " Service Electronic Stability Control." The vehicle was again towed into the dealership where they told me that they performed a power steering "flash" and that my check engine light was because of an engine oil pressure issue, they performed an oil change and cleared the computer. This is a serious safety concern that has resulted in towing the vehicle twice, and I received two different diagnosis. I do not feel safe in this vehicle and I do not want to be traveling with my child in this vehicle. I pay far too much money every month, on a brand new vehicle that we leased to be having these serious issues. Loss of power steering is not only a safety concern for myself, but others as well if I were to lose steering assist while driving. The problem has been identified at two different dealerships.

I am reporting a failure of the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) in my 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Overland. The failure is manifesting as an error message saying "service transmission" and the code that it is throwing says that the paddle shifters are overheating. This component is identical to the modules currently under Safety Recall 36B (NHTSA 24V-199) and Equipment Recall 15B (NHTSA 24E-025). The manufacturer has admitted that these modules possess an internal weld defect that prevents the driver’s side airbag from deploying in the event of a crash. Despite the clear safety risk and the fact that this model year/body style (WL) is the primary population for this defect, the manufacturer (Stellantis/Jeep) refuses to cover the repair, stating my specific VIN is not "flagged" in their internal database. I am concerned that the scope of the existing recalls is too narrow and that my vehicle is currently being operated with a non-functional or unreliable driver's airbag system due to this known hardware defect. I am requesting an investigation into why 2021 Grand Cherokee L models with these exact symptoms are being excluded from the safety remedy.

After the vehicle was parked on my driveway overnight, I started driving and i got this Steering warning lights Service power steering messages Multiple electronic systems glitching at the same time I had to stop in the middle of the street because the steering wheel was super hard. I was not able to turn any way. after a few minutes I turned off the vehicle and called the dealership to see if there was anything I could do. A temporary fix after restarting the car happened and I was able to take it nd have it looked at, but they wanted to charge me $250 to do an inspection.

Vehicle continuously has a problem with the alignment and tow link issues suspension problems that cause the vehicle to go out of alignment often. This is a continuing problem that has me going in for repairs more often than I should have to over the last 2 years. Many repairs for the same problem.

The vehicle is currently inoperable and has been in the shop over 60 days. Intermittent power loss resulting in losing some safety components while driving such as power steering, adaptive breaking etc On 7 different occasions it has left my family stranded and even once completely locked out with all car seats and identification inside. We were unable to open the vehicle and it had to be towed. Thankfully all children were out of their car seats and outside of the vehicle. Purchase date : Feb 2025 13,000 miles 7 instances and has been to a dealership each time and they cannot figure it out. I experienced electrical issues that resulted in loss of steering and difficulty turning my 2021 Jeep Cherokee Laredo. The steering became very hard to turn, and warning lights were present. This created a safety concern because the vehicle was difficult to control. I took the vehicle to an authorized Jeep dealership in Midwest City, Oklahoma. The dealership diagnosed the issue as a fuse array and attempted a repair. The vehicle remained at the dealership for approximately five days. After the repair attempt, I was informed that the fuse blew and that the vehicle now requires replacement of the power steering assembly. I was unable to afford the additional repair. The vehicle was returned to me with the original steering problem unresolved and remains difficult or unsafe to operate. I am reporting this because the vehicle experienced loss of steering, a serious safety issue, and was returned unrepaired after a failed diagnosis and repair attempt. I am concerned about a potential safety defect involving the steering and electrical system.

Started the vehicle and while pulling down the driveway the power steering suddenly went completely out. Warning lights began flashing and I was unable to steer vehicle. Stopped vehicle and turned off several times, however unable to overcome power steering loss, or reset warning lights. No other issues, considering the vehicle was just recently serviced for same complaint four weeks earlier and batteries replaced stemming from another recent issues with DTCS issues. Considering I was in a rural wooded area, I was forced to drive the vehicle home without power steering. I parked the vehicle waiting for appointment from dealer, and upon starting the vehicle, power steering returned, however a check engine fault light remained. The dealer found "many DTCS communication loss codes again", but stated nothing further they could do with the these factory defects at just 26,000 miles. I have all all documentation on these ongoing safety issues, with no help from Stellates.

Vehicle was being driven when the service power steering message came on, the steering wheel became very stiff and hard to maneuver. A list of messages also came up on the display, that other functions of the vehicle where either disabled and/or needed to be serviced. after the vehicle was parked it was no longer able to be moved due to the power steering being inoperable.

Within weeks of purchasing my brand-new 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee, this past Thursday when leaving for my workday the steering wheel on my vehicle became completely immovable when I attempted to leave. I started the vehicle and tried to turn the wheel, but it would not move at all. There were no warning lights or alerts. I had no ability to steer or maneuver the vehicle, and it was completely undriveable. The vehicle had to be towed from my workplace to the dealership because the steering would not turn. After diagnosis, the dealer informed me that the entire power steering rack had failed and required full replacement. A power steering rack is a critical safety component, and a failure of this magnitude on a brand-new, very low-mileage vehicle is extremely concerning. If this defect had occurred while driving, it could have led to a total loss of steering control and a serious crash. I no longer feel safe operating this vehicle. I am requesting that NHTSA record this incident as a safety-critical steering system failure and investigate whether similar power-steering or steering-rack failures may be occurring in other 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokees.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned? Electrical system: infotainment display module, BCM, passive entry antenna, ignition/start system, and electronic power steering. Vehicle available for inspection. How was safety put at risk? The vehicle locked my children inside and would not start, requiring assistance to open it. The power steering failed for several hours, leaving the car unsafe to drive. Ongoing electrical instability creates unpredictable loss of critical functions. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer? Some issues were confirmed by the dealer (screen blanking, key fob failure, antenna fault, software issues). Others, including the power steering failure and lock-in incident, were not reproduced but were documented and acknowledged. Has the vehicle or component been inspected? Yes. The Jeep dealership has inspected the vehicle multiple times, performed software updates, antenna replacement, PCM updates, and a steering update. They provided history and advised contacting Jeep Cares. Warning lamps, messages, or symptoms prior to failure? Yes. Screen blanking, random language/time changes, stop/start light not working, key fob failure, vehicle not starting, and power steering not activating. Issues began in 2023 and have recurred through early 2025.

Recurring sudden loss of power steering assistance combined with simultaneous disablement of Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Active Lane Management, and Blind Spot Monitoring. Malfunction of the Steering Column Control Module causing a disconnect with all associated components such as causing wipers to run continuously on max, and all listed functions stopped working including; SOS, Jeep Assist, blind spot, high & low beams, brake lights, turn signals, lane assist, horn, rear wiper, windshield washer fluid, airbag deployment, infotainment system, etc. Vehicle is currently at the Dealership in Delmont, PA and is available for inspection. This is a significant safety concern to myself and other drivers due a visibility issue with wipers on a continuous cycle, headlights and brake lights not functioning as intended, unable to use turn signals, airbags will not deployment in the event of an accident, among other safety related issues. The vehicle has been inspected for this specific issue at the Dealership December 21, 2023 and November 11-17, 2025, and was temporarily resolved with a software update. 24 hours later, on 11/18, the same issue reoccurred and is back at the Dealership with no update on a permanent solution. There are no warnings or symptoms prior to the failure of the SCCM. This issue first occurred 12/21/2023 with only 3,439 miles one it. The vehicle currently has 32,091 miles. The contact owned a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 23V413000 (SUSPENSION) and 24V132000 (SUSPENSION, STEERING). The contact's wife stated that while driving 35 MPH, the vehicle wobbled, and an abnormal sound was coming from underneath the vehicle. The contact's wife was able to pull to the side of the road. It is unknown if any warning lights were illuminated. After a visual inspection, the contact's wife became aware that the control arm had detached, and the coil spring was on the ground. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, where it was confirmed that the control arm and coil spring had detached from the vehicle. However, the dealer refused to perform the recall repairs, stating that since the contact's wife had struck an unknown object on the road, the recalls were voided. The contact stated that his wife had not struck an object while driving. The vehicle was taken to Jim Glover Dodge Chrysler, who refused to perform the recall repairs, that the vehicle had collided with an unknown object on the road and voided the recall repairs. The insurance company was notified and towed the vehicle to an auto body shop. The vehicle remained at the body shop unrepaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 72,000.

The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle three times and after the third time, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with steering failure, and that the steering rack needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. Upon investigation, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V352000 (STEERING); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 35,168.

The contact owns a 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the buttons on the steering wheel failed to operate as intended. The contact stated that while at a gas station, attempting to start the vehicle and depressing the brake pedal, the ABS failure warning light illuminated. The contact stated that a dealer was contacted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the ABS needed to be replaced. The ABS was replaced, and instrument panel was replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that there would be a follow-up regarding the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000.
