Rear passenger side coil spring fell out. Vehicle was previously inspected and deemed not affected by the known coil spring recall by a CDJR service department. More recently deemed not included in the investigation looking into later ongoing issues. Currently the vehicle is in the possession of this service department awaiting parts and the Dealership is correcting or repairing via an extended warranty, also I will be paying my deductible with the warranty to complete the work.

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked in the driveway, there was an abnormally loud metallic sound coming from the vehicle. Upon inspection, the contact discovered a spring sticking out of the middle of the rear end of the vehicle. The contact stated that there was a QR code attached to the coil spring with the part information. Upon further investigation, the contact discovered that the vehicle was serviced previously for the failure under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V413000 (Suspension). The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, and the contact was informed that the vehicle would be covered under NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V051000 (Suspension); however, the contact later received a call that the vehicle was not covered under the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained with the dealer. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. While the contact’s husband was driving 70 MPH, there was an abnormally loud sound coming from the rear of the vehicle, and an unknown metal object detached and flew off the vehicle into the traffic behind the vehicle. The vehicle was pulled over and inspected, but there were no signs of the failure. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the suspension coil had dislodged and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 33,000.

The coil spring on the rear passenger side has become detached from my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Limited. I was unaware that it had happened when I started to drive and could hear something kind of bouncing around. When I got out of the vehicle to see what was going on, I could see that the rear of the car seemed unusually low. That is when I looked under and saw the spring dangling next to the tire. It could've caused a bad accident if it had gotten caught up in the tire or if it had completely detached and either hit another car or caused another car to hit it. The vehicle had a recall for this in 2023, before I owned it, and the status says "inspected" but not repaired. There was another recall early in 2026 for this same issue, but at this time, my vehicle is not part of that recall. However, it should be as this is a dangerous, scary issue that isn't immediately evident. I'm just grateful that I was in my neighborhood when it happened and not driving on the interstate at a high rate of speed, as there was nothing to indicate that it was imminently happening. It hasn't been inspected yet as it just happened but I will have it towed tomorrow to get inspected and repaired. It is underivable in its current condition.

The rear right coil spring and is available for inspection upon request. Spring failed while car was parked in driveway on flat ground, the car was driven with me and my 1 year old at highway speeds of 75mph. No warnings were displayed on dashboard. Never received an update of a recall and will not pull up when VIN is searched. Upon VIN search on MOPAR website original recall repair was done in 2023 which has failed. We did not know of this spring failure until arriving home and seeing it lie where I was parked. Earlier in the day a loud metal noise was heard but figured it came from passing traffic on highway. No one has inspected the vehicle yet, working on trying to get it towed since it is no longer safe to drive. Vehicles rear right tire is now pitched in at top towards rear wheel well. No warning or message was alerted to me.

I am reporting that the vehicle is having a constant knocking sound and weird rocking driving problem when in motion leading to pulling to one side and uneven balancing even with perfect alignment and no alignment issues. Vehicle has been serviced at the dealership without any remedy to the problem and was informed that other vehicles for the same model type Jeep 2021 Grand Cherokee L. Control Arms and other components were replaced and the problem was not resolved

Rear passenger coil spring popped out and became lodged in the tire while driving. We were driving on the Whitestone expressway and the car came to a resisted halt. This could have caused severe injury if I had not been in the lane and came to a slowdown to allow a car to merge in front of me. The highway traffic patrol man dislodged the fully intact coil from between the tire and tire well. There were no warning lamps, indicators, signs or symptoms. Initially I thought the tire popped which was strange as there was no pot holes or obstructions in the road.

My 2023 Jeep has had 2 recalls for rear suspension coil popping out while driving was inspected per manufacturer guidelines on 11/20/2025, approximately 7 months on 6/5/2026, after they “repaired” second recall for rear coil spring, the coil spring popped out when I was driving down the road. Took car to the dealership the vehicle has approximately 37,000 miles manufacturer claims since it was covered under the recall and “fixed” that I would have to pay 40% of the cost while they pay 60%. Manufacturer refuses to pay for repairs when this has been an ongoing issue. No warning lights came on the dash when this occurred. Made multiple attempts to contact manufacturer and was told that I would have to write a letter to the corporate office with my issue. The vehicle is still at the dealership awaiting repairs for this issue and currently has an active recall listed for the airbags.

I picked up my wife from the airport and I’m on 76 going home. As I am driving about to switch lanes I hear a pop, so I am thinking that I got a flat tire. As I pull over I check all my tires nothing is flat. I look under my car and I see that my rear suspension spring on the right side of my tire is hanging down. A trailer hitch was contracted as part of the vehicle purchase on December 20, 2025, and was physically installed by Southern Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in January 2026 as a fulfillment of that purchase contract. This installation was performed by Stellantis's own authorized dealer technicians. The vehicle has been configured and warranted for towing use since January 2026 — an explicitly marketed capability of this vehicle platform. A trip was scheduled for May 18, 2026 to tow a 12-foot rigid inflatable boat (yacht tender) weighing approximately 600 pounds on a trailer from XXX to Fawcett Boat Services in XXX — a route of approximately 150 miles traversing [XXX] in heavy traffic at approximately 70 mph. The appointment at Fawcett Boat Services is verifiable. The boat's location in [XXX] is documentable. The air suspension failure occurred on May 17, 2026 — one day before this towing trip. The trip was canceled as a direct result. Had the failure occurred on May 18, 2026 during transit on Interstate 95: —The spontaneous asymmetric rear suspension collapse — right rear corner dropping without warning at 70 mph — would have subjected the hitch coupling to vertical and lateral forces outside its design tolerance —Trailer instability, jackknifing, or physical decoupling of a 600-pound loaded trailer at 70 mph in heavy interstate traffic is mechanically foreseeable —A decoupled trailer carrying a rigid boat structure at 70 mph in heavy traffic is a lethal projectile — the foreseeable consequences include multiple vehicle collisions and loss of life Stellantis marketed this vehicle as towing-capable.
