I was driving my vehicle on a California freeway and it stopped at traffic signal that was red. When the light turned green and my vehicle accelerated forward the vehicle system powered down in the middle of traffic. I had the vehicle towed to a local mechanic who identified two potential causes for my vehicle powering down and one of the items referenced was the recalled dc converter. I had the vehicle towed to my local Land Rover dealership and they confirmed that a faulty dc converter was the cause. Land Rover is asking for me to purchase a new dc converter at a cost of $3,000 that is currently under recall and they are unwilling to wave the cost of the repair leaving the vehicle inoperable. I asked the Land Rover dealership to give me a quote to purchase the inoperable vehicle from me and the offered a wholesale price acknowledging that they are unwilling to pay market value because of the recall with no remedy but when a remedy is found they might be willing to purchase at current market value. I suspect the dealerships motive is to purchase my car at a wholesale price, replace the recalled part with another recalled part and sell at a outsized profit will leaving me underwater with a lender.

2012 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Wallington, NJ

Vehicle experienced a complete electrical failure while driving. The vehicle is a 2012 Range Rover Sport. At approximately 25 mph, the engine shut off, all exterior and interior lights went out, and the steering wheel locked in the straight‑ahead position. I temporarily lost control of the vehicle and was only able to stop safely because I was traveling at low speed. This incident created an immediate crash risk. An independent mechanic inspected the vehicle but could not identify the cause, noting vehicle in Fail Safe - scan showed multiple lost communication codes. See the full report attached for more details. This appears to be a serious safety defect consistent with known electrical shutdown and steering lock issues reported in similar Land Rover models. I am filing this report to document the safety hazard and request investigation.

2024 Land Rover Range Rover Sport La Selva Beach, CA

It’s been close to 60 days since I was notified of a major safety issue recall that they do not have a repair for. I am terrified to drive my car on certain roads and therefore trapped so to speak in my town. How much time do they have to figure out the fix? They are not offering loaner cars or rentals, which is unacceptable.

2019 Land Rover Range Rover Sport at 88,000 miles Wayne, NJ

The contact owns a 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 MPH, there was a message of a "Module Failure" displayed, and the master warning light was illuminated before the vehicle stalled. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to the residence and then to a dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the DC converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the check engine warning light illuminated approximately 20 minutes after restarting the vehicle. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the battery control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact believed that the failure was associated with damages from the original failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a complaint was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000.

2024 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Chicago, IL

I am filing this complaint to formally report two separate incidents of DCDC converter failure in my Land Rover Range Rover Sport — the identical defect described in NHTSA Safety Recall 26V248 — and to request that NHTSA investigate why my vehicle has been excluded from that recall despite exhibiting the same failure mode. INCIDENT 1 – [XXX] While driving, my vehicle displayed a red “Stop Safely Electrical Fault Detected” warning message and subsequently lost motive power, coasting to a stop in Bellevue, WA. I was unable to safely move the vehicle out of active traffic. I called 911 and emergency responders were dispatched to block the lane behind my vehicle to prevent a collision. The vehicle was towed to Jaguar Land Rover Bellevue, an authorized Land Rover dealership, where the DCDC converter was diagnosed as the cause of failure. Repair documentation is on file. INCIDENT 2 – [XXX] The same failure recurred. My vehicle again displayed the “Stop Safely Electrical Fault Detected” warning and lost motive power while in motion in Chicago, IL. The vehicle was towed a second time to Jaguar Land Rover Chicago, where the same DCDC converter defect was documented and addressed. Repair documentation is on file. In both incidents, my vehicle came to a stop in an active traffic lane with no ability to self-recover, creating a direct risk of a rear-end collision that could have seriously injured or killed me, my family, and other road users. When I check my VIN against the recall, my vehicle does not appear as an included unit. I have received no owner notification letter from JLR despite the recall report stating owner notifications were planned for on or before June 12, 2026. I am requesting that NHTSA determine whether my vehicle meets that criteria and was incorrectly excluded, or whether the recall population should be expanded. 2024 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Valley Center, CA

I bought this car in 2024 and after 3,000 miles it was unrepairable. The first incident, I was driving and the car started flashing and beeping, telling me to pull over and exit the vehicle immediately. I brought it to the dealership and after a few days they returned it and said it was a software update. The next day, while driving to work, the vehicle again started flashing lights and beeping and told me to Pull Over and Exit the Vehicle immediately. The vehicle continued to flash and beep until I could pull over and stop, which unfortunately I was on the freeway, in between barriers and had to drive 17 more miles with it in panic mode. Almost 4 months later, I got the vehicle back and again, after driving a short time, I experienced a TOTAL electrical failure. The brakes, power steering, hill descent, etc ALL stopped working! After being in the shop a little over a month, again, I was told it was a software update and sent on my way. That night, while driving home, the Auto Brake Hold ENGAGED while I was driving and my vehicle jerked back and forth continually. Again it went to the dealership, and again I was told it was due to a software update and that is now how Land Rover had programmed it and I just was not used to it. When I tried to explain how I could not drive because of the continuous jerking, I was told there was nothing they can do.

2016 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Middletown, DE

Rear surround camera has blurry and hazy image upon activation of reverse gear. There is noticeable water ingress in camera lens. Vehicle had issue addressed in 2022 by replacement with part LR060915. Blurry/hazy issue was observed intermittently and now camera is inoperable with visible water in camera housing. I believe this is an extension of National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reference number: 24V-023. Manufacturer does not want to assist with the recall on MY18-22 as my VIN is not included even though the issue is one and the same.

2021 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Concord, NC

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Component/System: 48V Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) system including the DC/DC Converter (subject of active recall D126), Battery Energy Control Module (BECM), Telematics Control Unit (TCU), Battery Charge Control Module (BCCM), and Vehicle Immobilizer Module (VIM). All components are available for inspection upon request. What happened: My 2021 Range Rover Sport HSE MHEV (VIN: [XXX] ) experienced a complete no-start condition after sitting for approximately one week. Prior to towing the vehicle to Hendrick Jaguar Land Rover Charlotte, I performed a live data diagnostic using a Land Rover specific iCarsoft LR V3 diagnostic tool which confirmed the 48V hybrid battery at 17.86% state of charge critically below the minimum threshold required to authorize a start sequence. The TCU, BCCM, and VIM all showed not fitted simultaneously a known cascade effect of a critically depleted 48V MHEV system. Recall D126 for DC/DC Converter failure was confirmed on my vehicle. The DC/DC converter manages power transfer between the 48V and 12V systems. Its failure directly caused the 48V battery depletion and subsequent cascade module failures. Safety risk: The vehicle became completely immobile with no warning. The immobilizer went offline preventing the vehicle from starting, stranding the occupant in a parking lot. A vehicle that shuts down without warning and cannot be restarted poses a serious safety risk to the driver and other road users. Additionally the DC/DC converter failure affecting the MHEV system represents a risk of sudden loss of hybrid assist during driving. 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Baton Rouge, LA

Vehicle: 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Sport HSE While driving approximately 65-70 mph, a red battery/charging warning appeared instructing me to pull over immediately. Within approximately 3-5 minutes, the vehicle rapidly lost electrical power and became completely disabled while driving. EVERYTHING in my car started shutting down; no air, no lights, no steering. Steering and vehicle functions became inoperable and the vehicle required towing. The repair facility diagnosed a charging-system malfunction. Diagnostic notes stated the alternator was only producing approximately 11.2 volts and was not charging the battery. The repair facility also documented that the alternator was saturated in engine oil due to leaking valve covers and oil filter housing components. Repairs included replacement of the alternator, valve covers, oil filter housing, gaskets, coolant-related components, and associated labor under Land Rover repair procedures. I am submitting this complaint because the sudden loss of electrical power while driving at highway speed created a serious safety concern. The only thing that saved me for an accident is the high speed I was traveling coasted my car to the exit as an 18-wheeler truck was on the side and behind me.

2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Booneville, AR

The DC/DC converter went out. While driving [XXX], all the warning lights came on, no abs, no front collision warning and all other safety warnings lights flashed. Immediately after the lights came on vehicle completely shut down while driving leaving me stranded in the street in Greenwood, AR. I had my vehicle towed to the dealership. Land Rover was already aware of the DC/DC converter issue but told me it was the battery which I paid to have replaced. I drove my vehicle home from the dealership. After arriving home my vehicle would not lock. I contacted the dealership and was advised to bring it back in when they had an appt in 3 weeks. I could not drive my vehicle due to not being able to lock it. While driving the vehicle to the dealership to get repaired because it would not lock, my vehicle shut down this time leaving me stuck in a blind spot on a rural highway (55mph speed limit) with no where to pull over due to deep drainage ditches on the shoulder. For two hours I had to wave at vehicles letting them know there was a dangerous hazard in the road (my vehicle) while waiting for the tow truck. My vehicle was again towed to the dealership, 126 miles away. It was at this time I was advised by the service advisor later confirmed by the General Manager, Land Rover had an ongoing problem with the DC/DC converters. My vehicle has been at the dealership since February 9, 2025 because they do not have the DC/DC converter available. The dealership does not provide loaner vehicles. I have since researched the internet and found numerous articles and other complaints regarding the DC/DC converters going out in Land Rover vehicles. 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport 22191, VA

The Keyless Vehicle Module security system on my 2023 Range Rover Sport deactivated both of my smart keys simultaneously without any warning or alert. The vehicle locked itself while both keys were inside and completely disabled them both at the same time, leaving my vehicle totally inoperable. I had no way to start or operate my vehicle. There was no warning light, no alert on the dashboard before this happened, and no information provided at purchase that this could ever occur. The only message displayed on the dashboard after the fact was Refer to Handbook Smart Key Deactivated. I am a single father with dependents and this is my only vehicle. I was left completely stranded at my home with no transportation for multiple days. This is a known and documented design defect affecting all Jaguar Land Rover vehicles manufactured from 2022 onwards. The vehicle has been inspected by Land Rover Alexandria dealer located at [XXX] . The dealer confirmed the issue and quoted me $3,000 to replace the Keyless Vehicle Module hardware. After I filed a BBB complaint and contacted Land Rover corporate the price was reduced to $640. My vehicle is a 2023 model and is still under full factory warranty. Land Rover corporate has an open case on this matter under case number XXX No other vehicle manufacturer allows their own security system to completely strand the owner with no warning and no safeguard. 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Durango, CO

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Vehicle experienced sudden and complete shutdown while driving immediately after crossing railroad tracks. Dashboard warning displayed “battery failure.” Vehicle would not restart and would not shift into neutral, leaving it immobilized in traffic. Police department called and traffic was managed by 2 police officers. Vehicle was stuck on roadway and required manual override procedure (unknown to owner) to shift into neutral before being pushed off roadway. Vehicle was towed 250 miles. Dealership has indicated hybrid battery/system failure and ordered replacement battery. Concern: Sudden total loss of propulsion and inability to shift into neutral creates serious roadway safety hazard. If this had occurred seconds earlier, vehicle could have been immobilized directly on railroad tracks. Request investigation into hybrid battery/system failures causing sudden total shutdown without safe-mode capability.

2021 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Calhoun, LA

Vehicle was operating normally on interstate traffic at 70mph when vehicle suddenly flashed "Charging system fault" and the vehicle then would not accelerate and dropped to 25 mph. Trying to exit the interstate and vehicle went into limp mode and battery icon showed up. Had to be towed to Range Rover dealership Range Rover said the issue was a DC / DC converter. They replaced this and are now saying the BISG alternator is at fault. Repairs will be close to 8k without a confirmation this will be the fix. Not comfortable driving the vehicle even with the 'fix." A vehicle "Dying" on the interstate at interstate speeds is dangerous. The problem is known on the internet and by range rover. Not sure if component has been inspected. 2021 Range Rover Sport 53k miles
