I own a 2022 Ram 1500 Bighorn with approximately 84,000 miles. This vehicle has repeatedly experienced a severe safety defect that began around 20,000 miles. On four separate occasions, the truck has suddenly decelerated in traffic without warning, would not shift out of gear, and in some cases would not shut off even when pressing the start/stop button. During the most recent incident, I was unable to pull over safely because the powertrain locked up, putting myself and surrounding drivers at extreme risk. My wife and I as well as a good Samaritan stranger almost got ran over while checking to see what's wrong. Police showed up and called for a tow truck, since the incident was happening in a state hwy. Each time I brought the truck to the dealership, I showed photos and videos of the issue, but the dealership claimed they could not reproduce it. Now the dealership is telling me I must pay $1,127 just for them to look inside the transmission, and potentially $2,800–$11,000 for repairs. This is a safety-critical defect that began well within the warranty period and has progressively worsened. A sudden loss of power and inability to control the vehicle is dangerous and could result in a crash, injury, or death. I believe this issue should be investigated for a recall or manufacturer responsibility due to multiple reports of similar failures in Ram 1500 models. I have videos of the incidents in 2025 at 80k miles, and a video in 2024 at 43k miles that show the live incidents.

I would prefer that the vehicle be bought by RAM due to the unsafe issues ie . (the vehicle stopped at a all of the sudden while driving ,the emergency brake activated while driving, the transmission gave out and would not accelerate while driving on the highway, my wife and I could have been killed.

While driving at low speeds in downtown traffic with the automatic stop/start system active, I stopped at a red light. The system engaged and shut off the engine as expected. However, when I attempted to accelerate, the truck stalled. The gear shift unexpectedly moved from Drive to Park, and the parking brake activated. I applied the brake and restarted the engine, but had to manually disengage the parking brake before continuing. At the next red light, the stop/start system again shut off the engine. Upon attempting to drive, the truck stalled a second time. I restarted the engine, but this time the auto stop alert and battery warning lights illuminated. The truck moved forward very slowly, appeared to struggle shifting into gear, and then suddenly lurched forward. I had to quickly apply the brakes to regain control. The vehicle is currently at the dealership undergoing inspection for a faulty tire pressure sensor and this auto stop system problem. This is the third time the truck has experienced the auto stop issue in the past two years. The problem has not been able to be replicated at the dealership and no repairs have been made.

On September 11, I remember because of the date, I was coming up to traffic on Flamingo heading east to Nellis Rd. As I started to brake the truck suddenly accelerated rapidly. I slammed on the brakes and barely stopped in time to not rear end the car ahead of me. I put it into park, then put it into drive and I made it home. This happened again yesterday October 6 as I came through the Carls drive through. Had to slam on my brakes again to stop.

>> RAM eTorque 5.7L V8 motor stopped and emergency brake activated without warning. >> I was driving on [XXX] (*5 lanes of traffic*) in Phoenix AZ just after rush hour. The sudden deceleration of the vehicle put my wife, son, and me at extreme risk of being struck from behind by one or more vehicles traveling in excess of 65 miles per hour. >> There are multiple reports of this failure in this model of RAM truck/engine dating back to 2021. >> NHTSA opened PE24-018 to collect and analyze detailed information regarding possible causes for this issue (ref. attached letter from NHTSA in September 2024). >> There were no warning or error indicators visible on the driver dashboard/console displays. The truck repeatedly while turning a corner. Will stall and engage the barking brake. The engine will not always start up immediately following the stall. If the engine does start, you can disengage the parking brake and continue on. However, the battery light will come on as well as an engine light. If you do not pull over and completely shut the vehicle down. While, the battery light is on. Then eventually, what will happen Is it will drain the battery And the truck will just stall and not run at all. The vehicle has been in to the dealership. Multiple times they are unable to recreate the issue. I have brought the vehicle in muliple times. With out and With all of the lights on and we have proven that once you shut down the truck down and restart it, all codes will delete themselves from the memory. The scariest episode, where the truck stalled, was where I was turning left off a major highway and the vehicle stalled across 2 lanes of traffic and would not start. I know that this is an ongoing issue west. D type of engine that I have, and it happens to these truck years 2019-2022. If you call FCA Canada, they will say they're not aware. However, I've been dealing with this problem since I purchased the truck. The first stall happened two weeks after I bought it. There is also a section on the Dodge forum. For this exact issue and multiple complaints in the better business bureau for this issue.

I was making a left turn and the vehicle abruptly stopped blocking both lanes of an arterial highway. The emergency brake came on . The vehicle would not shift into neutral so I couldn’t move it off the road. The vehicle was towed in. Had this happened on the expressway or at higher speed both my family and I could have been badly hurt.

While towing, the cluster presented "Service Electronic Throttle" warning, lost the ability to accelerate (limp mode), and also lost electronic skid control. Code P00AF was stored. The turbocharger is now being replaced. This is a serious safety issue that is being reported by hundreds of owners of FCA products with this engine across their brands. The same repair is being applied regardless if it is Ram or Jeep, replacing the turbocharger. There is clearly a safety issue and it seems that nobody is doing anything about this widespread safety issue. It is far from isolated and someone will inevitably become seriously injured as a result of this no known flaw if it remains unaddressed by the NHTSA and FCA.

1. Engine stalled and complete loss of power at low speed/during acceleration at a stop sign, traffic signal, crossing, etc. 2. Engine stalled and complete loss of power at low speed (under 35 mph) during acceleration and/or deceleration. 3. I've noticed over the last several incidents that upon initial startup the engine did not feel or sound normal to the point I have been able to anticipate a stall. Engine will not idle properly, rough/jerky takeoff, delayed response when accelerating. Stalling only occurs once per driving episode. It has not stalled a second time following the initial stall. It appears the issue resets the engine?, electronics?, computer board?. 4. Incidents are very stressful. The number of times the stalling incident has taken place is between 15-20 times. I purchased the vehicle new with 35 miles. As of 7/2/24 I have 39,400 miles. The issue began about a year ago with approximate mileage of 26,000

I was in the service lane waiting for an oil change for my 2022 RAM 1500. My car was in parking mode. A service tech plugged a "pod" or "OBD2" and asked me to drive the car with the pod plugged. As soon as I tried to pull out my lane the car acceleraterated even though I was not pressing on the gas pedal. I tried to hit the brake but car would not stop for few seconds until I hit the parked car in front of me.

Driving on wet road, braking system acting strange. Slowed down, dashboard lit up, tried to get off freeway and ended up spinning into wall. Drove home 30 miles on back roads, then slowed down at intersection, dashboard lit up again, parking brake engaged, vehicle locked up, dash kept flashing, could not start vehicle or put in neutral. Dealer states there were multiple failed brake system alerts and had to reset module. Had to tow. Filed a case with FCA in June, have not had a call from case worker, been without a vehicle for almost 3 months because FCA has stated this vehicle may not be safe to drive and that I should not start collision work yet.

Driving vehicle at approximately 15 MPH when vehicle accelerated on its own and would not stop by depressing foot brake. Had to put vehicle into neutral and use emergency brake to stop. At the same time several dash warning lights illuminated. Such included but was not limited to, throttle control, trailer tow assist, check engine, brake assist control, etc. The vehicle was parked and unmoved until it was towed to dealership. Upon towing the check engine and throttle control lights remained illuminated. Per dealership, no light is illuminated and no issue with vehicle. Located a number of additional similar issues with Ram’s online with no recall.

I was at a complete stop awaiting a draw bridge to lower. I put my vehicle in park. When the cars In front of me started to move I put my foot on the brake and turned the knob to drive. My vehicle immediately accelerated out of control. I immediately pressed both feet on the brake as hard as I could and the vehicle kept moving. I hit a guy on a motorcycle and swerved left as hard as I could. I traveled another 150-200 feet and was quickly approaching a gate at a local factory when my vehicle stopped three feet in front of the gate. I thought I killed the guy on the motorcycle- luckily he was ok. The witness behind me described the incident exactly as I did too. I contacted Daimler Chrysler and opened up a case with them. Seems like the gas pedal was pressing itself and I could over power it.
