I purchased my 2022 Ram 1500 5.7L new. Since purchasing the vehicle, it has experienced multiple electrical system failures that occurred without warning. The infotainment screen stopped functioning, which also caused the backup camera to become inoperative. In addition, the horn no longer works, the air conditioning has failed, and the power windows will not operate. These failures appear to be related to the vehicle's electrical system and have significantly affected both the safety and usability of the truck. The loss of the backup camera reduces visibility while reversing, increasing the risk of a crash. The horn is an essential safety feature used to warn other drivers and pedestrians of potential hazards, and its failure creates an additional safety risk. The vehicle was purchased new and has experienced multiple critical electrical failures affecting several systems. I am submitting this complaint so the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) can investigate whether these electrical failures represent a safety-related defect affecting other 2022 Ram 1500 vehicles.

"I am filing a formal safety complaint regarding a recurring, dangerous safety violation in my 2022 Ram truck. The entire Uconnect infotainment screen completely blacks out, freezes, and enters an unexpected reboot cycle while the vehicle is in operation. This total system failure causes an intermittent, complete loss of the rearview backup camera, creating an immediate crash hazard and placing the vehicle in direct non-compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 111 (FMVSS 111). Furthermore, when the system crashes, it completely disables all cabin environment controls—preventing the use of the windshield defroster—and creates a severe, unpredictable distraction while driving in traffic until the system finishes recycling."

I purchased my Ram 1500 5.7 2022 new last year. The vehicle has experienced multiple electrical failures. The infotainment screen stopped working, causing the backup camera to become inoperative. The horn no longer functions, the air conditioning stopped working, and the power windows will not roll down. These failures occurred without warning. The loss of the backup camera and horn creates a significant safety concern because they are important safety features. My car just stopped and turned off. On the screen it says service electronic stability control. And power steering unavailable and service immediately. I serviced the car on April 24th. I received the car April 29th and they said they had to flash the computers and it would take 1.5 hours. I paid 330 dollars. I drove the car off and 15-20 min later the car cut off. I called the dealership and told them and they said they have to get the car back in the shop. I have additional documents.

I was driving my Ram 1500 5.7L eTorque this morning (2022, ~36k miles). About 10 minutes in, I was stopped at a light and the truck shut down completely (engine, electric, etc.) There was no prior notice, nor was it having problems. When I tried to go as the light turned green, obviously the truck did not go. I noticed several panel lights come on, including the battery light. There was also a message that said something to the extent that the emergency brake had automatically engaged and needed to be released. After a minute, I was able to re-start the car and drive home. Cars behind me honked, and eventually went around me. I have an appointment to take the truck in, but no diagnosis as of now. I did research and read that this a known problem with the 5.7L eTorque, and that some trucks have been recalled (NHTSA Recall 23V-235) for similar issues, and there is also on ongoing investigation for others that were not part of the recall. My experience is similar to everything I've seen/read reported by other drivers (e.g., seemingly random stall with no prior warning, certain dash lights coming on, auto-engagement of the parking break).

While driving at low speeds twice now my ram 1500 has stalled and engaged the parking break. Once coming to a stop and another time making a turn onto a road. Once I turn the truck back on there is a battery light on the dash and I’m allowed to drive to a safe place and restart the truck and the battery light goes away. Very concerned for my safety due to living next to a busy road.

Vehicle deployed EBS system while coming to stop, automatically shifted to park and the engine shut off. When trying to restart the vehicle, the battery indicated a very low charge (11.1V) and not charging from the alternator. The battery is 3 months old and confirmed that the battery cells were good by an automotive shop. Has happened approximately 8 times in the past year. No codes or check engine lights are displayed.

my abs and traction control light is on, took it in and got the recall done at slimans in amhust ohio, light is still on. they want $300 to test it further. i have seen several posts about the control module failing. i took it in to another garage, they replaced the rear sensor. still didnt fix the problem. i dont have $800 to replace the control modular just to see if it fixes the problem. there needs to be another recall to fix this issue. i can evan use my 4 wheel drive right now.

While driving the steering randomly gets stiff when turning to the left. This seems to only happen while on the highway. After googling issues with this model vehicle, I found that the electronic power steering system could be the culprit. I am not sure but it makes sense. My 2022 Ram 1500 TRX has recurring safety-related failures of the infotainment system affecting both Uconnect 5 (12” screen) and earlier Uconnect 4 units. These issues are widespread in 2021–2024 Ram TRX and Ram 1500 models and began or worsened after forced over-the-air updates. The primary defect is black-screen failures while driving. When the screen goes black or freezes, the truck loses all functions controlled through the display, including HVAC/defrost, backup camera, vehicle settings, seat controls, and performance gauges. This creates an immediate safety hazard: I cannot adjust climate/defrost, cannot see the required rear-view camera when shifting to reverse, and cannot access key vehicle information. Owners across multiple years consistently report: • Black screens, freezes, and reboots • Loss of HVAC control and dual-zone functions • Backup camera not displaying • Vehicle/Apps tabs failing to open • Uconnect error messages • Smaller, harder-to-read gauges after updates • Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto failures • No option to decline or roll back OTA updates These failures distract the driver, remove access to federally required equipment (rear camera), and eliminate visibility and climate controls that directly affect safe operation. The system becomes unpredictable and unstable despite the vehicle being in motion. My vehicle experiences the same issues, including black screen while driving, loss of HVAC, camera not available, system rebooting, etc. Because this affects essential safety-related controls and visibility, I believe this is a safety defect in Ram/Stellantis Uconnect 4 and Uconnect 5 systems. I request NHTSA open a defect investigation and require Ram to correct these failures.

I request NHTSA open a defect investigation and require Ram to correct these failures.

i was driving my truck in a parking lot going roughly 10MPH when the truck slammed on the Emergency brakes. the check Engine light started flashing as well as truck going into power save mode. I've had the truck checked and looked at at a ram dealer in Barstow CA for the same issue. they said they fixed it. how ever the same issue just happened again i filed a complaint that time as i was almost rear ended reference number 11688552 on 19 September 2025

I was stopped at a light and my dash light started beeping and flashing at random and the truck just shut off. My parking break got randomly engaged and the truck went back to P mode even though it was in drive prior. I turned the truck back on and the break wouldn’t release and I couldn’t turn the knob to drive. Had to turn it off again and after about 2 minute it left me drive again. Second time and I just bought this truck.

The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while reversing, the rearview camera image was blue, and the message "Camera Unavailable" was displayed. The contact stated while driving 25 MPH, the vehicle made abnormal knocking sounds and stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was restarted; however, the failure persisted. The contact was able to pull into a gas station and parked the vehicle. A mechanic informed the contact that the sound was coming from the engine; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.

The first issue appeared when I came to a stop at a light. The auto start/stop feature malfunctioned and left my truck dead in the middle of a busy intersection and wouldn’t turn back on right away. Eventually it turned on and I was able to make it home safely. I thought this was a one time thing as the truck then appeared to be working fine after. But then it happened again after that where it wouldn’t restart after the auto start/stop function didn’t restart the engine. When I brought it in to the dealership they diagnosed the problem as a faulty etorque motor and replaced the unit in July, 2023, about a year and a half after I bought the truck brand new. Now 2 years later, the issue is happening again. This time the check engine light came on, then a few minutes later the battery low voltage light came on, all while I was driving at speed on the expressway. The truck never shut off and I was able to make it to my destination safely but I feared the same issue from 2 years ago was happening again. I immediately had the 12v battery replaced under the hood the same day and got an oil change to make sure it wasn’t either of those things triggering the check engine light. The check engine light remained on and so I was able to bring it to the dealership with the battery voltage gauge reading 11.2 at the lowest while on the way. They hooked up the code reader for the check engine light which showed error code: P0A78 - Drive Motor A Inverter Performance, leaving me unable to drive the truck home as it is unsafe to drive at this point for fear the truck would lose power while under way. As it stands, truck is at the dealership awaiting further diagnostics for the same issue that’s been happening since I bought the truck new in December, 2021.

AS you can see with my vin recalls are still not done. I have gotten in touch with ram recently to check on this, also because the local dealer will not do any warranty work on my seat bottoms that have started to rip at 44,000km they started to rip at 5,000km. three months ago my ac compressor dyed. again no warranty, I got in touch with ram because my truck states 5 year 60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. Ram US told me to get in touch with RAM Mexico and they dont even pick the phone and when a miracle happens they pick up the phone just to hung it up. I got in touch again with RAM us they escalated my case to a senior tech two months ago and no one has gotten in touch with me. Its obvius RAM sells outside US and does nothing for their clients.

Twice while coasting at between 5 & 10 mph, the engine shuts down, a warning shows auto disabled, and applies emergency brake before one can even get the transmission into park. On March 12th, 2025, I was driving the truck on cruise control at 70 mph on the toll road with no shoulder. The truck rpm gauge went to zero as well as all other gauges. The truck went to shut down mode, I then put the truck in neutral it would not let me start it so I applied the brake to stop the truck, then put it in park.The emergency brake light was on so I had to release it and the truck restarted . Note this stall happened the middle of the highway, luckily , no one came up on me while the truck was stalled. We took it to 2 different Dodge dealers today and they both say there is not a stored fault code or active code, therefore there is nothing they can do to resolve this issue. This is very frightening as I do not know if or when this could happen again.

Having a different electrical issues with this vehicle since I purchased it, of course the warranty has fallen off after just bringing it in for diagnosis for different reasons. Now it’s winter time and the truck will not start without a jump. I took it to get tested. Everything came back One thing that stood out at the auto parts store that the dealership could not find, kind of frustrating. The report reads no valid data available for ESM on CAN - C or CAND-PT with the codes U1267x2 and u1267-00 power training system. ABS- c2206-00 c2100-9a I’m hoping for help as now the truck is shortly out of warranty with miles now being 36400 miles. I also acknowledge that the car was cut out while driving at one point before all this happened. They couldn’t find anything so now I’m at a point where the truck doesn’t start without a jump I could probably take a video and show you right now. It’s probably dead. I went on vacation a week of Feb 8 out of town and I had to call my insurance company to give it a jump. There are other times the truck stall or cut off while driving. They drove the car and still couldn’t find the issues that I had and it’s starting to happen again.. so far Falls Dodge has been accommodating, but it’s very frustrating. Jun 13, 2024 2022 Rebel GT FIRST INCIDENT: while making a right hand turn from a stop light, the truck lost acceleration, rolled for a few feet and locked up into ebrake engagement and: >low voltage warning>red battery symbol>clicking lights>complete shut off!! Gave me the follwing messages in the display "key not in vehicle, place in park to start, low volatge." When i finally got it restarted it didnt give me full acceleration power. it limped down the road until i could safely pull off the road. Continued to show low voltage. I limped it home and conitued to have low volatge issues. i took it to the dealer next day and they was unable to recreate or resolve the issue. They reset the battery but It happened again... Well today while at 75MPH on the freeway, attempting to pass a semi my 2022 Rebel GT 24k miles lost acceleration and shut off, same as the times before. >low voltage warning>red battery symbol>clicking lights>complete shut off!! I was ready for the whole truck to lock up right there on the freeway becuase it usually engages the ebrake! After a few seconds it re started itself!! while at 75mph!!! then the transmission slips like its going to lock up-im assuming because of the e-brake engagement it usually does and the fact that i was going 75mph?!! It then engaged to "normal operation" with a 13.1 voltage, so I sped back up and I got my as* to the dealership that was fortunately only 2 miles down the road trying not to panic. My service lady came out and hooked it up for codes, what did she find?.... "nothing but B233C00 which is a random code" she said. Which means (as we all should be l familiar with by now) that they cannot do anything without data. I noticed that there has been an investigation opened and I wanted to add to the complaints

At a stoplight waiting for best turn available, truck tells me to shutoff vehicle and restart. THe e-brake was engaged so I was sitting in middle of intersection while event occured.
