Sometimes while driving I experienced my powered steering cut out while taking a ramp on/off of the highway, and sometimes when i was trying to park and back up into a parking space while steering at the same time. When the power steering cut out I got lights for "Service Power Steering", "Service ESC", and "Service Hill Assist" all at the same time, and once i got a power steering light. I looked up the issue and found that there is an active preliminary investigation going on for the same issue on the same vehicle, the investigation coded PE26002. Once I handed the vehicle over to the dealer, they found that the power steering had an open circuit on the steering gear. Once they took the connector off they found that the connector was corroded and the wires were burned on the steering gear and main harness side. I had to have them replace both the steering rack, and the main harness.

Related recall: NHTSA 25V720000 / Chrysler 67C — "The electrical circuit for the radiator fan may overheat." Fire/injury: No fire / no injuries; component overheated and burned/melted. Complaint narrative (paste this into the form) The radiator cooling fan on my 2020 Ram ProMaster 3500 (3.6L gasoline V6) repeatedly became stuck running / would not shut off on multiple occasions. The cooling fan electrical circuit overheated, and the fuse and fuse box (power distribution center) burned and melted, which in turn damaged the adjacent wiring harness. The fuse did not protect the circuit before the overheating and thermal damage occurred. This is the identical failure mode described in NHTSA recall campaign 25V720000 (Chrysler recall 67C), which states that "the electrical circuit for the radiator fan may overheat" and that "electrical circuits that overheat increase the risk of a fire," with a remedy of replacing the cooling fan module and fuse. My vehicle is a 2020 ProMaster, within the 2018–2026 model years covered by that recall. However, when I contacted Ram/Chrysler, I was told my VIN is not included in the recall population. I am filing this complaint because my vehicle experienced the exact defect the recall was issued to address — a stuck-on radiator cooling fan causing the fan electrical circuit to overheat and burn the fuse box and wiring harness, creating a fire risk. I had to pay to repair this damage. I request that NHTSA review whether the recall population should be expanded to include my VIN and other affected vehicles exhibiting this same failure. My van is subject to NHTSA recall 25V-720 (manufacturer recall 67C): a cooling fan module susceptible to premature bearing wear combined with inadequate fuse protection on the 400W fan circuit, which the manufacturer states may lead to a engiine fire. I rent this vehicle out on Outdoorsy, my van is used commercially as a rental and part of their terms and conditions state this vehicle cannot go out if there is a recall notice. I thought for sure lithia would have this solved by this summer. Since August 26, 2025 and also remains incomplete TODAY. Two open safety recalls have run concurrently on this vehicle for nearly a year. It is still a HUGE safety risk and I have now lost all of my summer rentals schedule due to no solves being available. I had to cancel ten confirmed bookings covering June through September 2026 totaling $11,041.20 in lost income. The Outdoosy platform independently reviewed the situation and categorized all ten cancellations as caused by the manufacturer safety recall. The manufacturer's customer care department documented the loss in writing, then stated it was unable to determine or authorize compensation and could not provide any timeline for review or schedule the fix, as no parts were available 2026-05-27 when I could not get a fix scheduled after trying for 2 weeks to find a solution. This complaint concerns the manufacturer's failure to remedy an announced fire-risk safety recall in a timely manner, causing me loss of income totally $11,041.20 and who know how many other bookings that would have continued to come in throughout the summer. The parts JUST became available, but I have yet to be called back by lithia to have my service scheduled, they don't know when the parts will arrive. I am still loosing income.

Thor Motor Coach has refused to honor warranty.

Due to the loss of power steering the tech at Rainier Dodge of Olympia performed electrical testing per diagnostic chart and found water intrusion into steering harness that has corroded wiring from the body harness into electric steering gear motor/module unit. The electric power steering gear assembly and harnesses must be replaced. The vehicle recieved a fault code U0140 stating loss of communication with body control module.

The contact owns a 2023 Ram Promaster 2500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, the message “Power Steering Service” was displayed with a high-pitched whining sound coming from underneath the hood and the dashboard. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the steering gear EPS module and jumper harness needed to be replaced, and the vehicle needed an alignment. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched online and associated the failure with NHTSA Action Number: PE26002 (Steering, Electrical System). The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

At 40,000 miles the Service Power Steering light came on solid red with "!". Hill Kelly Ram Dealership in Pensacola done a diagnostic test and stated Steering gear/EPS Module and jumper harness needs replaced with an alignment. There is an investigation going on or has been with this same issue. My original warranty says it is not covered, my extended warranty with ProGuard is not helping to fix the issue as well. I am retired single female on Social Security and just purchased this vehicle from Auto Basics on [XXX] XXX. My van needs to be fixed and I do not have over $1,233.00 out of pocket for Labor cost. This is my only vehicle and I want it fixed free of charge due to this being a well known safety issue with Ram Manufacturer. While driving, a “Service ESC” warning message appeared and the vehicle suddenly lost power steering assist, causing the steering to become extremely difficult and creating a serious safety risk while the vehicle was in motion. The vehicle was taken to a service center, where technicians found multiple loss-of-communication codes involving the electronic power steering system. Further inspection found the main electronic power steering connector full of water and corroded. The technician documented that water intrusion caused excessive damage to the electronic power steering terminals at the rack-and-pinion assembly. The water intrusion appears consistent with a failure or inadequacy of the sealing intended to protect the electronic power steering connection from moisture. Due to the extent of the corrosion and damage, the affected wiring harnesses and rack-and-pinion assembly had to be replaced, followed by a wheel alignment. This failure resulted in a sudden loss of power steering assist while the vehicle was being driven.

I am reporting a severe, intermittent loss of Electronic Power Steering (EPS) assist on a 2022 Ram ProMaster cargo van at ~21,000 miles. The defect causes sudden drops in steering assistance and erratic wheel-jerking under heavy electrical loads during rapid, low-speed turns while parking.A professional dealer teardown and inspection at Dutch Miller Ram confirmed that environmental rainwater from the windshield cowl completely breached the factory weatherproofing seals. Standing liquid was found pooling inside the bottom floor of the connector housing, causing severe copper oxidation (galvanic corrosion) and visible electrical arcing on a constantly energized 12V male pin inside the EPS gear cylinder. This high-current bottleneck drops voltage under load, causing the internal ECU to cut assist as a safety fail-safe.Critically, this design defect created an immediate, progressive cascading failure dating back to the very first month of ownership. Because this 12V power line remains constantly "hot" while parked, the pooling water established an un-metered short-circuit bridge directly to the frame ground. This forced an aggressive parasitic electrical drain that repeatedly flattened the battery after sitting for short two-week intervals throughout its lifespan, destroying the original factory battery.The dealer's safety protocol requires a complete steering rack replacement. However, because Ram recognized this vulnerability, they completely superseded the part with a redesigned assembly that forces consumers to purchase new, non-faulty tie rod assemblies just to make it compatible, inflating costs to over $6,000. This data directly supports the active NHTSA investigation into 2022-2023 ProMaster steering modules. Furthermore I imagine that since some people may continue to drive the vehicle under this particular condition of "barely being affected" until there is sudden failure on the highway or zero signs prior to catastrophic failure. whenever I was driving on the highway at 80MPH it felt like someone stepped on the brake pedal abruptly for a split second and the car with squiggly lines behind it appeared on the instrument panel, then disappeared. Goin this fast and having that happen is a major safety issue. After this happened the steering felt all over the place like I was floating and if I turned the wheel just a tiny bit the vehicle thought I turned it a lot and over corrected, needless to say I was all over the highway. Then the backup camera stopped working, the screen was completely black. I reset the screen and it worked for a couple seconds but then the color and picture got very distorted and then again went to a black screen.

While driving, the power steering stopped and basically locked up the steering wheel almost causing an accident. At the same time, multiple warnings flashed on the dash. After restarting, the vehicle operated as should until the following day when it occurred again and we had to have it towed to the dealership. Water intrusion and corrosion damaged a wiring harness and rack and pinion. The cost to repair was $5200. The dealership we use is Diehl Automotive. 6181 Steubenville Pike, McKees Rocks, PA 15136. They told me this is the 12th van they've had this happen to. They told me to report this incident since it is a safety hazard and the vehicle is only 4 years old.

I had NHTSA recall for this generator done (23E-030) which was to solve the same problem I just had. Apparently, they just moved to a smaller diameter fuel line to fit the fuel pump better. However, this hose also came off my Cummins generator fuel pump and was spewing gas all over the generator and the ground when we ran it. This is a very unsafe condition and I'm surprised, after the recall was performed by a certified Cummins dealer (verified by Cummins) that this "new" fuel line has also come off the fuel pump.

The vehicle's power steering does not work properly, especially at slow speeds and when attempting to back up. However, it has also failed while traveling on the interstate highway at high speeds. When you attempt to make a turn, the power steering feels like it is fighting you and wants to pull the vehicle back in the opposite direction. I took the vehicle in to be serviced, and they replaced the battery which removed previous warning messages. On two occasions, while traveling at slow speeds and making a turn into a shopping center parking lot, the vehicle resisted my attempt to make the turn such that had a car been coming out of the parking lot, rather than complete the turn, I would have run directly into the side of the other vehicle. While travelling on the interstate at 70 mph, I momentarily lost steering and had there been vehicles behind or beside me at the time, I believe it would have resulted in an accident. Fortunately, the cruise control simultaneously shut off.

The rear backup camera has been intermittently failing for over one year on this 2020 RAM ProMaster 2500. The failure has now become more frequent and extended. When the fault occurs, the infotainment screen displays a permanent "Camera System Unavailable" message that blocks access to all other functions including radio, phone, and navigation. The failure occurs in all gear positions and persists after engine restart. The only temporary resolution has been extended power-off periods. The dealer confirmed this vehicle is covered under Manufacturer Recall 59C / NHTSA Recall 25V-552 but stated no remedy parts are available. No written service record was created for this report. No interim remedy or timeline was provided. The recall was issued August 2025 and as of May 2026 remains unresolved. The contact owns a 2023 RAM PROMASTER. The contact stated while driving the vehicle at an undisclosed speed, while changing lanes the steering wheel is trying to drive the vehicle into another lane and barriers at times without the Collison avoidance system activating. The contact stated the collision avoidance system is very delayed or sometimes does not show up at all, he also stated that the Collison avoidance waring states it needs maintenance, the contact stated that the vehicle feels like it is close to tipping over and requiring a "death grip" on the steering wheel enable to keep it in control. The vehicle was taken to multiple dealers were they would not diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 43,518.
