WHEELS

On June 16, 2026, while traveling southbound on Highway 67 in Cedar Hill, Texas, my 2015 Cadillac SRX suffered a sudden, catastrophic tracking failure and crashed into a highway wall (Cedar Hill PD CFS Report 7655). Component Failed & Availability: The rear suspension toe link assembly separated at highway speeds, a direct failure matching active GM safety recall NHTSA 21V473. The totaled, un-repaired vehicle is preserved at a Copart yard and is 100% available for inspection. Safety Risk: The sudden tracking loss at highway speeds caused an immediate, un-correctable collision with a concrete wall, creating a severe, life-threatening risk to myself and surrounding traffic. Service Confirmation: On June 2, 2026 (at 165,006 miles), an independent service center (Discount Tire) documented an over-torque of the rear right wheel to 140 ft-lbs, introducing severe mechanical stress directly adjacent to the defective recall joint right before the crash. Inspections & Warnings: Documented by responding police (CFS Report 7655). There were zero dashboard warning lamps, messages, or physical symptoms prior to the sudden structural failure.

In Nov 2021 we had the recommended recall repairs done at a Cadillac dealership which replaced the rear toe links with a non-adjustable bar. 2 months later we installed new tires at Big O Tires but they were unable to perform a rear alignment due to the stationary toe bar. We went back to the Cadillac dealership days later but were assured the alignment was fine. Just over one year later (approx 15K miles driven) we have significant wear on our inner tires. Last week we had Big O run an ExpressAlign report and the rear tires have severe negative values. The value even with the toe bar should be +0.020. I contacted Hunter Machine Alignment and they confirmed our concerns. They said Cadillac solve this problem immediately. At this time Cadillac is only agreeing to inspecting the installation of the recall repair however this does not resolve the safety concerns with this vehicle. Why would a stationary bar be installed if the customer would not be able to get their wheels properly aligned? This recall repair seem to have increased the safety and reliability of this vehicle further. From CR Reports https://www.consumerreports.org/car-recalls-defects/general-motors-recalls-suvs-for-rear-suspension-problem-a8620817999/ According to GM, certain SRX and 9-4X SUVs were recalled in 2014 (NHTSA No. 14V571) because part of the rear suspension called a toe link hadn’t been properly tightened during the assembly process. After that initial recall, the company received further reports that some toe links were still loose, and it revised the procedures outlined in the initial recall. In 2020 GM continued to receive field reports about suspension-related issues. These included traction control, electronic stability control (called Stabilitrak by GM), or "service rear axle" warnings, malfunctioning taillights, swaying or wandering at highway speeds, uneven rear tire wear, or loud clunking noises over bumps. NHTSA’s campaign number is 21V473. The initial recall number was 14V571.

2012 Cadillac SRX Inola, OK Crash

While driving on the highway my car suddenly went sideways five times. I had no control over my vehicle and luckily did not hit another vehicle. Once I was safely on the shoulder, I saw that my rear driverside wheel was sticking out. I had it towed to the dealership and then found out that there was a recall on the rear toe end link adjuster. They kept my car for weeks and kept sending me assessments of damage and assuring me it would be good as new when returned. After I declined their offer to fix my front struts for about $4,000 they said it was ready, but still needed to be aligned. I drove it home and immediately called bc it was not fixed and swayed dangerously on the road. They said bring it Monday (this was a Friday) it sat in my driveway then I noticed all the oil that leaked. I took it back (couple more weeks) they said oil changed (cost to them) leak caused by gasket not sealed properly. Also the washer fluid kept just pouring out and they had to fix that which they said was my fault but I'd never had trouble before. Then they said my car was ready and they had fixed the recall by making the adjuster NON adjustable. My car still swayed all over the road and now makes a loud clanking noise in the front. After a month my rear tires both on the inside of the tire closest together are wore out showing wires. I paid for two used tired. Two weeks later it's happening again. Another shop checks the tires and is amazed that I made it to have him check the tires because the toe link but was so loose that my wheel was about to fall off again! He tightened the nut that IS undoubtedly ADJUSTABLE. My tires are now wearing out again and I've yet to receive any news on how to get the national recall fixed. No concern for safety at all.

I received a recall from GM as to the toe links in my vehicle. On November 4th it went into the dealership to have the parts replaced and the following morning my car lost control when something happened between the tires and the steering which caused my car to swerve all over the road, lose control, flip and go into a ditch. There were 3 warning lights on, ABS, traction, and Stabilitrak. The car has not yet been inspected but will be. Thank God it happened around 5:30 a.m. when there were not a lot of cars out yet on the highway.

I received a notice 21V473 from the NHTSA, via an email and a written letter nearly 90 days ago. GM dealers are stating they do not have the parts to repair this safety recall notice. How long do owners of these UNSAFE vehicles have to wait for these parts to be manufactured? NHTSA should be imposing some kind of DAILY fines on GM for these delay tactics. Am I suppose to not drive this vehicle because it is not safe to be on the road? GM is just stalling and using this delay tactic because they know this is going to cost them millions of dollars to correct these flaws. The owners of these vehicles are being punished by not making these repairs in a timely manner. NHTSA should put the pressure on GM to correct this malfunction in a more rapid manner by fining GM on a daily basis then maybe they will move off their duffs!

2011Cadillac SRX owner. Car has know water issue that collected inside car at the time of rain ruining the tailgate module. Since that time I have had all of the warning lights as indicated in the recall of August 2021. Stabilitrak Service, Slippery Roads, Shut off engine now etc. I have been waiting for the recall part to be produced since August and have been without a vehicle. I contacted Arrowhead Cadillac a few weeks ago and learned part not in production. It is going on 60 days of me having a vehicle that I can not sell or trade or use. I contacted the main Cadillac customer service and was informed that I could rent a car on my own and submit request for payment months from now- or I could take the car in to have the "bolt tightened" (recall bolt that I have symptoms listed in recall to not drive) . I informed that both of these solutions are a no go for me- especially the one suggesting I have the bolt tightened- at the risk of me and my family's lives. The CSR recommended that I have the SRX towed to local dealership. I said I would and it can sit there- not having it towed back and forth. I contacted the Arrowhead dealership in Arizona and agreed to have the car towed for evaluation, and would be stored at the location. With no time frame of when I will have a working vehicle. I later decided to look at cars on the lot since I was planning on purchasing a car next year. I contacted Arrowhead sales and explained- they said would consider giving me a trade in of $ 3-4,000 and no vehicle deal although. The car can be should at $8,000 and from the law that I can determine if the dealership is unable to provide a repair in a timely manner that they would need to provide replacement at full value. I am a person that owns a car that is inoperable in a timely manner. I feel that Cadillac suggesting I have the Bad part tightened- and then not compensating me for the re cost or cost of the vehicle is a complaint worth reporting.

I received a recall notice for a safety issue with my cadillac srx 2011. Recall #N212340980 regarding the real toe link. My vehicle is already showing signs of this issue and has been for over 2 years. Cadillac is not prepared to handle this issue. I called to make an appointment and was told they do not have the parts yet to fix the issue. Not to drive my car for safety reasons. I do not have access to another car, they cannot offer a loaner vehicle or a rental, so they so. I have doctors appointments, I need to use my vehicle. I am awaiting a reply from the dealership as to when the parts will be available, in the meantime I have to pray my car does not fall apart.

There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 21V473000 (Suspension) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact called the local dealer who stated that the parts were not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered a loaner vehicle or a credit towards another vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000. The VIN was incomplete.

4 Mar 2021 passenger side front wheel bearing failed while returning home from anniversary trip with 37,733 miles on our SRX. Dealer stated that SRX was out of warranty due to time after purchase. 5 July 2021 passenger side rear wheel bearing failed while returning home from family trip with 40,003 miles on our SRX. Called Cadillac Customer Care and received a case number. Immediately received an email stating that she was my customer advocate and would get back to me within 3 working days (email is attached). NO ONE has ever contacted me. I have contacted CCC on four different occasions with a promise every time that someone would get back to me within 48-72 hours. NO RESPONSE. I have not been discourteous to any of the Customer Care personnel and therefore, have no idea of why they do not respond to me, even if it was a DENIAL. I get the impression that this problem may be greater than they want to acknowledge and they are hoping that I will just go away. I will not, this is more about principal at this point than money. Can you provide me guidance on what to do next, or can you assist in obtaining a response to my case?

a few months ago I started noticing a loud noise coming from the rear of my vehicle. Then my Service Traction Control light, Service Stabilitrak light, Service Rear Axle light, the Stabilitrak malfunction indicator lamp all come on my display screen. I took my tires to have them rotated and the rear tires were unevenly worn I was told. The other thing that is happening is that my steering wheel does not stay going straight, it veers off to the right.

THE HEADLIGHTS HAVE BEEN GETTING MORE DIM CAUSING SAFETY ISSUES AT NIGHT FORCING ME TO USE THE HIGH BEAMS TO MUCH AND GM TRIED TO FORCE OWNERS TO PAY TO FIX $1700 ESTIMATE OUT POCKET WITH THE HOPE & PRAYER THEY WOULD REIMBURSE THROUGH A THIRD PARTY THAT HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE AS DOCUMENTED ON:: HTTPS://GMAUTHORITY.COM/BLOG/2020/03/2010-2015-CADILLAC-SRX-OWNERS-STILL-BATTLING-WITH-HEADLIGHT-PROBLEMS/COMMENT-PAGE-5/#COMMENT-1001328 AND HTTPS://CADILLACSOCIETY.COM/2020/03/10/OWNERS-CONTINUE-TO-STRUGGLE-WITH-CADILLAC-SRX-HEADLIGHTS/ I HAD MORE THAN ONE INCIDENT THAT SHOWS MY CAR COULD CAUSE INJURY BASED ON MAKING MISTAKES FOR LACK OF VISIBILITY. THIS IS A DEATH WAITING TO HAPPEN AND GM IS BARELY GOING THROUGH THE MOTIONS TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE NOT IGNORING IT BUT BLOWING IT OFF IN MANY WAYS SUPPRESSING IT IN MANY WAYS . THE OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE WHEEL BEARINGS AND SUSPENSION ARE SCARY WHEN YOU HEAR THE NOISES AND I THINK MORE SCARY WHEN YOU ASK FOR AN ESTIMATE WHICH I WILL PUT OFF DECIDING TO TAKE A CHANCE WITH AN AREA OF THE CAR THAT CAN TRULY CAUSE DEATH IF THE PAST MEANS ANYTHING. I AM GOING TO MENTION THE PROBLEM WITH THE DEFECTIVE QUE SYSTEM THAT THEY ARE CLEARLY TRYING TO DENY BUT DID PAY 90% OF MY $1000 REPAIR WITHOUT TAKING BLAME AND OF COURSE THIS IS NOT A REAL SAFETY CONCERN BUT WORTH DESCRIBING BECAUSE IT SHOWS A CLEAR PATTERN OF SUPPRESSION AND AVOIDANCE TO RECALL A CLEARLY DEFECTIVE PART OF A VEHICLE . REF: NHTSA CAMPAIGN #: 14V571000 - MY VIN DOES NOT COME UP AS AFFECTED BY THIS RECALL. HOWEVER, ON 2/10/2020, DRIVING 35 MPH ON TOWN STREETS, THE CAR WAS A LITTLE DIFFERENT TO CONTROL (ALMOST 'LIGHTER'). AFTER MY STOP, I RESTARTED THE CAR, TURNED A CORNER AND FOUND IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO STAY IN MY OWN LANE. EVEN AFTER SLOWING TO 20 MPH AND FIGHTING TO CONTROL THE CAR, IT FELT LIKE THE REAR OF MY CAR WAS DRAGGING ME IN TO THE RIGHT LANE AFTER PARKING, I NOTICED MY REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WAS AT AN ANGLE OF ABOUT 30-45 DEGREES FROM THE REST OF THE CAR. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY REPAIR GARAGE. THEY SHOWED US THE TOE NUT (JAM NUT?) UNDER THE REAR SUSPENSION , HAD APPROXIMATELY 1/2" BEFORE IT COULD CAME OFF COMPLETELY. BEFORE AGREEING TO THE REPAIRS WE CALLED THE LOCAL CADILLAC DEALERSHIP. THEY DID NOT ASK FOR A VIN, BUT INFORMED US THAT THE "RECALL HAD BEEN CLOSED" FOR THIS ITEM SO WE WERE ON OUR OWN FOR REPAIRS.

WE ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH THE LOW BEAM HEAD LAMPS. THEY ARE NOT SAFE!! WE HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS FOR HELP, ONLY TO GET A "IT'S NOT OUR PROBLEM" RESPONSE. GM IS SURELY AWARE, AS A SEARCH FOR HELP WITH THE ISSUE POPS UP MANY COMPLAINTS AND POSSIBLE CLASS ACTION LAW SUITS CURRENTLY IN THE WORKS. WHAT BRINGS ME HERE NOW IS, MY WIFE RECENTLY DONE SOME SERIOUS DAMAGE TO THE CAR AND MINOR PERSONAL INJURY WHEN SHE HIT AN OBJECT IN THE ROAD THAT COULD HAVE AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF SHE COULD HAVE SEEN IT!! WE ARE JUST THANKFUL THIS WAS NOT A PERSON. I WOULD GLADLY TESTIFY THAT THIS COULD ACTUALLY BE A POSSIBILITY IF SOMETHING IS NOT DONE WITH THESE LIGHTS. WE WERE TOLD WE COULD REPLACE WITH THE SAME LIGHT, AT OUR COST (APPX. $1500.00) WHICH I'M SURE WOULD SOON HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. WHICH SHOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM AT ALL WITH A TWO YEAR OLD $50,000.00 CAR. PLEASE HELP US AND ALL THE OTHERS WITH CORRECTING THIS, BEFORE SOMETHING REALLY BAD OR DEADLY HAPPENS, IF IT HASN'T ALREADY. WE HAVE TALKED TO SEVERAL FRIENDS IN OUR HOME TOWN WITH THE SAME CAR WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.
