TIRES

LT245/75R16. Driving north on I-77 around Charlotte, NC around 7:40 PM and the tire blew out. I saw in my left rearview mirror the treads roll off the right side of the highway. I did not run over anything. Travel speed was 65 to 70 mph in medium traffic. No warning lights came on. Did not lose control and was able to navigate to the left side of highway when enough space opened up after a guide rail. All that was left was the rim and shredded sidewalls. Tire was installed in August, 2025 and had just about 3000 miles on it when the blowout occurred. The passenger side of the vehicle was about 3 feet from the fog line, and traffic for the exit ramp was very close to the vehicle. Called 911 and NCDOT helped remove the rim and put on the spare. My wife and daughter were in the vehicle.

TIRES

LT245/75R16 The fist tire failure was rear driver's side which caused a code service stable trac- this caused the vehicle to lose power and engine to die. I made home at 20mph in yraffic.I spent $500 for diagnostic check and new tire. The tire is misshapen and alerts sensor that caused engine to lose power and ultimately die. With new tire the problem was solved. But then the rear passenger tire while on the freeway acted up and caused the van to shake and rattle violently. Drove home at lower speed . I replace that tire with the spare which is a different brand and the van ran fine. Checked the bad tire and it is higher on one side than the other. Checked front tires and there are flat spots and irregularities on both tires

Update to case 11444012 I replaced the 2 tires and Goodyear inspected my other tires and said no problem selling 3 year old tires. Now another one of these tires is cracking. I have removed the tire and it's a clear defect causing cracks and bubbles. 245/75R16 111T SL WRL AT ADVENTURE OWL Tire failed on the inside side wall while the Van was parked for about 2 hours. Tires were purchased in 2019 but has a built year of 2016. AAA service inspected the Van and could not locate reason for issue. I also examined Ring video footage during the event and did not see anything near the Vehicle at the time of the event

TIRES

DRIVING ALONG INTERSTATE 10 OUR MOTOR HOME BEGAN TO SHAKE LIKE TIRES BEING OUT OF BALANCE. I STOPPED AT EXPRESS TIRE IN FREDERICKSBURG, TX. THEY FOUND THAT THE TREAD WAS SEPARATING ON THREE OF THE SIX TIRES. BECAUSE WE WERE TRAVELING I ONLY REPLACED THE THREE PROBLEM TIRES. CONTINUING OUR TRIP WE TRAVELED ANOTHER 1,000 MILES AND A FOURTH TIRE SEPARATED. AT THAT TIME I WAS ONLY 200 MILES FROM RETURNING HOME SO HAD THE SPARE PUT ON AND CONTINUED HOME WITH NO FURTHER PROBLEMS. I DO INTEND ON PURCHASING FOUR MORE NEW TIRES BEFORE OUR NEXT TRIP.

TIRES:TREAD/BELT

I WAS DRIVING ALONG IN MY 2000 CHEVROLET EXPRESS VAN AT THE LEGAL SPEED OF 65 MPH WHEN SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING THE VAN BEGAN VIBRATING AND SHAKING VIOLENTLY TO THE POINT THAT I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF IT. I IMMEDIATELY REDUCED MY SPEED-TO ABOUT 10 MPH UNTIL I COULD FIND A SAFE PLACE TO EXAMINE THE TIRES. THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE HAD A LARGE SWOLLEN PLACE ON IT SO I REPLACED IT WITH MY SPARE TIRE. ALTHOUGH THIS VEHICLE IS A 2000 MODEL THESE TIRES ARE THE ORIGINAL ONES AND ONLY HAVE 21,950 MILES ON THEM AND I AM AFRAID TO TRUST THE REMAINING FOUR. THE FIVE TIRES ARE MICHELIN XW4. WHEN THE FAILED TIRE,WHICH WAS MOUNTED ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AT TIME OF FAILURE WAS LATER EXAMINED IT SHOWED SIGNS OF SEVERE PLY SEPARATIONS AND OUTER RUBBER CRACKING.
