ABS Valve Body / Pump Harness chafed through brake hydraulic line near transmission crossmember. This resulted in a hydraulic leak and loss of brake pedal feel / partial loss of brakes. Fortunately failure occurred in the driveway--I had 4500 Lbs of sailboat trailer hitched to the van and was about to go on a long trip. Design issue. Wiring harness should not be located so as to chafe on hydraulic lines. This is not the first chafe related failure on this vehicle.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Express NAV. The motorhome is a 2020 Coachman Freelander. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, during the night and in the rain, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal and jerked violently. The contact jolted violently and was almost thrown off the driver's seat. The contact pulled to the side of the road. Once the vehicle was on the side of the road, the contact noticed white smoke or steam emitting from the rear of the vehicle. The contact was able to continue driving. The vehicle was towed to an independent RV mechanic who diagnosed that the entire front and rear end were damaged: brake springs, brake rotors, brake lines, and brake pads. The vehicle was repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V702000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). The contact notified the manufacturer about the loss, and the manufacturer refused to complete the recall since the vehicle was never taken to a dealer. The contact stated that none of the dealers accepted the vehicle since no lifts were available that could hold that much weight. The contact applied for reimbursement, and the manufacturer declined. The failure mileage was approximately 6,000.

I was driving and out of no where my brakes “ all four wheels “ locked up as if I was hauling a heavy load . I put on my hazard lights to warn the semi behind me. So I maintained control of my line until the cargo van slowed down to a safe speed for me to pull over . I thought the semi was going to run into the back of me, luckily the southbound line was clear so the semi took off pass me. So as I was coming to a safe stopping speed my brake pedal was stiff as well and when the cargo van slowed down to a safe speed, I pulled over to check my brakes with a warm liquid “ all four brakes were hot “ .

I was in a front end Collison due to a brake failure and when I have a steel gate at about 30 mph no airbag deployed. Car was towed by the Upper Darby Police Department and it is totaled. I have 2023 Jayco Redhawk SE mounted on a Chevy Express 4500 Cutaway chassis with only 5300 miles on it. Chevrolet dealer ran diagnostics and replaced an ABS sensor which had no impact on the problem. I have an appointment to have it looked at by another dealership recommended by Chevy Customer Service. It is not safe to drive, going up straight steep grades on the interstate the right rear wheel keeps locking up under acceleration. Best I can tell the system just starts braking hard on the right rear and maybe both rear wheels even though you are trying to accelerate. It gets worse on steep entrance and exit ramps or steep curvy roads. Almost always when this happens there is traffic following closely at highway speeds (55 to 70 MPH).

The car always turns on the slippery road warning light when I drive over 60 miles per hour and the wheels lock up. Sometimes, the ABS warning light also comes on, along with error messages saying 'Service Traction Control' and 'Service StabiliTrak'.

The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle started to pull to the left, prompting the contact to pull over to the shoulder off the roadway. After a visual inspection, the contact stated there was smoke coming from the driver's side front brakes. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact was informed that the braking system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 18,000.

This is a Forest River Sunseeker Motorhome on a 2021 Chevrolet Express chasis. On Friday, [XXX], after being in stop and go traffic for 10-15 minutes on [XXX] driving at 65 mph, a smell of burning brakes started filling up the motorhome. Then the vehicle started to wobble and the ABS light came on. Pulled over to the side and while applying brakes the vehicle shook/wobbled. Drove to a NTB tire store and the manager indicated it was not the tires but smelled like the brakes burning and advised not to drive it. Had it towed to Monument Chevrolet and they reported they could not replicate the problem. No repair. On [XXX] after numerous trips in RV, the exact same thing occurred. This time drove it to Monument Chevrolet with dash lights on: ABS, brakes, etc. and demanded a repair. They replaced left front speed sensor for $406.00. On [XXX], coming off of a mountain, the exact problem happened again: wobble, ABS light, and this time the Stabilitrak sensor on. The dealer in Arkansas ran a history report and said the right front speed sensor had failed. No repair available because of the size of the vehicle. Now scheduled to return to Monument Chevrolet 01/09/2025 to hopefully be repaired. Chevrolet has recalled 638,000 of the vehicles with identical issues but mine not on recall list. The ABS/Traction control system has malfunctioned 3 separate times since purchase of the vehicle in 2017. The indicated fault is code C0110-04, Pump Motor Circuit Open. This fault has required the replacement of the Brake Control Computer (GM part# 19435407) and the Hydraulic Control Module (GM part# 25879231). The first malfunction occurred in October 2020 at 48,594 miles, the second was November 2022 at 91,621 miles with the most recent fault in August 2024 at 147,411 miles. The fault has not affected the ability to stop the vehicle, but it does render the ABS/Traction Control System inoperative. The vehicle is a travel van with the majority miles being highway miles (very little city driving)

The ABS lights began coming on and off in April of 2023. My certified mechanic checked codes and found no specific trouble from the available code information. The Abs lights eventually stayed on by November of 2023. Through more investigation, my mechanic determined that the ABS Module- C 84055066 and ABS Pump Assembly- C 25879231 had ceased to function. He ordered the ABS parts ,(manufactured in Texas), and was informed that there were so many shops around the country waiting on those parts that we would have to wait months before the parts could be manufactured and delivered. My vehicle only had 40,000 miles on it when the ABS lights were illuminated on the dash. The parts did finally arrive and were installed. We also had to hire a separate ABS module programmer to reset the computer. The ABS module and ABS pump failure seams to be a completely defective system. I would hope these parts will be included in a nationwide recall. Thank you
