May 13,2020. 11:32am Driving north, my drive side tire violently shook & suddenly gave way pulling me hard left. I struggling to keep truck in my lane but lost control of steering , the airbags also deployed. Blocking my view. The rode was a blind spot . I thought it was a tire failure. Be of the drop & hard pull to left. While the rode was curving right . I could not get truck to fallow curve. Causing truck to cross into oncoming lane. I never saw the other car . With air bags deployed. I thought I lost a tire and hit ditch was lifted up and hit ground hard. I was told I truck hit another car after crash . Hitting a car coming the other way. Causing a young women’s death. The tie rod had a clean break swing freely after break. In March 2020 had pulling or with extra movement off & on . Took to shop, they put a new sway bar on it. Seemed to help, no problems until this sudden catastrophic Paul and drop hard enough to deploy airbags. Truck is totaled but is here & available for inspection. Steve Erwin @ Scientific Analysis Inc. in Dallas TX 214 320-8686 has many pictures & Analysis. He mainly does accident recreations. This recall N62 13V-528 was never done by Duwanne Lanes Everett WA even though I was told by the dealership service team that they had done this recall as requested while they had my truck for over 3mo ths time. On April 3 ,2022 my vehicle had a cautostraphic failure of my steerwheell column & caused my front left tire to break totally off the front steering stabilizer front ball joint tie rod end pitman arm the wheel was free spinning .I had no steering control at all while driving 65 mph on I5 in the center lane. It is sheer luck that I was able to get truck off the freeway without being injured. I think Duanne Lanes of Everett, Wa (RECALL REMEDY INCIDENT) TS

While driving down the highway, 7 of 8 lug studs of the right front wheel spontaneously broke off. Vehicle became difficult to control and steer. The one remaining lug stud kept the wheel on long enough to pull onto the shoulder of the road. This was a heavily travelled interstate highway. My safety and the safety of other motorists was at high risk. Broken lug studs are available for inspection. All of them broke at the location where the threads end at the shoulder of the bolt. I had recently performed brake service and the wheels were mounted and properly torqued to manufacturer specifications. No police report or dealer inspection. I made the repairs. No prior warning of the problem. This is identical to the problem a friend had with his Ram dually, that is now in a recall. Part number is 6509866AA. I have owned this vehicle since it was new.

RELEASED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WHEN GETTING READY TO START ROLLING WAS TOWING A TRAILER. HEARD A SNAP AFTER ROLLING A FEW FEET, THE EMERGENCY BRAKE DID NOT DISENGAGE WHEN RELEASED AND THE BACKING PLATE ON THE CALIPER SNAPPED OFF. I BELIEVE THE COLD FREEZING TEMPS TIRED OUTSIDE AFFECTED THE ENGAGEMENT MECHANISM AND PREVENTED IT FROM ACTUALLY RELEASING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE .

ON FREEWAY GOING OVER EXPANSION JOINTS ENCOUNTERED FOUR SEPARATE TIMES SEVERE STEERING WHEEL SHAKING AND BOUNCING, I HAD TO BRING THE TRUCK TO AN ALMOST COMPLETE STOP TO GET IT TO QUIT! TRAVELING AT 75 MPH AND 60 ON THE FREEWAY ITS SOME THING THATS VERY UNSAFE TO HAVE HAPPEN.

WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ONE EVENING MY TRUCK STARTED MAKING THE MOST AWFUL GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE. THEN MY ABS LIGHT AND SERV 4WD LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH. A FEW SECONDS LATER THE TUCKED BOBBLED AND WEAVED AND I COULD NO LONGER STEER IT. WHEN I GOT OUT TO LOOK AT THE PROBLEM THE WHEEL ITSELF WAS RESTING ON THE HUB ASSEMBLY. PREVIOUS TO THIS I'VE HAD TO REPLACE FRONT END PARTS LIKE CRAZY. NEW BALL JOINTS AND I JOINTS ANNUALLY. BRAKES TWICE A YEAR, AND IT WILL EAT UP TIRES ON THE FRONT. ALSO THE TRUCK WILL NOT STAY ALIGNED. I'VE CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND FIRST THEY WERE VERY HELPFUL, BUT THEN THEY STARTED TO GIVE ME THE RUN AROUND. I'VE HAD TO HAVE THEIR TIE ROD END RECALL FIXED SEVERAL TIMES AS WELL.

WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 50-70 MPH I HAVE RUN ACROSS SMALL BUMPS OR HOLES THAT CAUSE EITHER FRONT WHEEL TO SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO REDUCE SPEED DRAMATICALLY OR EVEN STOP TO GET IT BACK UNDER CONTROL. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS CALLED THE "DODGE DEATH WOBBLE".

ON IT & WE HAD CHKD PSIG ON ALL TIRES JUST PREVIOUS TO THE BLOWOUT. THIS TIRE WAS A LT265/70R-17/10 TERRAMAX HT ALL POSITION OWL MADE BY DYNAMIC TIRE. LES SCHWAB REPLACED IT WITH ONE JUST LIKE IT. WE HAD A 4,000LB ARCTIC FOX CAB OVER CAMPER ON THE TRUCK AT THE TIME. DYNAMIC STATES THERE IS NOT ENOUGH EVIDENCE OF POOR QUALITY OR ANYTHING ELSE THAT WOULD NAME THEM AS THE RESPONSIBLE PARTY.

THE WHEEL STUDS BREAK WHENEVER I'M CHANGING TIRES, I'VE REPLACED 7 TOTAL. I HAVE TO PUT THEM ON VERY GENTLY THEN I TORQUE DOWN BY HAND. I RUN A FLEET OF TRUCKS AND DO MECHANIC WORK. THIS IS THE FIRST VEHICLE I'VE HAD TO DO THIS ON. RIGHT NOW I'M SITTIN ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BECAUSE MY RIGHT/REAR TIRE FELL OFF DUE TO ALL MY STUDS BREAKING. I HAVE HEARD OF OTHER RAM OWNERS HAVING ISSUES, THE DEALER SAID THAT THEY AND I'M OVER TIGHTENING BUT I'VE NEVER HAD THIS BEFORE. THESE ARE LUG NUTS... COME ON RAM, GET IT TOGETHER AND DO A RECALL. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN. IF I WERE ON THE HIGHWAY WITH A MOTORCYCLIST NEXT TO ME HE/SHE COULD HAVE DIED. I WAS MOVING 57MPH WHEN IT FELT LIKE I WAS GOING INTO A DIP AND THEN I SAW SPARKS FROM MY ROTOR, AND SAW MY TIRE/RIM GO FLYING OUT OF THE DITCH. IT PASSED ME AND NOW IS SITTING IN THE FIELD. IF I WERE HAULING A TRAILER IT WOULD HAVE BEEN TERRIBLE ALSO.
