The contact owns a 2006 Ford Crown Victoria. The contact stated that while reversing, the vehicle was sluggish. The contact applied more pressure to the accelerator pedal; however, the vehicle unintendedly shifted into drive (D), accelerated, and struck the rear of a parked, unoccupied vehicle while blocking oncoming traffic. The contact stated that upon shifting into reverse (R) a second time and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle reversed, but the failure recurred, and the vehicle struck the rear of the unoccupied vehicle, pushing it into another parked and unoccupied vehicle. No warning light was illuminated. No injuries were reported. No Police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was then driven to AAMCO Transmissions, where the failure was confirmed, but the cause of the failure was not determined upon inspection. The contact was provided an estimate to disassemble the transmission but declined. The vehicle was driven a mile away and towed to the dealer, who informed the contact that the failure was potentially related to the steering column. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired, and the contact was referred to AAMCO Transmissions for additional assistance. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 108,460.
NHTSA complaint #11751128 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
The lower steering column bearing is coming apart I’ve called numerous dealers for them to tell me it’s not under recall but it’s a known issue and my car has only 130,000 miles

NHTSA complaint #11660679 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
Lower intermediate steering shaft and upper intermediate steering shaft universal joints are binding, causing very unpredictable steering and the upper intermediate steering shaft to begin separating from the steering column. This is covered under recalls 13S08/13R01. The vehicle was inspected and passed in 2014 so no parts were replaced, but the parts are now failing inspection per recall attachment sheets. Ford is refusing to service these crucial parts which are COVERED in the above recalls.
NHTSA complaint #11560868 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
I HAD THIS VEHICLE IN FOR THE RECALL IN 2014 AND ACCORDING TO THE DEALER REPAIR THE STEERING COLUMN WAS WITHIN LIMITS NOT TO COMPLETE THE SECOND HALF OF RECALL 13S08 BUT A FEW WEEKS AGO MY STEERING SHAFT SEPARATED WITH NO WARNING AND I CAME TO A REST IN AN INTERSECTION. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND THEY CONFIRMED THE SEPARATION OF STEERING. I DID NOT PUT A CLAIM INTO INSURANCE AND NO DAMAGE WAS DONE TO ANY OTHER VEHICLE SO THE POLICE WERE NOT CALLED. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED UNTIL AFTER THE FAILURE. THANKFULLY I WAS NOT ON THE HIGHWAY. I CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THEY WERE NO HELP AS WELL AS THE DEALER WHO DID THE RECALL IN 2014. THEY SAID THAT THE RECALL WAS DONE WITHIN THE PERIMETERS OF THE PROCESS AND THAT THEY COULDN'T HELP ME. I NOW HAVE SPENT OVER $1500 ON REPAIRS AND STILL IS NOT CORRECT AND I AM WORRIED ABOUT IT HAPPENING AGAIN. I THINK THAT THE SECOND PART OF THE RECALL SHOULD BE MANDATORY WITH THE BRACKET THAT HOLDS THE COLUMN FROM SLIPPING OUT. JUST PRIOR TO THE STEERING COLUMN BREAKING JUST BEFORE I TURNED THERE WAS A SLIGHT BINDING AND THEN IT SEPARATED. OTHER THAN THAT THERE WAS NO WARNING. I GOT THE RECALL DONE AS SOON AS I GOT THE LETTER IN THE MAIL AND I THINK FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS REPAIR AS WELL AS ALL THE CROWN VICTORIAS ON THE ROAD. THANK YOU.
NHTSA complaint #11541223 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
Vehicle is exhibiting stiff steering issues associated with steering column. Mechanic determined steering shaft requires replacement. This vehicle was already involved in a steering column recall several years ago however the problem appears to have returned.
NHTSA complaint #11519396 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
I learned of recall on some models of crown victoria police interceptor. I own 3 such vehicles. Two were identified for recall, the third a 2011 however was not. This car has signs of steering issues very hard to turn the wheel at times. There is rust on the lower intermediate steering shaft and at the u joints of the shaft. When I took the other vehicles in for recall servicing I provided the vin # for the 2011 and was informed that there was no recall for it. I am hoping that the recall can be expanded to include this vehicle which is showing some signs of steering shaft issues.
NHTSA complaint #11519486 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.

NHTSA complaint #11480958 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
The right front wheel hub broke at the weld when turning in a parking lot. The part is available for inspection. Had this happened at freeway speed, the right front wheel would have departed the vehicle. The safety hazards are obvious. I attempted to contact customer service and they did not reply. There was no warning sign and the part has not been inspected. I am not a welder. It appears this part had a bad weld from the start. I suspect it was welded by a machine and there may be more just like it from the same production run.

NHTSA complaint #11457782 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
I was informed by my mechanic that my steering column shaft needs to be replaced on my 2004 primary vehicle. Ford says they do not have a recall and will not cover the service. I have a recall for THE SAME ISSUE for my (not currently driving) 2005 Ford Crown Victoria Interceptor made in the SAME LOCATION (St. Thomas). 2005 Manufacturer Recall Number 13S08, NHTSA Recall Number 13V385000). The recall includes cars originally sold in NH (both of mine) and says: SEVERE CORROSION CAN SEIZE THE LOWER INTERMEDIATE SHAFT WHICH MAY CAUSE THE UPPER INTERMEDIATE SHAFT TO COLLAPSE AND THE STEERING COLUMN LOWER BEARING TO SEPARATE. Safety Risk: IF THE LOWER BEARING SEPARATES, THE VEHICLE MAY EXPERIENCE A LOSS OF STEERING, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. How can Ford say there is no issue when there is an active recall for it on model years 2005-2011? Have there been reported issues/crashes of 2004 cars with this defect? Is there anything I can do to have Ford cover this? Or are they not bothering because there probably aren't many 2004s still on the road? Is it possible to get Ford to provide the manufacturer lot/date codes of the defective steering parts? As my 2004 & 2005 were built in the same location, I would bet my 2004 was built with the same steering part manufacturer lot as my 2005- they probably don't turn out the volume of police Interceptors as commercial cars. Thank you
