Subject: Complaint Regarding Ford Safety Recall 25S28 – Unresolved APIM Module Issue Vehicle Information: Year/Model: 2021 Ford Edge Recall: Ford Safety Recall 25S28 Defect: Rear-view camera and APIM module software malfunction. Summary of Issue: June 2025: Attempted recall repair; dealer stated recall was on hold. August 2025: Received another recall notice but delayed repair since no issues were present. November 2025: Navigation system, CarPlay, and infotainment screen began shutting off. Dealer confirmed these functions are controlled by the APIM module covered under Recall 25S28. December 2025: Vehicle at dealer for ~2 weeks. Dealer attempted software update, then said Ford corporate approved replacing the telecommunications chip on Dec 12. On Dec 16, dealer informed me Ford put the recall on hold again and instructed me to pick up the car without the fix. Current Status: Vehicle still has defective APIM module affecting rear-view camera, Bluetooth, GPS, and infotainment system. Ford corporate states there is no timeline for resolution. Safety concern: Rear-view camera may fail, and infotainment system shuts off while driving, impacting visibility and driver awareness. Requested Action: Please investigate Ford’s repeated delays and lack of remedy for Recall 25S28. Ensure timely resolution and enforce compliance with recall obligations.

I bought a CPO 2021 ford edge titanium from lasco ford of Fenton Mi. When purchasing the vehicle the salesperson repeatedly kept saying the car was clean with a clean car fax checked out by their mechanics but did NOT tell me the vehicle has an open safety recall which me and my wife weren’t told or seen on the car fax not to mention the car broke down right away after we left the dealership at 9:30 at night after closing which in Michigan selling a CPO vehicle with an open safety recall and not telling us is illegal if they checked the vin prior to selling is the vehicle they would have known. I felt that they misled me on the car also doing everything they can to not let me test drive it

The dealer said that the crash sensor bracket was fractured & the dealer wouldn’t repair it under warranty. The bracket wasn’t repaired, they wanted $595.00 to repair it. I was driving the Ford Edge and the roads were a little slick so I was driving very slow. I was about 2 blocks from my house when I needed to engage the brakes to come to a complete stop, which happened to be going downhill toward a stop sign that intersected with a freeway off ramp. Both the brakes and ABS failed to engage and I hit a guard rail across the intersection. This caused significant damage to my vehicle and was very lucky that no one was hurt. The "Check Brake System" only came up after I ran into the guard rail, which was also the only time I needed to fully engage the brake to come to a full stop. The shop confirmed that the accident would not have damaged the brakes.

LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
1) The lane keeping assistance feature was engaged. 2) I observed an upcoming snow drift across the road. 3) I stepped on the brakes to slow down. 4) I observed there was no oncoming traffic (two lane road). 5) I moved over towards the center of the road to better navigate the snow drift. 6. The lane keeping assistance feature adjusted my steering to move me back into my lane (closer to the ditch). 7. The vehicle entered the snow drift with my wheels turned to the right. 8. The snow drift impaired the lane keeping assistance feature. 9. I lost control of the vehicle. 10. I hit a utility pole. Does the user manual instruct the operator to disengage the lane keeping assistance feature during snow and icy conditions?

BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING
I received a recall letter from Ford Motor Company dated April 2022 for recall notice 22S14 / NHTSA Recall 22V151. The risk is "A rear-view camera that intermittently displays a blank or distorted image can reduce the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash." This recall is not in the Ford or NHTSA database for my vehicle yet I have experienced this problem. The remedy is a software update which the dealer has not been able to install. A new AIPM module has been on backorder since November 19, 2021 when the previous owner experienced the same problem.

On April 26, 2022 the dealer performed the recall (Ford 22S!4) a software fix to correct a rear camera problem, I was NOT experiencing on my 2021 Ford Edge ST. It took the entire day to do the procedure, and after getting the car back, I experienced what seemed to be some temporary problems, but the main problem being the front camera not operating as designed. I brought the vehicle back to the dealer on May 3 2022, and as of the date of this communication, May 27, 2022 they have not been able to correct the problem I will be without use of the vehicle for one month as of May 31, 2022. Consumer stated her 2021 Ford Edge ST front camera, not working after the recall for the rear camera was done.
