My 2026 GMC Yukon AT4 (VIN [XXX] ) has a manufacturing defect in the second-row driver-side captain's chair. The C-clamp / latch mechanism that secures the seat to the floor was depressed (partially released position) at delivery on [XXX]. I was able to manipulate the latch enough to work but the release trigger then would not depress to release the seat back from a tumble position. My [XXX] daughter's car seat usually sits in this seat. This is safety-critical for two reasons. First, the second-row captain's chair is the anchored platform for my child's car seat. A seat not fully and correctly latched to the floor compromises the LATCH and tether load path that every car-seat manufacturer's certified installation depends on. Second, a captain's chair that will not fold or tumble blocks emergency egress for third-row occupants in a crash, fire, or rollover, and blocks rescue access to a trapped child in the second row. This appears to implicate FMVSS 207 (Seating Systems) and FMVSS 225 (Child Restraint Anchorage Systems). The vehicle is approximately 16 weeks old and was sold to me with this defect present from delivery. This is one of two manufacturing safety defects on this vehicle within thirty days; the other is a spontaneously shattered panoramic moonroof (NHTSA #11738557) on [XXX] in Mississippi, filed separately. Both defects involve the same area — directly above and at the seating position where my [XXX] daughter rides daily. The vehicle is at the dealer awaiting parts (moonroof on back order to ~June 1, 2026; over six weeks out of service). I urge NHTSA to track this complaint and similar reports on the 2025-2026 full-size SUV platform for consideration of a defect investigation. After GMC completed 4 recalls recently, my drivers side seat lumbar support started automatically inflating to the highest setting, as well as the shoulder support. I could not deflate the shoulder support at all, but could deflate the lumbar support, but had to do it every single time I got in the vehicle. After they did additional recalls about 30 days later, the issue got worse and often times I'm unable to deflate the lumbar support at all, making driving extremely uncomfortable and what I would deem slightly unsafe given how inflated the seat is. The fact that the 2nd set of recalls made this situation worse makes me suspect it's related to module updates as opposed to my particular seat. Now I am on the hook for a $1200 fix. 2 different GMC locations did the recalls.....I do not blame either of them, I believe this is a defect GMC should look into asap given they have had similar seat issues in the past.

I purchased the vehicle in July 2024. I drove the car for 10 days, and when I was driving 65 mph, the check engine light blinked three times and then went off. After that, the engine made a sound that was not there before. I took the vehicle to the dealership and they had the car for many weeks, concluding that the lifters broke and the engine needed to be replaced. The dealership said they replaced the engine and the car was returned to me towards the end of August. Since then, the AC has been worked on three different times in the past year and on the third attempt, there is finally cool air coming out of the driver's air vents. The driver's seat AC blowers malfunctioned and were repaired. The dealership put the original engine's belt back on and then broke. The electric system inside glitches from time to time when you first start the car. The front windshield wipers will randomly swipe while driving. After getting a regular oil change, the car sprang an oil leak due to the cap not being tight enough. Over the past 5 months, there has been a random popping sound in the front driver's side area when coming to a stop that two dealerships can not figure out. The belt in the engine still makes a high-pitched sound when first starting up and lasts for about 1 minute. While in park or sitting at a light, the engine will idle up and down from time to time. The vehicle has been worked on by the dealership where it was purchased and also a GMC dealership.

In January 2021, I purchased a new 2021 GMC Yukon Denali from a GMC dealership, which currently has only about 27,000 miles. To date, several recalls have been assigned and completed for my vehicle. per the websites for GMC and your agency. However, based on published recalls for my vehicle and a repair that is currently underway, I have reason to believe that my vehicle should have been subject to three prior recalls for which it was not [NHTSA ID Numbers: 20V735000 (Front Seat Bolts), 25V274000 (V8 Engine Failure, and 21V739000 (Fuel Power Control Module] Currently, the fuel pump control module is being replaced at a local GMC dealership because it failed last week and left my stranded at home. GMC issued a recall for this in 2021, but my vehicle was not included. Aside from risk and inconvenience, this is also costing my over $300 for a rental. Secondly, though my vehicle's make/model/year is cited in GMC's ongoing engine failure recall, which you are investigating, I have not received a recall notice. I note GMC's financial interest in minimizing vehicle's it recalls for such a costly repair. I have inquired with GMC and two of its dealers and have only received reiterations that my vehicle has not been subject to GMC's recall, which I already knew. I have not been given any explanation for why my Yukon has not been recalled despite my inquiries. Lastly, GMC issued a 2021 recall for front seat bolts; however, I did not receive a notice for my Yukon. I have occasionally felt slight movement in the driver's seat since buying the vehicle. Based on reason and facts, I am alleging that GMC appears to be artificially minimizing recalls and notifications for vehicles that are in fact impacted by defects in their vehicles.

The third row seat attachment from the seat to the frame has broken. It is a hook type mechanism that holds the entire row of seats to the latch in the floorboard. This car was not in an accident and the seats broke when the vehicle stopped. There should be a recall. Also the back seatbelt was on a recall for this vehicle but doesn't show up anymore. The headrest in the 2nd and 3rd rows of the 2023 GMC Yukon are not adjustable or removable, reference page 39 of an owners manual. This is a major problem when installing car seats into the vehicle. Because of the design, the headrest tilt forward and do not allow car seats to properly sit against the back of the seats. This causes a gap between the back of the car seats and the seat back of the car. I have 4 kids and 3 different types of car seats. All of the car seat manuals say that for proper installation the car seats must seat flush with the seat back of the car. Well this cannot happen because of the design of the vehicle. Therefore I cannot properly install car seats of any type into this vehicle. I am not the only consumer with this issue as it is all over the internet as well. I have called GM corporate and they are not willing to address this safety concern as it would require a design change. I have attached pictures of 2 of the seats which have a gap between 2-5 inches depending on the height the car seats are set at.
