FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
ACC automatically canceled without braking causing car to either slow down immediately or speed up unsafely, slippery road light turns on, on dash while driving straight, lunging of the car that feels like tires are spinning and or hesitation.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
On the highway my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel briefly stalled and the check engine light came on. I then lost all power and could only maintain a speed of 45MPH in a 70MPH speed limit highway. I turned on my flashers and could not get off the road due to construction and Jersey barriers for several miles. When I had the opportunity I pulled off the side of the road and called to have my vehicle towed to a service facility. I was informed by the mechanic that scanned my car for trouble codes, a P0336-00 was set in my PCM. The mechanic informed me that I would have to take the vehicle to a Jeep Chrysler dealer. This is apparently a known issue with 2014 to 2018 Jeep Grad Cherokees equipped with the 3.0L diesel engine including RAM 1500s of the same vintage with the same diesel engine installed. The specific problem is that the crank shaft tone wheel is not read by the crankshaft position sensor because of degradation to the tone wheel which is connected to the crankshaft. I have complied with all safety and emission recalls. Related: RC-RW68-20 Safety Recall W68 Transport Canada 2020-371 Loss of Crankshaft Position. Requires the replacement of the Tone wheel. Issued 02/11/2021. RC-RW58-20 Safety Recall W68 Transport Canada 2020-371 Loss of Crankshaft Position. Requires PCM Software update for Loss of Crankshaft Position. In lieu of the Tone Wheel failing, the computer uses the Camshaft Position sensor. This is only designed to not disable the car completely but allow the driver to pull of the road. P0335-00 or P0336-00 wil be set and a check engine light will illuminate. My vehicle was not included in the NTHSA Safety Recall and it should have been.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
Valve lifter failure at 93,000 miles. $2,700 repair. Is apparently a very common problem with the 3.6l Pentastar engine. Adaptive Cruise Control and Forward Collision warning system front sensor failed at 56,000 miles, failed again at 76,000 miles and failed a third time at 95,000 miles. First two failures were replaced under warranty, third failure happened 1 week after warranty expiration from second replacement. Cost is too expensive to repair ($3,000 for new sensor) and requires that safety feature be turned off as sensor will perceive increases in road elevation (hills) as another vehicle and apply the brakes

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
We were driving and we heard a chime and nothing showed on the display panel. Then we went thru the displays and saw a message regarding the ACC something about manual something. Then we lost power. Since we were on the highway We turned the truck off and started it again to potentially reset. We drove a couple blocks to exit the highway and lost power again. The we got out of the vehicle and smelled smoke. We peaked under the hood and saw fire. We all got out, grabbed our stuff and then the fire spread and engulfed the truck. Total loss.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS
The computer/screen died disabling most of the essential controls/functions of the vehicle including: hands free calling, control of the temperature/air flow, park assist/safety options, security features. This issue also disabled the ability to control other functions such as the windshield wipers and drained the battery until it died. The battery had to be recharged and then after that any time I turned the car off I had to unplug the battery so that it wouldn’t be drained.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS
The license plate LED lights went out. Pulled over by trooper to get them replaced, as they are a safety concern for troopers to identify the license plate number. After a few trips to a couple auto parts store, I learned that none of them carry lights. One of the parts stores representative said I would need to get in touch with Jeep. Jeep confirmed, that they need to replace the wiring harness and lights for this model year which is 2015. I looked online and it seems to affect model years 2014-2019. Jeep wants to charge nearly 200.00 to fix the issue. If the lights are required for safety concerns and help with backup camera to make it more visible in the dark, then this should be a concern to owners of Jeep Grand Cherokee model. There are no warning lights to let you know the lights are out until you get pulled over and ticketed by the police or you go to get the vehicle inspected and told you need a costly repair. If Jeep knows about this defect, they should be doing a recall for the issue.

Was driving down the road it was raining no other vehicles around BRAKING! came on the screen and the brakes were applied without me doing it. The second time it happened brakes locked up on interstate for a couple seconds then back to normal. If anyone would have been behind us we would have been rear ended. It happened 2 times within an hour. I will be getting it looked at by the dealership as soon as I can.

FORWARD FACING CAMERA BEHIND REARVIEW MIRROR DEVELOPED AN INTERNAL FAULT, WHICH TRIGGERED VEHICLE'S COMMUNICATION BUS TO NOT FUNCTION AT ALL. VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AND COULD NOT BE JUMPSTARTED. NO INTERIOR LIGHTS OR ACCESSORIES FUNCTIONED. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED AND AFTER DIAGNOSES, THE DEALER DISABLED THE FORWARD FACING CAMERA TO MAKE MY VEHICLE OPERABLE AGAIN, BUT WITHOUT FUNCTIONALITY OF AUTO HIGH BEAMS AND FORWARD COLLISION WARNING AND FORWARD COLLISION ACTIVE BRAKING FEATURES. THE FORWARD FACING CAMERA IMPACTS AUTO HIGH BEAMS, FORWARD COLLISION WARNING, AND FORWARD COLLISION ACTIVE BRAKING FUNCTIONS, AT MINIMUM. IT WAS FREEZING OUTSIDE, BUT NOT ICY ON THE ROAD. WELL LIT. I WAS NOT IN A RUSH. CAR WAS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE UP UNTIL THEN. I WAS GOING ~10 PMH DOWN THE INSIDE PARKING GARAGE DRIVEWAY. HAD TO PULL TO THE RIGHT DUE TO CAR COMING UP PARTIALLY ON MY SIDE. SCRATCHED THE SIDE WALL. ONCE THAT HAPPENED, THE CAR ACCELERATED OUT OF CONTROL. BRAKES DIDN'T REACT. ONLY WAY TO STOP THE CAR BEFORE RUNNING INTO OTHER CARS OR EVEN PEOPLE WAS STEERING THE CAR INTO THE WALL FRONT ON. THE CAR FINALLY STOPPED, THE WALL BROKE DOWN. THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T GO OFF, THE BRAKE ASSISTANCE SYSTEM DIDN'T KICK IN. FORTUNATELY NOBODY WAS HURT, BUT COULD HAVE EASILY HAPPENED. THE CAR IS A TOTAL LOSS. I WAS NOT UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF DRUGS AND DON'T HAVE A SEIZURE DISORDER. WITNESSED EVERY SINGLE SECOND FULLY AWAKE AND AWARE.

A BIG WARNING COMES ON MY DASH BOARD SAYING BRAKES AND AUTOMATICALLY STOPS WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS HAPPENED TWICE. IT IS SCAREY BECAUSE THERE IS NO REASON I NEED TO BRAKE NOR CAN I CONTROL THAT THE CAR IS FORCE BRAKING IT SELF. I HAVE READ 2 OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND BOTH HAVE ENDED IN CRASHING THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE COMPUTER FORCE BRAKING ITSELF IN THE SUV.

FORWARD COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM WITH BRAKE MITIGATION CONTINUES TO ENGAGE INTERMITTENTLY ON ITS OWN. THIS IS NOT TO BE TAKEN LIGHTLY. THE FORWARD COLLISION WARNING WITH BRAKE MITIGATION ENGAGES INTERMITTENTLY, OUT OF THE BLUE, WHEN THERE IS NO NEED. MEANING; I'LL BE DRIVING ALONG . . . NO CARS OR OBJECTS IN FRONT OF ME, AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE SYSTEM SLAMS ON THE BRAKES, JERKS VERY ABRUPTLY, AUDIBLE BELLS GO OFF AND THE SCREEN ILLUMINATES BRAKE BRAKE BRAKE! THERE HAVE BEEN 3 INSTANCES IN WHICH MY FAMILY AND I HAVE NEARLY BEEN REAR-ENDED DUE TO THIS ERRATIC BEHAVIOR THAT THE VEHICLE IS DEMONSTRATING. I'VE BEEN IN A COMPARABLY EQUIPPED LOANER CAR FOR THE PAST FIVE WEEKS AND IT HAS NOT DEMONSTRATED THIS TYPE OF INCONSISTENT, ERRATIC BEHAVIOR. THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, BE IN OR AROUND. THE JEEP WAS PURCHASED ON JULY 9, 2016. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE INTO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT 4 TIMES SINCE JULY 21, 2016. AFTER EXAMINATION OF DAMAGE, ELECTRIC TECH REVIEW AND 2 TEST DRIVES (32 MILES AND 100 MILES) THE RESPONSE I GET IS, "THE SYSTEM IS WORKING AS DESIGNED." THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN SERVICE 51 OF THE 103 DAYS OF OWNERSHIP, 49.5%. THE SELLING/SERVICING DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN EXTREMELY NEGLIGENT IN PROVIDING TRANSPARENCY TO ANY SIMILAR ISSUES TO MINE. QUITE FRANKLY, THEY HAVEN'T COMMUNICATED MUCH OF ANYTHING TO ME. THE LAST TIME THE SERVICE ADVISOR REACHED OUT TO ME, VIA TEXT, WAS ON SEPTEMBER 23, 2016. MY CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN AWFUL. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN AN FCA VEHICLE, NOR DO I RESPECT ANY OF THEIR CORPORATE OR DEALER NETWORK ASSOCIATES. THIS IS THE WORST CONSUMER EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. UNBELIEVABLE THAT MY SAFETY IS NOT A CONCERN TO FCA OR THE SELLING/SERVICING DEALER. IF IT WERE, I WOULD HAVE BEEN PROVIDED A FULL REFUNDED AND FREE TO GO ELSEWHERE MAKE A PURCHASE WITH A MANUFACTURER THAT I TRUST AND APPRECIATES ME, THE CUSTOMER.
