VISIBILITY/WIPER

During a manufacturer-mandated software module update, North Central Ford (Plano, TX) bypassed continuous power supply safety protocols. This negligence caused a voltage drop, interrupted the software flash, and completely corrupted the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM). The dealership returned the vehicle to me, stating the update was complete. The corrupted module failed to power down, causing a severe parasitic drain that completely killed the battery overnight, leaving the vehicle immobilized and immune to jump-starting. The APIM is completely corrupted. The disabled vehicle was towed back to North Central Ford and remains available for immediate inspection. Safety Risks: The corrupted APIM permanently disabled the federally mandated backup camera (violating FMVSS 111) and touch-screen climate/defroster controls, creating severe rear and forward visibility hazards. The module's failure to sleep causes a continuous parasitic battery drain that has already stranded me and introduces a high risk of sudden electrical failure in traffic. Dealer Confirmation: North Central Ford's paperwork confirms they caused the failure. Their Day 1 intake Multi-Point Inspection officially documented my battery in "GOOD CONDITION" prior to service, and their initial invoice explicitly states the update was "UNSUCCESSFUL." Furthermore, after I supplied a new replacement battery for a second diagnostic, they confirmed a U2100 code (Initial Configuration Not Complete), proving the module was electronically wiped during their botched procedure. Prior Symptoms / Inspections: None. The electrical system and screen were fully functional prior to the software update. Inspected solely by North Central Ford. Status: The General Manager dismisses their own diagnostic codes, refuses to repair these technician-caused safety defects under consequential damage guidelines, and is attempting to charge me out-of-pocket, The vehicle remains at the dealership due to active safety hazards.

2011 Lincoln MKX Marion, IA

VISIBILITY/WIPER

My backup rearview camera blacked out one day. Then it came back upside down. Then one day it went back to a right-side up view. But then it is upside down again. It is EXTREMELY difficult to see anything now when I back up with the view being upside down. There is a recall 25S42 from April 2025 for something similar, but it includes a 2015 Lincoln MKC but NOT the 2011 Lincoln MKX. They need to add the 2011 Lincoln MKX to the recall. I'm a Lincoln fan and i really don't like to see them including some cars and some don't. it has been the same issue for all of them and that will increase the possibility of accident

My dash touchscreen display became inoperable, no radio, no camera, no NOTHING My wiper blades come on by themselves and won't allow me to shut them off. The headlights remain on in the auto position... they won't shut off. Warning Lights on the dash comes on at times (lights up with lots of warnings) I'm no auto professional, but I think my issues are linked. I also, see that years ago there was a body control module recall that mentioned electrical shorts that could possibly cause a vehicle fire. OMG, I believe there's an electrical problem and I am hoping that the recall would cover these issues.

WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME IN MKX, LESS THAN 1000' FROM HOME, AND HEARD A LOUD POP THAT SOUNDED LIKE A GUN SHOT. DIDN'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED UNTIL SHE GOT HOME AND WE LOOKED ALL AROUND. DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING UNTIL WE RAISED BACK HATCH DOOR AND HEARD GLASS BREAKING AND FALLING. LOOKED ON TOP AND NOTICED THAT THE VISTA ROOF HAD EXPLODED. SHE WAS GOING LESS THAN 30 MPH THANKFULLY AND SUN ROOF WAS COMPLETELY CLOSED. RESEARCHED THIS ONLINE AND FOUND IT TO BE A PROBLEM ON A LOT OF CARS, EVEN FOUND CLASS ACTION CASE BUT IT WAS DISMISSED IN 2016 FOR SOME REASON. WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR THIS TO BE CORRECTED...DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO LOSE THEIR LIFE BECAUSE OF THIS? WHAT IF YOU WERE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE AND THIS HAPPENED? COULD BE A REAL PROBLEM! I DON'T HAVE PICS TO DOWNLOAD YET BECAUSE I TOOK IT TO FORD DEALERSHIP BUT THEY STILL HAVE THE CAR. SERVICE MANAGER HAS TRIED TO GET HELP FROM FORD BUT THEY REFUSE. I DO SEE WHERE SEVERAL HAVE GOTTEN SOME MONETARY RESPONSE FROM FORD, BUT IT WAS AFTER A LOT OF TROUBLE AND HASSLE. SOMEONE, EITHER FORD OR THE GLASS MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER FILED ANY TYPE OF COMPLAINT BUT THOUGHT IT TO BE NECESSARY IF IT MIGHT SAVE SOMEONE'S LIFE.
