2019 Mitsubishi Outlander Las Vegas, NV

AIR BAGS

See attached document for complaint. The vehicle was sold without disclosure of an active airbag safety recall involving explosive deployment. Disclosure occurred only after contracts were executed and funds tendered. Had this life-safety information been disclosed prior to sale, the vehicle would not have been purchased. The failure to disclose a known safety defect at the point of sale constitutes material concealment and reckless disregard for consumer safety, particularly given the vehicle’s intended use for routine highway travel.

2019 Mitsubishi Outlander Salt Lake CTY, UT Crash 1 injured

AIR BAGS

I am reporting a safety concern involving complete airbag non-deployment in a frontal collision. On January 9, 2026 I was involved in a frontal collision while driving my Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. The impact caused significant front-end damage, and the vehicle was subsequently deemed a total loss by the other driver’s insurance company. None of the airbags deployed, including the driver and passenger frontal airbags. There were no airbag warning lights or system alerts illuminated prior to the collision. A police report was filed for this incident. I was not injured; however, the other driver sustained injuries. Given the severity of the frontal impact and the resulting damage, I believe the airbags should have deployed. This raises concerns regarding a potential defect or failure in the airbag system, crash sensors, or airbag control module. I have photographs documenting the vehicle damage. I am submitting this report so the incident can be reviewed for potential vehicle safety defects that may affect other vehicles.

2025 Mitsubishi Outlander Berwyn, PA Crash

AIR BAGS

I rented this vehicle from Alamo/Enterprise at Denver Airport on 9/7/2025, and that day, while enroute to Casper WY hit a large deer on I-24 N in Wyoming where the posted speed limit is 80 mph, which was exactly the speed I was travelling. The deer was struck by the drivers side front of vehicle, causing extensive damage , loss of headlight and many small parts and electronic sensors as there were a number of dangling wires. The deer was killed instantly. My safety concern is that the air bags failed to deploy, which was surprising given the speed and over $17,000 damage estimate from: Enterprise, case # 23039354, contact person [XXX] can be reached at [XXX] at extension [XXX] . The car was drivable, after tying down all of the loose parts and wires and front grill. I feel that hitting a large deer at 80 mph should have set off air bags, but I could be wrong, since the radiator did not leak and the vehicle remained drivable- but I thought it was worth alerting you and being put in your data To see if other Mitsubishi Outlanders from 2025 have same problem. During operation in wet and rainy conditions, a warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. The malfunction has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. To date, the vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. The affected components remain available for inspection upon request. No advance warning symptoms were observed other than the dashboard indicator that illuminated immediately prior to the incident. The car's airbag system service required came on without any incidents to the car. It used to be on and off but now, it is consistently on. The seat detect very lightweight things like a book or a bag and gives the warning of seatbelt not on. The airbag system and the pressure sensor of the passenger seat is faulty. With this warning, airbags will not deploy. I saw multiple incidents with other Mitsubishi Outlander owners who have the same issue.
