FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

I bought my van in March of this year (2026) and the fuel gauge will either show that the tank is almost empty (gas light on) or full. Sometimes it will show an accurate gas reading and other times it shows the gas tank is full. I am going to a dealership in the morning to see about getting it fixed under the recall or getting quoted to have it fixed. This is the only vehicle I own and I have to travel with my kids so I cannot ride around with a fuel can inside due to the fumes. I worry about running out of gas with my children in the car.

NHTSA complaint #11739588 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.

2012 Nissan Quest Whitehall, NY

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

I purchased the van and noticed that at times it would suddenly de-accelerate and drop from whatever speed im doing and refuse to speed up even if I press the gas peddle to the floor. Id come up to a stop sign and stop, then at times it wouldnt accelerate, even with the peddle to the floor, it would barely move forward. I brought it back to the person I purchased it from tried to describe what happened, they had someone check the transmission and said it was fine. Its continued to do this, and has almost caused crashes because it does it periodically and without warning on inclines, at red lights, if I driven a long distance (i.e. 1hr or so) etc, and when stopped. Its done this especially when it comes to hills, its terrifying but I have no other vehicles and now only drive it locally, avoid hills, and only if I absolutely have to. This is my first Nissan and wasn't aware of issues like this as I typically buy Buick's, so I researched Nissan issues and recalls and recently saw a recall from October 2025 related to the fuel pump injector system reset that describes what ive experienced exactly, but when I took it to the Nissan dealership in Saratoga NY, they said its not a recall, just a warning for my model and year, and they would need to charge me to inspect it, and didnt advise if it was repairable. Anyone else who has this model Nissan I would want warned immediately, and I mean immediately. Its scary seeing other vehicles coming up behind me and I dont know if my van will accelerate or not, I took out a loan to buy this vehicle and am still paying it off. I cant buy another right now. The actual recall for what appears to be the same issue came out for 2013 and newer Nissans but again, should include this model for year 2012. Those of us with this vehicle should be included in the recall so we can drive safely as well. Please make this update to the recall asap. Thank you for your time and consideration to review this

FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER

The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Quest. The contact stated that the vehicle ran out of gasoline with the fuel gauge indicating that there was a quarter tank to a half tank of gasoline inside the fuel tank. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where the contact was informed that the vehicle was under an unstated recall for the fuel leveling unit; however, the part for the repair was on a national backorder. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the part was not only on backorder, but that the part for the repair was discontinued. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

My vehicle is experiencing the issue under Recall NHTSA ID 12V076000: fuel supply issue that could cause engine stalling. Specifically, due to a programming error, the fuel pump might not supply enough fuel to the engine when driving at slow speeds or idling downhill with a ¼ tank or less of fuel.

My van is not accelerating properly, it seems to idle out and does not go over 20 mph it idles on acceleration decline. i could not get out of way fast enough if traffic was busy.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

If I push the brakes to make the car stop, then try to have it accelerate again, like at a stop sign or anything, the gas pedal feels like it’s not doing anything, and the car doesn’t start for like 5 seconds, then when it does it goes about 5 mph for like 500 feet, then it goes back to normal, and because of this we feel it’s not safe to operate. This happens every time I drive it, so I only feel safe on not very populated roads driving it.

I entered 14 freeway by sierra hwy entrance, as soon as I got in the fwy and left the pedal gas to slow down to get into traffic my van lost power and the shut off complete, i was very fortunate that it happened at the entrance and the cars behind me were able to stop on time and nobody got hurt, also today as soon I exit the cvs store get in into traffic, 1 minute after the van lost power and got stuck in traffic, this is very scary for me and my kids, my mechanics are not able to find the problem, please help

NHTSA complaint #11518166 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.

2007 Nissan Quest Clermont, FL

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

1. Fuel Gauge- the fuel Hague is incorrect. I suspect somewhere between 1/2 tank and 3/8 tank will actually be an empty tank. I was almost left stranded when I could make it to the next service station. The car performed slow and the car came to a slow stop. No fuel indicator light came on. 2. My steering wheel has been very difficult to turn. Suddenly the power steering tank requires daily service. There is a rattling noise that gets a little better when I pour power steering fluid. I am unable to make safe turns due to the steering wheel no moving at it’s normal rate. Turning at intersections is the worst as I sometimes have to try several attempts. I end up having to take wide turns and that is not always safe in our narrow streets. There is no indicator light related to this concern.

NHTSA complaint #11479117 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.

2008 Nissan Quest Springfield, MA Crash 1 injured

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

I backed out of driveway towards the south to head north on public way. Vehicle immediately started accelerating backwards (south) without assistance, quickly getting out of control. No amount of pressure on my part would make the brakes work and there was no control of the steering. The vehicle was no longer under my control and crashed backwards into a large tree which held it from crashing farther, and a small tree on the side which held it from rolling down into a brook. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request and I would prefer that it be inspected. No vehicles or pedestrians were in the street when the vehicle lost all control without human assistance. The passenger is front passenger seat was taken to ER and has since been seeing a doctor. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or other service center. The police were at scene of accident right after it occurred. No lights, messages, or other symptoms gave any warning before the vehicle started racing and immediately went out of control with no control over speed, brakes or steering The consumer provided photos and police report.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

ACCELERATION FROM A FULL STOP IS UNRELIABLE. THE ISSUE IS MOST PROMINENT WHEN GOING UP A SLIGHT INCLINE AND WILL CONTINUE UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS ABLE TO LEVEL OFF, WHEN ACCELERATION RESUMES TO NORMAL RESPONSE. EVEN ON LEVEL ROAD SURFACES, THE ACCELERATION IS INCONSISTENT ONCE ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED. THIS HAS BEEN A CONSISTENT ISSUE FOR WELL OVER A YEAR.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

FUEL GAUGE SENSOR WAS BROUGHT IN FOR RECALL BUT ISSUE STILL EXISTS. DEALER CLAIMS I NEED TO PAY TO DETERMINE IF IT IS STILL THE SAME PROBLEM. DEALER ALSO CONFIRMED THEY DO NOT VERIFY THE RECALL WORK DONE WAS SUCCESSFUL. ALL THEY ARE REQUIRED TO DO IS "PUT IN THE NEW PARTS". WHEN I FILL THE TANK WITHIN 5 MINS. IT GOES BACK TO EMPTY ON THE GAS GAUGE. THE RECALL DID NOTHING TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

THE FUEL GAUGE SHOWS AN INCORRECT READING. THE INDICATOR SHOWS THAT IT IS EMPTY EVEN WHEN I REFUEL IT WITH FULL TANK. THE CAR STOPS ON THE ROAD AS THE FUEL SHOWS AN INCORRECT READING WHICH POSES A DANGEROUS THREAT. I HAVE GOT THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED THREE TIMES. IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING TO SPEND SO MUCH TIME AND MONEY AND NOT GETTING THE ISSUE FIXED. THE CAR ALSO FAILED INSPECTION BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. THERE IS A RECALL FOR 2007-2008-2009 NISSAN QUESTS' BUT MY 2008 NISSAN QUEST IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL!

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

THE AIR BAG LIGHT GLITCHES ON THE DASHBOARD, IT TURNS ON AND OFF. THE ONLY WINDOWS THAT OPEN ARE THE FRONT DOOR WINDOWS, THE BACK SIDE WINDOWS COULD BARELY CRACK OPEN && THE TEMPERATURE INSIDE THE VEHICLE "WITH THE WINDOWS OPEN" REACH DANGEROUSLY HIGH TEMPERATURES THAT LITERALLY ARE HARMFUL AND DANGEROUS. A FAMILY VEHICLE WITH NO ABILITY TO OPEN ANY WINDOW ON THE 2 SLIDING DOORS, CAN LEAD TO VERY HIGH TEMPERATURES EVEN THOUGH THE FRONT 2 WINDOWS OPEN IS STILL NOT ENOUGH FOR AIR TO REACH PASSENGERS WHO SIT IN THE MIDDLE-ROW ESPECIALLY PASSENGERS WHO SIT ON THE 3RD ROW SEAT IN THE BACK OF THE VAN. A RECALL MUST BE DONE TO ADJUST THE WINDOWS ON BOTH SLIDING DOORS ON EACH SIDE TO BE ABLE TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS... THE TEMPERATURE TRAPPED INSIDE THE VEHICLE[PASSENGERS AND SEATS AREA] WITH ALL THE WINDOWS OPEN WAS OF 99, ON A REGULAR SUNNY DAY.... WE DROVE TO WHERE WE HAD TO GO AND NO TYPE OF AIR WOULD REACH THE BACK SEATS WHERE MY DAUGHTER WAS SITTING... SHE BEGAN TO HAVE PROBLEMS BREATHING AND WAS SWEATING SO MUCH.. I KEEP HER HYDRATED ESPECIALLY WHEN WE HAVE TO DRIVE FAR BECAUSE THE AC DOESNT WORK AND WE CANT ROLL ANY WINDOW IN THE BACK DOWN SIN E THEY DONT ROLL DOWN... WHEN ITURN ON THE AC THE SMELL OF GASOLINE BEGINS TO COME OUT THROUGH THE VENTS... MY CAR WASNT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALL U HAD BEFORE WHICH MY CAR NISSAN QUEST SV 2004 CLEARLY SHOULDVE BEEN INCLUDED FOR THE AIRBAG RECALL....
