On May 8, 2014, the Office of Defects Investigations (ODI) opened Preliminary Evaluation PE14-012 to investigate allegations of inaccurate fuel tank fill level while driving resulting in the vehicle running out of fuel in model year (MY) 2007 Nissan Quest vehicles.During this investigation, Nissan identified a condition in the subject vehicles that may result in the fuel gauge falsely indicating more than the actual amount of fuel remaining in the gas tank. Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2008-2011 Titan, Frontier, Xterra, Pathfinder, Armada, and 2008-2009 Quest vehicles. The resin emblem on the driver's air bag cover may develop cracks and detach during air bag deployment.
Risk: A detached emblem can become a projectile during air bag deployment, increasing the risk of injury to vehicle occupants.

Brakes
On certain vehicles, the brake pedal pivot pin end was not properly manufactured. As a result, the pin may not remain in place, causing the brake pedal to partially disengage from the brake pedal bracket. If this occurs, the driver will experience unusual and noticeable looseness in the pedal and a reduction in braking force. A reduction in braking force may lead to increased stopping distances and the risk of a crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Owners of all potentially affected vehicles will be contacted and their brake pedal assembly will be inspected and replaced if necessary.

Seats And Restraints
Certain vehicles may have been assembled with faulty seat track assemblies. Specifically, the driver's inboard, and the passenger's outboard seat tracks, may have undersized slots in two locations. This may result in the manual seat pawl not fully engaging in those slots. Should the vehicle be involved in a crash, occupants of front seats with affected seat tracks would be exposed to an increased risk of personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the entire seat assembly.

I bought my van in March of this year (2026) and the fuel gauge will either show that the tank is almost empty (gas light on) or full. Sometimes it will show an accurate gas reading and other times it shows the gas tank is full. I am going to a dealership in the morning to see about getting it fixed under the recall or getting quoted to have it fixed. This is the only vehicle I own and I have to travel with my kids so I cannot ride around with a fuel can inside due to the fumes. I worry about running out of gas with my children in the car.

The contact stated that the vehicle ran out of gasoline with the fuel gauge indicating that there was a quarter tank to a half tank of gasoline inside the fuel tank. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where the contact was informed that the vehicle was under an unstated recall for the fuel leveling unit; however, the part for the repair was on a national backorder. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the part was not only on backorder, but that the part for the repair was discontinued. The vehicle was not repaired. I HAD TO SHUT OFF AND RESTART FOR IT TO RETURN TO NORMAL. ABOUT 15 OR 20 MORE MILES OF DRIVING AND A HALF DOZEN STOPS, IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE I WAS LEAVING A PARKING SPACE. TAKATA RECALL MY VAN HAS LEFT US IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD MULTIPLE TIMES AT LEAST 4. WHEN EVER IT GETS TO A QUARTER TANK OF GAS WE GET WORRIED. IT SAYS WE STILL HAVE FUEL BUT IN FACT IS EMPTY. I SAW ONLINE THAT OUR VAN YEAR HAS A RECALL BUT THIS WEBSITE SHOWS THERE IS NOTHING FOR OUR VAN. IT WORRIES US BECAUSE WE HAVE OUR KIDS IN THE VEHICLE NORMALLY AND THE LAST THING WE NEED IS FOR SOMEONE TO HIT US BECAUSE WE RAN OUT OF GAS. WE HAVE BEEN AT STOP LIGHTS AND IT JUST DIES. WE HAVE BEEN IN MOTION AND IT JUST DIES. MY WIFE WORKED NIGHT SHIFT AND 3 AM SHE WAS TRYING TO COME HOME AND IT WAS NO FUEL IN IT. I PUT THE LAST DATE IT HAPPENED BELOW.
