The torque converter on my 2019 Nissan Titan PRO-4X failed at approximately 60,000 miles. Symptoms began as cold-start shudder lasting several minutes, progressing to pronounced shudder under light throttle acceleration between 25–50 MPH, erratic shifting at the 3-4 and 4-5 gear transitions, and TCC (torque converter clutch) slip. These symptoms created unpredictable drivetrain behavior at highway speeds, presenting a safety risk to myself and other drivers. The problem was diagnosed and confirmed by an independent service center using live PCM data. TCC slip readings of -27/748 RPM were recorded during a test drive, matching the failure criteria specified in Nissan Technical Service Bulletin NTB22-099A, which Nissan issued to address this exact torque converter defect in this model. The repair — torque converter remove and replace using OE parts — is currently underway. The failed component is available for inspection upon request. Warning symptoms (cold-start shudder and light-throttle shudder) were present for approximately one month before the failure became undriveable. Nissan was contacted regarding the known defect and declined to provide assistance, citing warranty expiration. The TSB coverage window for this defect expired approximately eight months before symptoms became acute.

Cylinder 4-5 which caused catastrophic engine failure. CP4 fuel pump. Crank shaft broken, Metal flakes in oil. Differential service. Was on the road from [XXX] to [XXX] and broke down in [XXX]. Just bought the truck from Lakeland Automall on May 8th and broke down on May 31st. Was in a bad spot to pull over and from what I have gathered we were lucky the Truck didn't catch fire. The problem has been confirmed by the Nissan dealership in [XXX] and also by an independent. As of yet it has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police or insurance representatives. My next call will be to my insurance company for inspection. I was hoping I would be able to fix it on my own by to no avail. No warning lamps or messages before. It started making clanking sounds, we pulled over and then that is when the engine light came on. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

My crankshaft broke on the highway. I was travelling at around 70mph. No warnings were given. I lost all power and had to limp it off to the side of the road. The engine was replaced under warranty. This is an ongoing issue for 2016-2019 Nissan Titans. Folks are left with worthless vehicles because they are outside of their warranty period when it happens.

Worst dealership my husband and I ever dealt with. We purchased a 2019 Nissan XD Titan Diesel with warranty. Two days after purchase, the check engine light came on. I called Spencer from the service department to let them know. They took the truck the very next day; it was some issue with the gas tank, so the part was back-ordered. After getting that fixed, the check engine light still never went off. I questioned the dealership; all they could say was it was probably a dirty sensor. Then, not even two weeks later, I was leaving a doctor's appointment on the interstate when it threw up a code for low coolant, saying it was about to go into limp mode. So, I made it to the dealership's service station. They said it was okay and couldn't find anything wrong with it, then told me to just keep driving it until it broke down or delete it if it was them. They said, 'You know, we don't deal with a lot of diesel, so it may need to go to another dealership.' Then, two months went by, and we had more issues. We ended up back at the dealership to find out that it now had an oil leak that was quoted to us as a $14,000 job for parts and labor. We also had extended warranty and powertrain, but Spencer failed to file the warranty claim correctly the first time and filed under the wrong warranty, so they denied it. We had to call management to get them to check why, and the problem was that the service department didn't know how to file the correct warranty claim. After that was submitted, my husband asked Spencer directly and the service department if they did rentals through our warranty. They said they don't give rentals at that dealership. Note that we found out later through our warranty that they did pay, but we weren't given that chance. After picking up the vehicle, the check engine light was still on !!! there’s so much more details to the story!!!!!

I am submitting this complaint on behalf of the vehicle owner. On March 31, 2025 (136,962 miles), the vehicle was brought to Fred Anderson Nissan of [XXX] for Voluntary Emission Recall PD128 (NTB24-061), which required a new Particulate Matter Sensor and ECM reprogramming. One day later, the Check Engine Light illuminated. On April 2, 2025 (137,083 miles), the dealer diagnosed code P2002-00 (DPF Efficiency Below Specs). Repair Order #XXX states: "The new sensor that is now monitoring DPF is able to see this and is setting the code as designed." The dealer's own documentation confirms the fault code was triggered by the recall — not a pre-existing failure. The vehicle had no warning lights before the recall was performed. Nissan Consumer Affairs (Case #XXX) declined goodwill assistance citing mileage, without addressing the documented causal link between the recall and the fault code. The owner now faces a DPF replacement costing several thousand dollars as a direct result of complying with a manufacturer recall. Safety concern: A DPF in confirmed fault condition can trigger unexpected limp mode, including at highway speeds. If other PD128 recipients are experiencing the same recall-induced fault and cannot absorb the repair cost, those vehicles may be operating in a compromised condition. We request NHTSA investigate whether Recall PD128 is creating safety and repair liability for consumers who complied in good faith. The engine just shut off. I was in traffic moving up to a light and the vehicle just shut down. The second time when I was exiting the freeway got to the yield sign and the vehicle just shut down. The third time was turning left and the vehicle just shut down. the fourth time I was in traffic that was coming to a stop and the vehicle shut down. 5th time I was turning slow rate and the vehicle shut off. 6th and 7th time were in stop and go traffic as it was decelerating. The 8th time coming up to a stop sign and the vehicle shut off. I took the vehicle to Nissan 2 different locations and since there are no codes they can't duplicate the error. My fear is what happens if this shuts down at speed. There was no warning, no rough idle or anything significant. The vehicle has been looked at two different Nissan Dealership without being able to confirm or reproduce the problem. The worst factor is the fear my wife has about the vehicle just shutting off.

ENGINE

The contact owns a 2018 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that while refueling, there was an engine run-on after the vehicle was turned off. The contact determined there was a vapor lock issue and that air was entering the fuel system. The vehicle was difficult to start. There was an abnormal clicking sound coming from the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. Upon research, the contact determined that the failure was like TSB: NTB19-049. The contact used a scanner and determined the failure was related to the fuel pump module. The local dealer was contacted and confirmed that parts were on back order. The contact called another local dealer, Victory Nissan Parts Center (307 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37211); who confirmed that parts were backordered for approximately 6 to 8 months. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.

I had a check engine light for catalytic converter bank 1. Added a cleaner to see if that would help - instructions mention run 1 - 2 tanks of gas after adding, so I did that, it took a while since I dont use the truck as often. The light did not clear so I was planning on bringing it in. I was on the highway and the check engine light starting flashing and power loss occurred. I limped off the highway and got it towed. It had 3 codes on check engine light. Other than the check engine light, no warnings, messages, nor symptoms appeared or occurred prior to the flashing check engine light. Got to Mastria Nissan, they looked at it for not long (morning) and said the engine and other components were junk. Presented a $27,000 bill. They did not tear it down nor illustrate what went wrong. Police nor insurance inspected the truck. Safety was compromised as it died on the highway where everyone was doing 70 plus. Had to limp off the highway as the pull off area was very busy and not spacious whatsoever. Truck has 28,000 miles on it and was planning on the 6th oil change. The first 2 were done at Nissan and I changed the oil myself other times. Drained oil had an appropriate volume. No oil has ever leaked. I have order history on oil and have the last oil change oil in my garage still. I filed a claim with Nissan corporate, I have emails with them, but i got a denial over phone on January 5th. They claimed they dont have enough service history and im 6 months out of warranty. Also, on the call, they refused to send the denial by email or regular mail.

ENGINE

Imminent catastrophic engine failure on 2018 Nissan Titan. The engine has developed severe cylinder wall scuffing and loss of compression (150psi vs 264psi spec) on multiple cylinders. This defect can cause loss of power and potential stalling at highway speeds, presenting a safety risk. The failure matches Nissan TSB NTB19-057 (knock/scuffing). Despite a perfect maintenance history, Nissan is denying warranty coverage by claiming there was no oil change service record because the maintenance was not done at a Nissan dealership. The local Nissan dealership confirmed the issue matches the TSB and an independent inspection confirmed the defect is mechanical (piston/cylinder clearance).

2023 Nissan Titan at 124,000 miles Berkeley Springs, WV Crash 1 injured

ENGINE

The contact owned a 2023 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that while driving in stop-and-go traffic, the contact allowed a vehicle to make a left-hand turn. When the contact depressed the accelerator pedal, the vehicle accelerated independently and rear-ended the vehicle in front, where it came to a stop. The vehicle the contact rear-ended was pushed into the vehicle in front, and that vehicle was pushed into the vehicle in front of it. No warning lights were illuminated. The driver-side air bag deployed; however, the steering wheel cover popped out, and the air bag did not inflate, falling onto the contact's lap. The knee air bag did not inflate, and the passenger-side air bags did not deploy. The contact suffered minor injuries to the neck, possibly whiplash. The contact had a prior medical condition related to his back. A police report was filed. There were no passengers in the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The insurance company was contacted and deemed the vehicle a total loss. The insurance company referred that contact to the manufacturer. However, Nissan consumer affairs contacted the dealer and ordered that the vehicle not be inspected. The vehicle remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact stated that three weeks before the accident, while driving 20 MPH uphill, the vehicle jerked. Once the vehicle made it up the hill, the vehicle resumed functioning as intended. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that six months before the incidents occurred, the contact clipped a crossing deer, and the check engine light illuminated and was still illuminated up to the accident. The failure mileage was approximately 124,000.

I live in [XXX] . Went on vacation to visit our son outside of Nashville Tennessee. Vehicle had approximately 80,000 miles at the time. While driving in traffic and sitting still at lights and odor was coming in the cab. When I got home, I called the dealer about Catalytic converter failure possibly they told me that it was not covered that I should take it to a reputable exhaust repair shop. I took it to Callahan’s auto repair in Pontiac Michigan. They put it on the Hoist and came and told me it had a cracked exhaust manifold which the catalytic converter was attached to and that’s where the odor was coming from. When I purchased the vehicle, I have a lifetime drive caring warranty from infinity through the dealership. I called the dealership and talked to Service and they told me to bring it in while waiting for an appointment. I was due for an oil change and canceled it and looked on Google For problems with the 2017 V8 engine and found a nine page technical service report on the failure of that particular line of engine, I was never notified at any time that my engine was subject to failure, and it had been to the dealership within the last 30 days to have a new transmission pan put underneath the vehicle which Nissan paid 60% of on their own and I paid 40. Upon taking it to the dealership and leaving it, I have to pay $181 for them to analyze the problem they have verbally told me on the phone That my truck needs a new engine because there’s a lifetime warranty on the drivetrain. I don’t feel this problem should be covered under that this is a problem Nissan should put a brand new engine in my vehicle. I would like a response to this. My email is [XXX] . My telephone number is [XXX] . INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I heard an audible rattling sound at certain RPMs primarily underload. Upon looking under the vehicle found the issue was the result of the exhaust hangars not being torqued properly and coming loose.
