FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

ABS light keeps coming on and off. The 4WD keeps going on and off and the cruise control and traction keeps working then not working. There is a recall for other year models for the ABS system that basically is exactly what’s happening with my truck. I am worried that it will go out and my truck will stop and cause and accident which almost happened today. This should be a recall alongside those other year models.

LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION

Vehicle experiences intermittent but repeatable safety-related electrical failures affecting turn signals and blind spot monitoring. The left turn signal remains engaged after canceling and does not shut off unless the opposite turn signal is activated, causing incorrect signaling to other drivers. This occurs without driver input. At the same time, the Blind Spot Monitoring system intermittently displays a “Blind Spot System Unavailable” warning and disables the safety feature while driving, increasing the risk of unsafe lane changes. Vehicle was inspected and diagnosed by an authorized Ram/Stellantis dealer. Dealer verified the concern and documented fault code B2225-00 – Steering Column Module Internal Failure, confirming the steering column control module is malfunctioning internally and not posting correct left/right turn signal inputs. Wiring, grounds, power, and CAN bus communication were inspected and ruled out. Dealer also documented fault code B285F-15 – Blind Spot Warning Light Control Circuit Short to Battery/Open, tracing the blind spot failure to a shorted passenger-side mirror harness, confirmed through load testing and a wiggle test. No aftermarket electrical modifications are present. These failures affect federally required signaling and driver-assist safety systems and occur intermittently, making them unpredictable and hazardous. Vehicle has approximately 48,877 miles and is a 2020 Ram 1500. Concern is ongoing and unresolved without replacement of safety-critical components.

I am submitting a report regarding the hacking of my vehicle that has persisted over the past five years. I have previously stated that my scammer, [XXX] , along with her associates, continues to remotely manipulate the gear of my vehicle while I am driving. Furthermore, they are targeting the lighting and dome lights in my vehicle in an attempt to jeopardize my safety. Additionally, the manufacturer experienced a data breach in September 2025. FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS

While I was driving my vehicle, the power steering warning came on and moments later the steering wheel locked - I could not steer my vehicle. I stopped the vehicle and it started firing all sorts of warnings. It was like all systems went haywire. Service shifter, service power steering, service electronic stability control, acc/fcw unavailable, service required, service airbag system, collision control, check engine, anti-lock breaks. The windshield wipers started without being tuned on, the engine revved up an got very loud like an airplane engine. I turned off the vehicle. When the tow truck arrived, the truck would not start so he walked away to grab the pulley and the truck started on it's own. My biggest concern is that I lost the ability to steer while I was in motion. I was informed of a VB8 recall for power steering but told my vehicle didn't qualify. This is a serious concern! It is currently with the dealership.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

My truck was taken to the ram dealership in Conway, AR and they told me it needed an ABS Module and it was ordered and that was in January of 2025 so it has now been almost a year that the part (ABS Module) has been on back order and there is still no ETA. That is a serious issue and my truck that I have still been paying on is not fit to drive safely and hasn’t been since. Something needs to be done about that and time is very much of the essence!

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

ABS module/hcu failure Jan 13, 2025. No indication of problem prior to failure. When failure occurred, vehicle was traveling around curve in road at 50 mph when all warning lights on dash lit, loss of power steering, engine shutdown, loss of power brakes. Vehicle had to be towed home then to dealer (Davis Moore Ram Wichita Ks). Dealer diagnosed as ABS module with possible HCU failure. Told by dealer no parts available for repair, I confirmed with on-line search with other dealers. ABS Module Part # 68728132AA is not being made available to any dealers (backordered) for the repair. FCA is calling it under review, has been years for many people who still have no fix. Dealer had me prepay for part.

Vehicle randomly says "shift to park" after making soft turns like going in a uturn under a bypass . Once the speed drops under 5mph, the truck then puts vehicle in park, and turns off. Dealership could not find the problem. Mechanics are unsure. Ongoing for 3 years. Very unsafe.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS

Driving in moderate traffic, truck forward collision warning triggered and emergency braking engaged with no forward risk of collision. Traffic in front was accelerating, not decelerating and no risk of emergency collision existed. Incident did however nearly lead to collision from behind as brakes were slammed on fully to an emergency stop. Wife and I were both in the car and neither of us saw any reason whatsoever for the event to be triggered.

The BSM service notice triggered a shut down of all controls associated with front windows and climate control. The UConnect system shuts down completely and the climate system defaults to defrost with fans going to max and the heat turned up to Maximum temp. With front windows control disabled you are unable to lower or raise windows and with Uconnect shut off there is no way to turn off the heat. This takes place while driving. You are literally cooking inside the vehicle The BSM service light came on to indicate service needed on a sensor located in the tail light assembly. That notification triggered the electrical malfunctions of the other systems. After sitting for 12 hours the truck systems would reset. As soon as I started driving the same sequence of events would take place again. I repeated this every day for 4 days while waiting to turn this into a dealer for investigation and repair.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS

Driving 60 mph down the highway in North Dallas, no vehicles around me in close proximity, went under an overpass, the truck braked severely, no skid but a very abrupt slowing to 10-15 mph, if anyone was behind us, it would have caused a major wreck. Pulled over and turned off the front collision warning system until I could get it reported. The message it flashed on the dash was unknown object encountered. I have not taken it back to the dealer. No police were called because there was no accident, just very scary.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS

I have taken my vehicle to Ram dealer letting them know the Forward Collison Warning (i.e. 'BRAKE' to show in display and brake if I don't) is not working. Both time they said it was working and basically showed me the front sensors setting. I have tried to test this on the road and almost rear ended three cars: 1) speeding up when car in front is at a traffic light, 2) accelerating to 65 mph coming up on a slower car, 3) coming around a curve on a two lane highway with car coming in opposite direction. No warnings at all. My Honda Pilot shows the warnings in each of these cases. So I went back to the dearler and explained that on the Ram forum, https://www.ramforum.com/threads/anyone-else-with-a-fcw-forward-collision-warning-problem.142051/page-3#post-2623613, other drivers have noticed same thing. My RAM is a 2020. I saw where someone with a 2019 has same problem. Also showed the dealer the youtube video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SE3irp18ts, so they knew what I was talking about. They told me they don't have any way to test FC. I told them I didn't understand how the FCS is not working when the ACC is working perfectly. This was noted as well in the Ram forum. This needs to be fix immediately if it was discovered on 2019 vehicles: 1) before someone is badly injured because the FCS doesn't work, and 2) I paid for this safety feature and should have it.
