3 times to date (10,000 miles/8 months) I have failing abs speed sensors. If I stop moving when all lights come on dash the truck is in operational. I cannot shift gears, put in park or turn engine off. Loose traction control, ads, 4wd, stabiltrac, speedometer. All assitive and braking functions. Code U1412. Dealer replaces speed sensors but problem returns.
NHTSA complaint #11745409 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
I am the owner of a 2018 Ram 3500 subject to Recall C4B (NHTSA Recall No. 24V-896) involving the Brake Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). The recall was announced on November 27, 2024. As of June 2026, NHTSA’s website still states that the recall is incomplete and that a remedy is not yet available for my vehicle. The defect causes active symptoms during operation. The vehicle continuously chimes while driving, similar to a seatbelt warning, and cruise control is disabled. These symptoms substantially interfere with normal operation, especially during long trips and towing. I have contacted authorized Ram dealerships and Ram Customer Care multiple times. Dealerships state that no remedy is available and refer me to Ram Customer Care. Ram Customer Care confirms that no remedy is available and provides no repair timeline or meaningful resolution. Most concerning, neither the dealerships nor Ram Customer Care will initiate a repair attempt because no repair procedure or parts exist. Owners are therefore unable to obtain repairs or even establish documented repair attempts despite the existence of an active safety recall. I was also advised that I could rent a vehicle at my own expense and potentially seek reimbursement if approved. Given that this recall has been open for more than 18 months with no available remedy or repair timeline, expecting owners to personally fund rental costs for an unknown period with only the possibility of reimbursement is unrealistic and inadequate. This open safety recall has negatively impacted the vehicle’s usability, resale value, and trade-in value while preventing owners from obtaining a repair. Stellantis acknowledges the safety defect, yet no practical remedy or alternative solution is available. I respectfully request that NHTSA review the continued lack of an available remedy, the extended delay in repairs, and the absence of a meaningful process for affected owners to obtain relief.
NHTSA complaint #11743637 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
There is still no remedy to this recall and my truck is affected - I have been driving with NO ABS AND NO TRACTION CONTROL for almost 4 YEARS. This has also deactivated my cruise control. This is unacceptable and compromises me and my families safety. This is not a question of if it is going to happen, but when. My vehicle isn't under the category of "may be susceptible to failure" it has failed and I have permanently lost those BASIC and CRITICAL safety features. It is simply a matter of WHEN the lack of those features will cause an accident. There must be something done. . I have spoken with Mopar and several dealerships and nobody has given me any solution other than to say they will call me when a remedy is available. That is NOT ENOUGH. Recall language for C4B "The brake hydraulic control unit (HCU) on your vehicle [1] may be susceptible to failure or malfunction which may result in a reduction or change of Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) /Electronic Stability Control (ESC) /Traction Control performance. A failing HCU will initially result in the intermittent loss of ABS/ESC/Traction control progressing to permanent loss. The loss of ABS/ESC/Traction control may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. "

I am getting an error concerning the antilock brakes on my truck. This error is random shows up every few days. When it does show up it dings every thirty seconds and does not stop, which is very distracting. Also shuts off the cruise control. It took a copy of the recall to my local dodge dealer and they will not fix it.
NHTSA complaint #11736971 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
Vehicle sends cluster warnings about Auto Emergency Braking unavailable/inoperable, Electronic Stability Control needs service, Antilock Brake System needs service, Parksense Unavailable, and ultimately the Check Engine indicator illuminates after restarting the vehicle. An error code also is present in the computer, U1412. This has happened twice now in a two week period. These systems are critical to safe operation of he vehicle, especially in emergency braking conditions, and could affect both the operator and the general public if they indeed failed. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, yet, and is scheduled for 5/8/2026
NHTSA complaint #11736214 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
While driving with a trailer after leaving a jobsite in [XXX] , the vehicle experienced a sudden electrical failure while in motion. The instrument cluster/speedometer screen went completely black and the vehicle lights stopped functioning properly while driving at night. During the incident, we lost the speedometer display and visibility from the vehicle lighting system, creating a serious safety hazard while towing a trailer on public roads. Because of the electrical failure, we were forced to pull off on the side of the road to avoid a potentially dangerous situation. After shutting the truck down and waiting approximately one hour, the vehicle was restarted and the systems eventually began functioning again. This vehicle is used regularly for commercial towing and jobsite operations. A sudden loss of instrument display, lighting systems, and electrical functionality while towing creates a major safety concern for both the occupants of the vehicle and surrounding traffic. The failure appeared intermittent because the vehicle resumed operation after sitting for a period of time. However, the incident involved complete loss of critical vehicle display and lighting systems while driving. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. RAM recall dates December 2024 on ABS failure. Received letter a long time ago. However, RAM still says parts are unavailable and it's been 18 months. This is ridiculous. Failure includes Cruise Control turned off. Audible sounds and warning lights on Dash.
NHTSA complaint #11735562 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
It has been 3 years of our ABS failing due to a Brake HCU not being replaced. Now the engine light comes on due to issues with the Electronic Braking System. We cannot use this to travel due to the cruise control going out as soon as the ABS light goes on which is every 5 minutes. Why is this allowed to be on recall but ‘ no fix has been determined’?!!!! We need answers.

This is related to the 2025/2026 Ram 3500 U1412 code relating to anti lock brake system. On this date I got an ABS warning light and check engine light. The vehicle would not turn off, was not sure if it was in gear or not, and multiple other lights came on the dash. Vehicle towed to dealership. They said they could not reproduce the error and that all the codes disappeared due to the batteries dying overnight. They replaced both batteries and returned vehicle. Have since had same problem twice more with one requiring towing again. If this problem happens on roadway while being operated it would be very dangerous on roadway.
NHTSA complaint #11732293 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
Second incident relating to U1412 code where ABS related warning lights coming on. On 1/19/26 it had the same issue but was towed due to undriveable and would turn off. This time I drove straight to Dodge dealership where they got the codes, unlike last time due to batteries dead. Ram performed two flash updates and felt issue was fixed. Car is currently at dealership for third incident of same nature and had to be towed exactly same as first time on 1/19/26. Towed in on 4/16/2026. Three times when new truck less than 6 months old and 10k miles. Unsafe as mentioned on other report.
NHTSA complaint #11732296 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
Vehicle at dealership a third time for same issue relating to U1412 code associated with ABS system. First time it was towed on 1/19/2026 and second time I took it to the dealership before it required towing on 3/26/2026. This time the truck required towing again after not being able to go into gear or being able to turn it off. Multiple warning lights on the dash. Still waiting for diagnosis but service department knew this problem from other vehicles and said manufacturer isn’t sure of cause.

The contact owns a 2018 Ram 3500. The contact stated that the ABS and electronic brake fault light and message randomly activated with a beeping sound. Additionally, the cruise control was inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, and the contact was informed about NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); and stated that parts were on back order. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that the part was not yet available and informed the contact that if the vehicle was repaired out of pocket, reimbursement could be sought. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

While driving on interstate 20 and then on I65 my cruise control dropped off causing the vehicle to sudden decrease in speed. Rear end collision narrow avoided due to commercial vehicles, following, quick action saved a disaster. This loss of cruise control, is/was caused by the warning ⚠️ of recall C4B/NHTSA 24V-896. We are now experiencing a total loss of safety (service electronic brake system, service abs system, loss of traction control, {loss of cruise control}). These safety functions are now making this, one ton, dually, a death trap, mental health problem (I have PTSD, depression, anger management, anxiety problems) . My wife is afraid of this vehicle, WILL NOT let me pull our 42 foot, 15,000 pound, Redwood 38GK 5th wheel RV. Should your investigation be done, this is the 3rd recall/repair on this system. Will this dangerous vehicle be the next cause or a deadly pile up, will children be the the innocent victims? This recall and the other ever be fixed? The value has dropped , now by $25k to $35,000 on truck with 45,000 miles. Appreciate your time, [XXX] . Every month I am receiving a check engine light for abs / traction control / failure. Dealer states HPU unit is bad, however I noticed all the fuses in the fuse box were loose. I pushed them in to reseat and the error cleared. This happens monthly. This last time happened during a snow storm and disabled abs.

There is an open recall (C4B) for my Ram truck. The ABS light and "Service Brake System" light and message are currently displayed on the truck's dash. I contacted FCA about a year ago and told them I have an active issue. They said they placed me on a priority wait list but the remedy is not available yet. It is unacceptable for them to not have a remedy ready for an 8 year old truck when the issue was known about some time ago. I would appreciate if NHTSA or other government agencies would put pressure on FCA to repair this issue as owner's and other motorists lives are on the line if faulty equipment is forced to drive on public roadways. Thank you

It has been over 1year now and chrysler still doesn't have a fix for the anti lock brake system. How long can this go on? the truck keeps kicking out the cruise control and the traction controls. I have been contacting the dealers but there isn't a fix WTF!

Bad wheel speed sensor which disables ABS, cruise control, and all the ADAS systems. Vehicle has been to dealer 5 times for this in less than 8 months. Stellantis takes over a month to replace the part. Vehicle also will not shut off and/or be able to move while this happens.

Since January 2023, my truck stability control system has been disabled related to CB4 NHTSA 24V-896 recall. TWO years! I can't sell the truck like this & I have no idea when it will result in an accident. Stellantis needs to be held accountable. Every contact with them results in a response of waiting for parts. I've had no choice but to drive another 18000 dangrous miles with this vehicle. This is unacceptable.
