Recalls on the 2025 Toyota Camry Hybrid

A complaint is one owner's allegation. A recall is the point at which the manufacturer or a regulator agreed the defect is real and dangerous enough to fix for free — however old the car is.

Canada — Transport Canada

Canada runs its own recall programme, and its campaigns do not always mirror the American ones.

Recall 2025693 2,411 units in Canada

High Voltage

Issue: On certain vehicles, a bolt in the inverter assembly for the hybrid system may not have been tightened properly. As a result, the vehicle could enter a reduced power mode or lose power to the wheels. Additionally, if the bolt becomes loose in the inverter assembly and the ignition is on, it could cause a short circuit. Safety Risk: A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. A short circuit can create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: Toyota will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the hybrid inverter assembly bolt. The dealer will tighten the bolt or, if necessary, replace the inverter assembly.

Recall 2025050 1,358 units in Canada

Seats And Restraints

Issue: On certain vehicles, the second-row center seat belt may have been damaged during production. As a result, the seat belt could break in a crash. If this happens, the seat belt may not hold a person in place during the crash. Safety Risk: A seat belt that doesn't work properly could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, the company advises that you shouldn't transport a passenger in the second-row center seat until the recall repairs are completed. The company will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the second-row center seat belt assembly.

TIRES

The contact owns a 2025 Toyota Camry equipped with Bridgestone Puranza EL440tires (Tire Size: 235/45R/18). While driving approximately 75 MPH, the rear driver's side tire suddenly, the Tire Sensor illuminated. The contact was attempting to get to the nearest exit to pull over, but before being able to do so, the tire blew. When the failure occurred, it caused the rear bumper to detach from the vehicle. The contact moved to the emergency lane, where they noticed the tire had disintegrated. The tire was replaced with a spare tire and driven to their home. The contact stated their niece, who was a passenger in the vehicle at the time, had suffered a panic attack, at the time which caused their nose to bleed and necessitated medical attention. The next day, the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who confirmed it was a known issue with the tires and the tire was replaced. The bumper was reattached. The manufacturer was not informed. The failure mileage was approximately 29,000.

I hear cracking, flexing and popping coming from the frame/glass from my panoramic sunroof. I am worried for my safety that my roof is going to blow off or collapse when I'm driving. My vehicle was have been at the dealership for atleast 26 full days and many other trips to the dealership. I first brought. I first brought up the rattling on XXX and again on XXX they had it all day that day. I redropped it off XXX and smart toyota had it until XXX. I brought the car to the dealership many times after that. Dropped off my car at smart toyota on XXX and toyota had it until XXX. Every time toyota had my vehicle, they told me, they could not hear the sound or replicate it even though it does it very frequently. On XXX i stopped at the dealership because it was making the sound and had them go on a test drive with me. On the test drive, I drove with two other people from smart toyota, onto [XXX], i took her right onto veterans memorial, and at the roundabout, I took a left, and then I took her right out, the casino and back on to the veterans, and then I turned back onto [XXX]. On our way back to the dealership, I pulled into the parking lot of the davenport public library, where I heard the sound very apparent earlier that day. As soon as I pulled into the parking lot, it made it, so I just kept turning in. And out of each lane so they could continue hearing it. I went back to the dealership I was told I'd be contacted within the week, it ended up being 3weeks. And I had to stop in because nobody answered my phone calls. I had an arbitration hearing on XXX. Toyota fabricated a story and said that the only time it made the sound was when I went over rumble Strips, and saying i went over a curb. I did not go over a curb. TIRES

2025 Camry was dealer serviced at recommended internals. At the 24,000 mile service vehicle there was a "hum" from the front of the vehicle, and returned to the dealership. They confirmed the tires that had been on the back were moved to the front during the regular rotation and confirmed "consistent cupping on all 4" tires. The dealer informed us that all 4 Hankook Model Kinergy required replacement. The dealer would not provide a firm cause response. I asked for the alignment check and they confirmed it "was in spec at each visit and provided the report. The dealer inspects alignment and pressure at each visit and there were no findings of out of range. There is no warranty offered to the consumer on OEM tires, and the dealer provided an estimate for replacement in between $925 (same model which will absolutely not happen) and $1,250 for an alternate brand. In researching this issue, there are numerous reports of Hankook Kinergy GT tires OEM mounted and serviced failing between 5,000 and 24,000 miles, well below the warranty period. The arrangement between Toyota and Hankook does not support "tread wear" warranty and the only avenue for the consumer is full out of pocket replacement. When this information was passed along to the dealer, they asked for additional information and have agreed to "work with me" on cost of replacement and have requested a return visit to photograph the vehicle to submit a warranty claim. A Simple web search identifies a high instance of issues with this tire including a at least one safety recall due "tread separation potential". After presenting the dealer with the complaints filed and background, they have agreed to submit a warranty claim with Hankook but advised this will not likely provide relief. Regardless, these tires have documented failures in as little as 5,000 miles. And cupping/wear on all four wheels before the 4th service interval. Someone is going to be injured or worse. This needs a review!

When I drove my car earlier the car audio was maximum because I was listening to something quiet. Later that day I went to start a video that was much much louder. Cars should not start with the audio at maximum volume, this is a real safety hazard.

NHTSA complaint #11752453 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.

Indio, CA

STRUCTURE:BODY

I purchased this vehicle on March 14, 2026. On June 2, 2026, I reported to the dealership that the front bumper cover was beginning to separate from the vehicle near the headlights. The bumper appears to be inadequately supported because the plastic mounting brackets beneath the headlights do not provide sufficient structural support for the weight of the bumper cover. The dealership acknowledged the issue and sent my vehicle to its collision repair facility on June 23, 2026. I received the vehicle back on June 25, 2026 after repairs were completed. Unfortunately, the repair was only temporary. By July 20, 2026, the bumper had once again begun separating from the vehicle in the same location. I live in an extremely hot climate where summer temperatures regularly exceed 100°F. It appears that the plastic brackets become soft or deform from the heat, causing them to lose their ability to securely retain the bumper cover. This raises concerns that the design and materials used are not appropriate for normal operating conditions in many parts of the United States. Based on my research, this is not an isolated incident. Numerous other 2025 Toyota Camry owners have reported the same problem involving front bumper separation at the headlight mounting points. Despite the widespread nature of this apparent defect, Toyota has not issued a safety recall or provided a permanent repair. I am concerned that continued separation of the front bumper could create a safety hazard if the bumper becomes detached while driving, potentially creating road debris or increasing the risk of a crash. Consumers should not be required to repeatedly repair a component that appears to suffer from a design defect. I respectfully request that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigate this issue and determine whether the front bumper mounting system on the 2025 Toyota Camry constitutes a safety-related defect warranting a recall or other corrective action.

STRUCTURE:BODY:BUMPERS

Issue #1: When driving the vehicle, the center display will stop working, audio and other functions remain working, however there is no display, including when the vehicle is in reverse, resulting in a loss of visibility when backing due to the camera not being displayed, this presents a safety issue as a safety feature (the reverse camera) is not working. When the vehicle was taken in to the dealer under warranty, the dealer stated if the unit was replaced that the issue would “just happen again” and the only solution offered was to wait for a software update. A case has been opened with Toyota on this matter and they are unable to provide an ETA on when an update will be available, and are refusing to replace the display under warranty. Issue #2: The front bumper is pulling away from the headlight assembly on the driver side, this issue was addressed with 2 Toyota dealers, hey stated the clips under the headlight have broken causing the bumper to separate, claiming it was due to an “outside element” as the hood has been repainted and doesn’t match the bumper paint due to a scratch on the hood, when this was explained, they then changed their story stating there was a repair to the bumper, which is also incorrect as I have owned the vehicle since it was new, they then changed their explanation again stating there was damage under the front of the vehicle which is also incorrect, the vehicle has never been in an accident and has no damage other than rock chips that have been corrected with touch up paint to prevent rust. This causes a safety issue as the bumper is no longer secure in all areas, which they are also refusing to cover under warranty.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA

Issue #1: When driving the vehicle, the center display will stop working, audio and other functions remain working, however there is no display, including when the vehicle is in reverse, resulting in a loss of visibility when backing due to the camera not being displayed, this presents a safety issue as a safety feature (the reverse camera) is not working. When the vehicle was taken in to the dealer under warranty, the dealer stated if the unit was replaced that the issue would “just happen again” and the only solution offered was to wait for a software update. The front bumper under the drivers side headlight is detaching from the car. I brought the car to the dealership, they looked at it, said they pushed the bumper back in but i needed to make an appt. When i came back for the second appt, I was immediately turned away. They stated it was body work and they didn't do that type of work. I was sent to Bob Maloney Collision. There they took the bumper off, found no damage, put the bumper back on, calibrated the car. Before even leaving their parking lot, the bumper had detached again. I brought the car back a second time a little over a week later. They again took the bumper off, put it back on again. The first trip on the interstate and the bumper detached again. The car has not been in any accidents and there's no signs of curb damage or anything like that. This poses a safety risk due to the bumper being lose. At interstate speeds, the bumper clearly detaches. It could detach completely with the perfect gust of wind causing me to lose control and/or hitting other vehicles. A quick google search will show that there are multiple other incidents of this occurring. It is a known issue, though most report the actual fix as replacing the headlight assembly/bumper since the headlight is not in the correct position allowing the bumper to fully hook onto. The car is still under warranty but Toyota is giving me the run around. I opened a corporate case for reimbursement after no damage was found. When i went back to the dealership with this information and to attempt to get them to repair under warranty again, they were still trying to deflect and acting like they didn't want to fix it. I have an appt for tomorrow when the manager is there again. This will be the 5th time I've had it at either the dealership or the body shop for repairs in barely over a month and it still isn't fixed.

I wanted to share my recent experience with Toyota regarding my brand-new Camry. The front bumper on my new vehicle is coming loose. After speaking with my dealership and Toyota corporate, I was informed that this is a known issue affecting some Camrys. I was also told similar concerns have been seen on other Toyota 4Runners (this came from a Toyota service advisor, "The 4Runners are even worse!"). What surprised me most was Toyota's position. Although the issue is known, Toyota currently has no authorized repair available for dealerships to perform under warranty. The recommendation was essentially to wait until Toyota develops an official remedy or issues a recall and they were closing my case for now; this is when the Toyota representative was getting defensive. As a customer, that's difficult to accept. I purchased a new vehicle expecting defects like a loose bumper to be corrected under warranty, not postponed indefinitely. I'm sharing this experience because other owners may be experiencing the same issue.
