I have requested urgent warranty evaluation regarding two Kumho Solus TA51a tires installed on my Toyota Sienna (Model: Kumho Solus TA51a, Size: 235/60R17 102H, DOT: 1824) Both front tires are exhibiting abnormal tread chunking and visible surface shredding. The tires are relatively new (purchased about 1-1.5 years ago) and have not been heavily used (only riding this car occassionally, about 5000-7000 miles per year). Our 2 rear tires are Kumho tires of different model, and although older, they are performing fine and do not experience these issues so it seems to be an issue on this particular Solus TA 51a model Kumho tires. Because this is our family vehicle and we transport our children in it regularly, we are very concerned about the safety of continuing to drive on these tires. I also returned to the tire shop that sold and installed the tires. After inspecting them, the owner advised me to contact Kumho for a warranty evaluation, informing me that he received similar complaints from other customers (especially Toyota Sienna owners) using this tire model. While I no longer have the original purchase receipt, the dealer can verify that the tires were purchased from and installed by his shop. I reached out to Kumho Tires USA by completing their online contact form 2 wks ago, which informed a response within 48 hours, but I have not received any response. I called and left a voice message in their warranty department, and in their general customer service line earlier this week, but still not response. I even completed another contact form and also reached out by email, but still no response. Then I remembered my mom recently sharing a concern about her tires, and just found out that she had same 'chunking' issues on her tires, which happened to be the same Kumho Solus TA51a tires from the same tire shop. Her car is Toyota Camry, not a Sienna, so this is happening on this specific tire model across all types of cars they are installed to. Please help!

The contact stated while driving 35 MPH during a trip, the steering wheel started shuddering. The vehicle was taken to a tire shop, and the contact was informed that the two front tires had sustained tread belt separation and bulges. The two front tires were replaced. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 65-70 MPH, the TPMS warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the tire shop, and the contact was informed that the rear passenger's side tire had sustained tread belt separation, and the metallic belt was poking through the rubber. The contact requested that the rear tires be replaced as a precautionary measure. The rear tires were replaced. All four tires were replacement tires. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle failure mileage was 173,414. The tire failure mileage was approximately 16,022. The VIN was not available.

The vehicle was taken to C&C Auto, where the door motor and belt were replaced, and other unknown repairs were performed. The door was repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that the rear passenger's side sliding door had failed to open and close as needed. The contact stated that the door was currently closed and would not open. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the vehicle could not be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V858000 (Structure); because the VIN was not included in the recall. Additionally, the contact stated that the TPMS had failed to function as needed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. Costco installed 4 tires on my 2012 Toyota Sienna on 11/10/2021. The tire had 80,000 mile warranty. At the time of Tire installation, the mileage on my vehicle was 253,405. I did my tire rotations every 5000 mile at Suburban Toyota in Farmington Hills. I took the vehicle for tire rotation at 283,618 miles and the dealership refused to rotate the tires because the tread was below 3/32 seconds. I thought that this was a mistake and went again to rotate the tires at 288,789 miles. I went to Costco on the same day and told Costco representative at the counter [XXX] that the tire needs to replaced under warranty. I informed him that I drove only 30,000 mile on the tires. He checked all my mileage papers when I did the tire rotations. He went inside and talked to [XXX] (Tire section manager) and told me that the tire need to be under 2/32 seconds for Michelin Warranty to work. I asked him to arrange a tire rotation and scheduled the tire rotation on 12/20/2022. I took the vehicle to Costco on 12/20/2022. The mechanic called me after 30 minutes and informed me that the tire tread is under 2/32 second and cannot be rotated. I talked to [XXX] about it and he went to talk to [XXX]. He told me that the mechanic is going to rotate the tires and I can come back after one month to check the tires again. I informed [XXX] that he, Costco, and Michelin are playing with the safety of my family. He told me that Costco is not concerned about the safety of my family. If I am concerned about the safety of my family, I should change the tires without the warranty. I believe that Costco and Michelin are installing 30,000 mile tires as 80,000 mile warranty tires. I drive most of my driving on the freeway and on cruise control. So there should not be any issue with my driving. I got tires from Discount Tire Company before and had no issue like this. This tire separated at the side wall nearest the rim. The last one separated and swelled roughly the size of a ping pong ball, prior to that the same thing. This is the 3rd Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season tire to fail. After this last one, I realized it's got to be something with the construction of the tire so I googled and found recalls for other Pireeli tire models. I contacted the mfr and they refused to assist. Spoke with very rude individual at Pirelli USA in Rome, GA location who stated 'if I am concerned about the safety of the tire, report it to the NHTSA' and that in order to obtain a replacement I would have to contact the retailer to initiate a return. As instructed, I spoke with the retailer Simple Tire (Trevose, PA), an individual named Shailesh. I was told since there is no NHTSA recall therefore there is no replacement.

We recently had two Dunlop P 235 / 50 R 19 tires fail on our car. On 11/5/21, the front passenger-side tire tread and belt began to unravel while driving at freeway speed. This happened suddenly, with no warning lights, and we became aware of the problem when we heard a loud thumping noise from the unraveled tire striking the underside of the vehicle. We immediately exited the freeway, found a tire shop, and had the tire replaced. The following week, I inspected the other tires and found that the front drive-side tire was failing in exactly the same way. We immediately had that one replaced too. Neither tire shop that replaced the tires could identify a cause of the tire failures other than possible defects in the tires.

Randall RD Elgin IL , after I purchase the tires TPMS- indicator dash light kept coming on i was going back to Discount tire almost 3x a week as of today date I'm losing 25% air pressure in all 4 tires Discount tire keep just putting air in and giving me the runaround about these tire's trying to get myself to buy $$$$ more of other things telling me it will help the tire's but before i purchase these tires i had NO problem with my TPMS system I let Discount tires salesperson talk me into buying new tire sensor but it did NO GOOD , it didn't HELP at all !

215/65 R 16. Four new CONTINENTAL tires fitted early 2021 to Sienna at Discount Tire in Tucson. July 2021 severe vibration and evidence of tire structural issue photographed. All tires showed similar failure mode.. this was on a very hot day. I took the vehicle to Big O tires and had the front two replaced at my expense so the vehicle was drivable. I returned to Discount Tire in Tucson (Speedway) to ask for a recall check after I learned of the 2021 recall on similar Continental tires for sidewall failure. Discount tire reimbursed one tire. I complained to agent Matthew Harby that the other two tires were dangerous because they showed the same sidewall defect on the hot day. He denied my request for replacement if the remaining two Continental tires because there was no open recall on these. I told I him I was worried about a catastrophic failure in normal operation. I then resumed driving. The weather cooled off and until October the two tires behaved normally again.. On 10/30 about 630pm I was dri ong on I10 and experienced catastrophic tire failure in the outside lane speed approx 65mph. I was fortunate to be able to pull over without losing control but the photo shows the extent of this serious failure. I am now at Discount Tire on Ina Road in Tucson requesting replacement of the failed tire and the final remaining CONTINENTAL tire. The photos should show sufficient evidence of sidewall failure matching the failure mode of the recalled tires. THESE ARE DANGEROUS AND NEED NHTSA ACTION WITH A UNIVERSAL RECALL BEFORE A FATAL EVENT OCCURS

We purchased Nokian WrG3 225/60 R18 tires as replacements for the original tires, because we wanted all weather capability. They were installed in November of 2016. One tire subsequently was damaged due to road hazard; was replaced with same Nokian tire. In August, 2021, the tires needed balancing. The dealer (same place we bought them) could not balance them because three of the tires had belt separation. I did not check tire serial number, but assume them to be the original three we purchased new. We are awaiting Nokian's response, as the tires are warranted five years from installation. It is unusual three tires would all suffer belt separation, all made at the same time. Logic would say it is a manufacturing defect.

P225/60R17 98T: Tires create vibrations in the steering column. One tire in particular creates severe vibrations that mechanic states could lead to problems with the steering components. Coordinated w/ Sandy Boulevard Line up shop and one tire could not be aligned due to defect. 2004 Sienna van (140,900 odometer miles) is equipped with Toyo Observe GSi-5 195/65R15 91T (separate 16" rims purchased from Les Schwab) and there is no vibration at all. Les Schwab last tried to "balance" the defective tire in 2019. I have about the 4rth appointment Aug 21 2021 @ 9AM. I will also take the 2004 Sienna van to Japanese Auto repair (web site and e-mail above). to look for any defects. I probably need to put the Winter Observe GSi-5 tires on the car for safety, but they wear out quickly on summer hot roads.
