AIR BAGS

We had our van parked on a driveway with a front facing slope, we had hard rains went we where going away there was water coming out of the seat belt on the passenger side and the panel above the window was stained down to the window support where the air bag is. I've been reading reports as far back as 2008 we have a 2020, went taken to the dealer they want 1000 to 2700 to remove the head liner and try to fine the problem, which what was reported didn't help. The dealer recommended to not park with the front of the van facing down hill if rain is forecast, my problem is that Toyota has not been required to fix the leaks. I'm calling my local dealership tomorrow about are leak.

Dear sir/ madam, I am writing to report an issue with recall status reporting. All open recalls for my vehicle (VIN: [XXX] ) were completed at an authorized dealership on [01/27/2026]. I have documentation from the dealer confirming that the recall repairs were successfully performed. However, the recall status has not been updated in the NHTSA database and still appears as “open.” I request assistance in ensuring the recall completion is properly reported and reflected in the NHTSA system. Thank you. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

2017 Toyota Sienna Saint John, IN Crash 1 injured

AIR BAGS

On [XXX], I was involved in a car accident in Saint John, Indiana, while driving my 2017 Toyota Sienna. The vehicle was hit on the passenger side, but none of the airbags deployed. As a result, I sustained serious injuries including cervical disc herniations, nerve compression, and ongoing pain. Since then, I’ve been unable to perform daily tasks, drive, care for my children, or work as I did before. I confirmed with Toyota that my vehicle has no active recalls, including for airbags, yet this failure occurred. There were no warning lights or messages prior to the incident. The airbag system has not yet been inspected or confirmed defective by a service center, but I am willing to make the vehicle available for inspection if needed. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this failure, as it may represent a serious safety defect that could affect others driving the same model. I can provide supporting documentation, including medical records, police report, and photos of the vehicle. 2015 Toyota Sienna Salinas, CA

AIR BAGS

Water intrusion from front sunroof when vehicle is parked at a 5% grade with the nose downward. Multiple vehicles exhibit this issue. Toyota is not creating any TSB and will mot even remedy it even if we have an extended warranty. Here is a link to the discussion thread: [XXX] I have not posted on this thread but I have the exact same issue for years. Toyota dealerships want me to first pay $1000 in labor to pull down the headliner and test. Then ask the warranty to cover the assembly, if they don't cover it... then I am on the hook for the work. The missing seam sealer is a common issue that will not manifest inside the 3yr / 36k mile warranty. My issue started around 2020 that I noticed and every dealership would not help me other than place a large burden on me. This can impact the electrical and the airbag curtains. The issue needs to have a seal sealer added to the sunroof assembly as the fix. As a family vehicle, this is a dangerous issue for multiple occupants in a single 7 or 8 person hauler minivan. Please ask Toyota remedy this issue that has been going on for over a decade. Please ask them to stop forcing customers to have sunroofs and panoroofs... when they can't build it correctly. AIR BAGS

Sienna had recall on airbags that were fixed. I have a warning dashboard light that says there is an issue with my airbags and the seat belt light is on. According to the dealer there is an issue with the computer board. They purposed to fix the issue at 800.00 dollars. This is a safety issue due to the expensive cost to fix this. The dealer already had to replace the airbags and now there is something wrong with the computer board and currently I do not have airbags.

2019 Toyota Sienna Aledo, TX Crash

AIR BAGS

My van was struck directly in the driver side rear sliding door while sitting still at a stop sign. The other driver collided straight into the passenger compartment door at an approximate speed of 30 mph crushing the door, exploding the window and neither the driver side airbags nor the side curtain airbags deployed. Resulting in my wife severely jarring around in the driver's seat, as well as my son who was securely fastened in a child booster seat in the driver side rear seat. The glass from the rear door window shattered and covered my son and the interior of the vehicle. There are no active recalls, but I read about a recall concerning the passenger side door welds that could affect operation of the side airbag and side curtain airbag sensors, but this only applied to a small number of 2019 Sienna's. Could this have been a manufacturing defect that bled over to the other door structures affecting the sensors in the same way.
