My truck had done the oil update and pico test per gm’s requirements before I had bought it in October of 2025. 8 months later and about 15,000 miles, the engine seized and needed to be replaced. The new engine went in, in late July of this year.

While driving interstate speed pulling a trailer on 08/13/25 had a complete loss of power and truck died. Had to merge on-to the shoulder of the interstate with no power. Parked along side of interstate until towing arrived approx. 2 hours after loss of power event. Truck was towed to Husker Chevrolet where the truck was diagnosed with engine failure. There was no warning of this catastrophic event. On 09/11/26 dealership called stating that they replaced the engine, however the new engine expired while pulling it out of the shop. This would be this trucks 2nd engine.

Several times, while driving, the truck will simply shut down. It will becoime difficult to steer, then the engine will stall, killing the rest of the steering and the breaks as well as the dashboard, radio, etc. This can happen at any speed, low speed especially. I will give you an approximate date below, but there have been several incidents. The truck was looked at by our local mechanice, who could not find a problem and by the dealership electrical specialist who has also been unable to locate a problem.

Statement for NHTSA Subject: Safety Complaint – 2021 Chevrolet Silverado Unexpected Jerking/Harsh Transmission Engagement I am submitting this complaint regarding my 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2.7L Turbo with approximately 128,000 miles. My vehicle has developed a recurring problem involving harsh/jerking transmission engagement, hesitation, shuddering and abnormal shifting. The truck can jerk when engaging or changing gears and has also experienced a hard engagement when shifting from Reverse into Drive. During normal driving, the vehicle can hesitate or feel as though it is repeatedly fluttering/shifting instead of providing smooth and predictable acceleration. The vehicle has produced diagnostic trouble codes including P0700, U0100 and P0420. I am concerned that this condition could create a safety hazard, particularly if the vehicle unexpectedly jerks, hesitates or fails to respond normally when accelerating or changing gears in traffic. I am requesting that NHTSA document this complaint and review whether there is a pattern or potential safety-related defect involving transmission engagement, shifting or drivetrain control on 2021 Chevrolet Silverado vehicles. GM has published service information concerning delayed and harsh transmission engagement on certain Silverado applications, including 2019–2021 models, which makes me concerned that my vehicle may be experiencing a related issue. I am retaining my repair records, diagnostic information, receipts, videos and mileage/date information documenting when the problem occurs. I am willing to provide this information if requested. I took my truck in to have a bad fuel pump module looked at. During the inspection they found some metal in the oil and it was confirmed by more being in the oil filter. This truck had previoulsy been cleared on the NHTSA Campaign 25V-274, but now it appears that it is a part of that recall. The dealer has initiated the work with the chevy corporate offices and I am working to secure a rental/ loaner car. I am filing this in the event there are any issues getting the new replacement engine.

The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle had been experiencing inaccurate DEF gauge readings since the purchase, and the failure mostly occurred while towing a camper or trailer. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH on the highway and hauling a camper, the message that the DEF tank was empty and needed to be refilled was displayed, and the vehicle went into LIMP Mode and decelerated to 35 MPH. The driver continued driving and pulled over to a safe location. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was determined that the DEF tank needed to be replaced; however, the manufacturer denied authorization because the required preliminary procedures had not been completed. The manufacturer General Motors LLC was notified of the failure by phone. The failure mileage was approximately 4.

Following recall review by the dealership, experienced sudden, catastrophic engine failure nearly stranding me on the road with my son. Awaiting final diagnostics from the dealership, but every indication, errors, and symptoms align with all the other complaints that I have reviewed on line for the make/model of my vehicle. My 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RST with the 6.2L engine experienced an engine seizure. The engine was replaced by a Chevrolet dealership under a GM safety recall. Immediately after picking up the vehicle following the recall engine replacement, the truck stalled while still in the Chevrolet dealership parking lot. There was no warning before this first stall. We continued our trip because we did not realize at the time that the stall could indicate a problem following the engine replacement. During the drive from [XXX] to [XXX], the problem continued. In [XXX], the check engine light illuminated and the truck began malfunctioning. The vehicle subsequently stalled again. The problem continued after returning to [XXX]. A Chevrolet dealership in [XXX] inspected the vehicle and reproduced/confirmed a problem involving the camshaft position sensor wiring/connector. The dealership demonstrated the problem by manipulating the connector/wiring and recorded a video of the diagnostic procedure. The vehicle is currently at the Chevrolet dealership and is available for inspection. The affected component should also be available for inspection because it has not yet been repaired. The [XXX] dealership has characterized the wiring/connector condition as normal wear. However, the first stall occurred immediately after the GM recall engine replacement, while the vehicle was still on the repairing Chevrolet dealership's property. Unexpected engine stalling creates a serious safety risk because the vehicle can lose propulsion without warning while driving, including at highway speeds or in traffic. I am concerned that the camshaft position circuit/wiring/connector problem may be associated with the recall engine replacement procedure or replacement engine. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether other vehicles receiving this GM 6.2L engine recall remedy have experienced similar camshaft position circuit failures or unexpected stalling after engine repair. Coolant Control Valve is malfunctioning. Check engine code P1098, Running Fans Loud cooling fans running at full blast shortly after turning off the engine. General Motors issued special coverages N252508341 extending coolant control valve warranty protection up to 15 years or 150,000 miles for select 3.0L Duramax vehicles. Unfortunately, GM says my VIN isn’t covered by the extended warranty even though it has all the same issues as those that are covered down to the check engine code notes on their bulletin N252508341.

The contact owns a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle was losing power. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights and the engine warning light were flashing, and the message “Reduced Acceleration - Drive with Care” was displayed. The vehicle was operated at reduced power and driven to the dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle as having engine failure; however, the part needed for the repair was not available. The contact inspected the vehicle and became aware that the exhaust manifold bolts had detached. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The contact was informed that the warranty mileage limitation had been exceeded. The manufacturer was contacted by phone, and a case was filed. I experienced a crankshaft bearing failure while driving my 6.2L V8 Chevrolet Silverado on the highway / freeway. Thankfully I was able to exit highway / freeway to avoid a car collision due to loss of power. My truck was towed to a certified Chevy dealer. This is a known issue for 2019-2026 6.2L V8 L87 engines. The truck was previously inspected by a certified Chevy dealer for prior L87 engine recall. It passed and they changed the oil type to 0w-40. Prior to this event, my truck was at the dealer for a low oil pressure issue / oil pan replacement. I picked it up from the dealer after the vehicle was repaired and drove it for about three days and then experienced the crankshaft bearing failure. No warning lamps illuminated prior to failure. My truck is currently at the dealer waiting for a new engine.

The engine in my 2023 Silverado ZR2 (6.2L L87 V8) failed. It is available for inspection at Rick Hendrick Chevrolet ([XXX]). On XXX at about 67,000 miles, and the days leading up to it, the truck repeatedly struggled to start due to metal on metal contact, almost leaving me and my family stranded multiple times. Driving the vehicle produced a loud rattling noise at 2200 to 2700 rpm, and felt unsafe to drive. Especially with my family. The problem was reproduced and confirmed to be an engine failure by the Rick Hendrick Chevy dealership a week after being dropped off with an appointment. I have been told the engine needs to be replaced under the special coverage program (N252494003). The L87 recall inspection and oil change was completed on XXX also by Rick Hendrick Chevy. There were not warning lights or other symptoms leading up to this engine failure. The symptoms of struggling to start and the ticking noise as 2200 to 2700 RPM started that weekend before I brought to dealership. They got progressively worse. Dealership has said I will receive a new engine under warranty but no timeline for completion. Additionally I have not been furnished with a service loaner or option for one. As noted in my last report that I sent to you now my truck needs an engine because of a road knock. This is the second engine. It was changed in 2011 and I’ve been complaining about this and I wanted Chevy to do a pico test they refused to do it because they’re telling me it’s too old but the truck only 111842 miles on it As prior complaint coming back from Cape May, the truck stalled I toasted to the side and it took a long time for it to start back up and when it did, it started knocking real loud Now Chevy refuses to do anything about this. Maybe I could get some response out of you. Thank you for your help.

The vehicle has blown 3 motors in 3 years. I took felivery 3/17/23. The first engine blew at 8,000 miles on 10/27/24. The second one blew 8/29/25 The 3rd one blew 4/12/26 at 52,000 miles on the vehicle.
