Purchased the vehicle on 3/5/2022 with less than 10k miles on it. Within the first 2 months of driving the vehicle, the infotainment screen would freeze while driving and reset. One of these occurrences happened while driving on the highway at which time when the screen froze, turned a different color, and all the lights on the dashboard turned on simultaneously resulting in me not having control of the vehicle mechanics. This lasted for a few seconds, however, driving at a speed of 65 mph without control of the vehicle mechanics was and is extremely dangerous which could have resulted in an accident causing damage, injury, and death. This occurrence happened a total of three times. After a few months owning the vehicle on the first attempt utilized the key fob to lower my windows which resulted in the battery draining and the vehicle inoprable. Since my vehicle is my kids and my only mode or transportation I had to go to the nearest open Autozone to purchase a new battery. Mind you this was on a Sunday night about 9:00 pm so I had to catch an Uber to the nearest open store about 25 miles away. Once I returned home I replaced the battery and the car started at which time I called it a night. The next morning when leaving home for work and taking kids to school the Infotainment Screen was frozen with a black Honda logo as well as a manlfunction with the reverse and side camera. I have taken my vehicle to the local Honda dealer twice on a Saturday since this is the only available free time I have, however, on both occasions both Service Associates conveyed they had not heard of this malfunction previously and that the vehicle would need a diagnostic test I could not afford. The incident occurred on 5/24/23.

The air conditioning system has failed. Safety is at risk due to elevated temperatures. Thousands of people have complained about these issues. HSB 19-091 does not go far enough, Honda needs to recall the entire a/c system and repair these manufacturer defects.

AC compressor and condenser are both broken or have leaked. They should cover both, not just one part. A lot of people with civic owners are complaining with the same issue. Honda should cover all AC parts. P.S: im not sure if this is related but i smell like metal from the AC vent which is very bad for the health.

Our car’s A/C system failed for the third time. It was no longer blowing cool air into the car interior. The diagnosis was, the A/C O-ring was leaking. The O-ring was replaced. We were charged for the O-ring replacement $541. After paying the bill Honda reimbursed us for the amount.

In late winter of 2022, the car’s A/C system failed for the fourth time. The car A/C system stopped functioning; it was no longer blowing cool air into the car. The diagnosis was that the A/C compressor was leaking. The A/C compressor was replaced and we were charged $2027. We paid the bill and asked Honda to reimburse us for the amount because after 4 failures in 3 years it was obvious that the Civic A/C system design was flawed. Honda refused to pay for the compressor replacement.

When selecting Reverse, the rearview camera usually displays quickly, but sometimes takes several seconds to display, or doesn't display at all (the screen remains black). This detracts from my ability to reverse safely. The radio / vehicle information display usually responds quickly to a button press, but sometimes can take several seconds to respond. Since I don't anticipate the delay, I tend to continue watching the screen while I'm waiting for it to react, instead of paying attention to the road. Especially while driving at highway speeds, these intermittent, variable delays can take my attention away from the road for a dangerous amount of time before I realize I'm not watching the road as I should be. Since the rearview camera uses the radio display, I think these issues may be related. This has been going on since the car was new.

AIR CONDITIONER ON DRIVER'S SIDE NOT COOLING/BLOWING WARM AIR. HONDA DEALER PERFORMED DIAGNOSIS AND FOUND SYSTEM SLIGHTLY LOW, AND FOUND AC COMPRESSOR IS LEAKING. COST TO REPAIR IS $1900.00. OUR 2016 HONDA CIVIC HAD 33K MILES AND IS GARAGE KEPT AND WELL MAINTAINED. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND THE COMPRESSOR LEAKING IS A COMMON PROBLEM! THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING ON A CAR WITH 33K MILES ON IT!!! I HAVE BEEN A HONDA OWNER FOR OVER 20 YEARS AND EXPECT HONDA TO ISSUE A RECALL OR EXTEND THE WARRANTY ON THE COMPRESSOR/COOLING SYSTEM FOR THIS KNOWN DEFECT. THIS SYSTEM HAS NOT LIVED UP TO THE REASONABLE EXPECTATION OF RELIABILITY OF HONDA CARS, AND THAT AN AC COMPRESSOR SHOULD LAST MORE THAN JUST A FEW YEARS WITH LOW MILEAGE. THIS IS WELL BEYOND WHAT WOULD BE CONSIDERED AS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR! I AM DISAPPOINTED AND UPSET THAT HONDA SO FAR HAS NOT DONE THE RIGHT THING IN ADDRESSING A KNOWN DEFECT AND DOING RIGHT BY THEIR CUSTOMERS FOR A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR IN THE MIDDLE OF PANDEMIC WHEN MANY HAVE BEEN UNEMPLOYED OR FINANCIALLY IMPACTED. DO THE RIGHT THING HONDA!! COVER THIS REPAIR UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY!!!

EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER
MY 2016 HONDA HAS BEGAN TO BLOWN HOT AIR THROUGH MY AIR CONDITIONING UNIT WHILE I'M DRIVING MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO BREATH.THIS BEGUN ON 4/2020 WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I TOOK MY CAR TO NORM REEVES HONDA IN THE CITY OF CERRITOS, CA AND THEY SAID THAT THE CONDENSOR IS LEAKING AS WELL AS THE EVAPORATOR. THE CONDENSORS THAT HONDA HAS BEEN USING ON THERE 2016 - 2018 HONDA CIVICS HAVE A HISTORY OF FAILING AND THAT IS WHY HONDA IS NOW EXTENDING THERE WARRANT OF THEM FOR AN EXTRA TWO YEARS HOWEVER HONDA ALSO KNOW THAT THE EVAPORATORS ARE DEFECTED ALSO. I HAVE SPOKE WITH AMERICAN HONDA AND THEY ARE AWARE OF MY PROBLEM AND REFUSE TO HELP. HONDA ALSO KNOWS THAT YOU CAN'T REPLACE THE CONDENSOR WITHOUT SERVICING THE EVAPORATOR AND THAT IS THE WAY THAT THEY AVOID HAVING TO REPAIR THE DEFECTED PART ON YOUR VEHICLE. TO REPLACE THE LEAKING EVAPORATOR, HONDA SAID THEY WOULD CHARGE ME $1,609 AND EVEN THOUGH THIS DEFECTIVE PART WAS CAUSING ME BREATHING TROUBLE, THAT THE EVAPORATOR IS NOT COVERED IN THE NEW EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO COME UP WITH THE MONEY. IF HONDA HAD MADE ME AWARE OF THIS DEFECT AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE, I WOULD HAVE NEVER PURCHASED THIS CAR. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO THE FACT THAT THAT THE CAR IS PUMPING HOT AIR INTO THE VEHICLE EVEN WHILE TURNED OFF CAUSING BREATHING TROUBLE AS WELL A VISION TROUBLE FOR ANY DRIVER IN THE CAR. PLEASE HELP IN ANY WAY THAT YOU CAN. THANK YOU CELL [XXX] CELL [XXX] EMAIL : [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

I SKIDDED BACKWARDS DOWN THE STREET IN SNOWY CONDITIONS BECAUSE 2019 HONDA CIVIC SI WAS SHIPPED WITH SUMMER TIRES INSTEAD OF ALL SEASON TIRES. THE MANUFACTURER'S WINDOW STICKER INDICATED THAT ALL SEASON TIRES WERE INSTALLED WHEN IN FACT, THEY WERE SUMMER TIRES WHICH WERE TOTALLY UNSUITED TO DRIVING IN NEW ENGLAND IN WINTER. I ONLY DISCOVERED THIS AFTER I WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE CAR. HONDA IS AWARE OF THIS AND HAS ISSUED SERVICE BULLETIN 19-007, BUT HAS NOT NOTIFIED ALL OF THE DEALERS AND HAS NOT CONTACTED THE OWNERS DIRECTLY.
