The worst model year for it is 2006.
The contact owns a 2017 Honda Odyssey hauling a trailer equipped with a Rhino USA Trailer Hitch Coupler Lock Kit. The contact stated that while driving at 70 MPH over a bump, the trailer hitch latch lock had failed, causing the trailer to detach and strike the rear of the vehicle, producing sparks. The safety chain remained on the trailer. Upon inspection, the contact discovered that the coupler latch had opened and the lock was no longer securing the trailer. The trailer lock was found, but the pin was missing. The contact used a jack to lift the trailer and put the trailer back on the hitch using another pin and was able to continue driving for the rest of the trip. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.

Hand control device for disabled drivers is correctly installed under the stearing wheel and works as intended. However, device has several very sharp right angle and corner points that, in the event of a collision, the sharp (not rounded) areas would severely damage driver's knees.
NHTSA complaint #11694918 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.

Additionally, the contact stated that the air conditioner had been replaced 4 times due to constant failure. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 215,000.

12/21/23: Wheelchair ramp and kneel function failed with no warning. This engaged safety feature that disables gear shift and keeps car in park. Unable to move car or deploy ramp using back-up override. Called Mobility Works (authorized VMI dealer). Troubleshooting failed to deploy ramp or kneel function. Told only option was to pop off tab next to gear shift and insert screwdriver to override “park” lock. Fortunately, quadriplegic spouse was not in the vehicle or he would have been trapped. 12/26/23 to 1/3/24: Vehicle inspected at Mobility Works, technician diagnosed controller board failure and recommended replacement. Told VMI lost supplier for controller board leaving no way to properly restore conversion equipment. On 1/3/24 spoke to VMI technician who confirmed controller board is unavailable. He stated VMI engineering department is trying to develop a workaround for a new controller board. VMI technician also reported two calls a day for this problem, and that it affects their Chrysler conversion equipment as well. 2/7/24: Telephoned VMI technical support. Told workaround for controller board will not be available for months. Told that if quadriplegic becomes trapped in car to call fire department. Told this is an acceptable solution in the mobility industry if back-up fails. Very cavalier, comparing to Ford no longer making fuel pump or fuel hose for his old truck. 4/18/24; 4/25/24: Emailed VMI requesting status of controller board replacement. No response. Conclusion: The controller board failed without warning, causing all conversion equipment to fail, including back-up override, and potentially trapping power wheelchair dependent individuals in their vehicles. VMI has failed to provide parts for repair of its conversion equipment. VMI authorized dealer estimates $1,000 to bypass controller board. This will cause certain accessibility functions to no longer work. The vehicle has been unusable for quadriplegic spouse since December 2023.

When Honda IT Department wrote and installed the in-dash Navigation Computer System they neglected to correct a permanently and known Date and Time Glitch. January 2022 the date and time went back to 2002. Owners can not correct this glitch. Each time as you start the engine and begin to drive the Navigation System give off a not expecting very loud high pitch sound , which is a safety hazard. It has startled me and my passenger where I have slammed on brakes or jerked my steering

The center infotainment display does not have any visuals anymore. It started with cameras and displays glitching in and out for about 1&1/2 years. The problem wasn’t too bad, but in Aug 2021, the radio started to not work, and then we began hearing 3 tapping noises every 2 seconds while the engine was on. Now the screen is black and has no displays at all. We brought the van in to the dealership and they said parts had to be ordered. The Honda Advisor told me that this was a problem that they are aware of that happens often with this particular model. It’s been 3 months and nothing has been done. When I called back to check on the parts and progress to see when I can get it fixed, the service department changed their narrative and now they know nothing about any issues like that. We cannot use any functions like rear view display, heat or AC controls, and anything else that are displayed on the infotainment screen. We have 4 kids all under age 6, and my fear is that one child may sneak out and walk behind our van while we are backing out. The mirrors can only see so much, but the rear camera can give a better view of anything low and short.

The audio/infotainment system controls everything in the vehicle. It has had a crackling noise coming over the speakers since I purchased the vehicle in September 2020. I had purchased it brand new and almost immediately after I took delivery realized there was an issue with this vehicle. After reviewing online posts from other owners, it became apparent that this was a widespread issue. The system just turns off while you're driving and you get a black screen that says "network connection lost" and you can't do anything with the unit. The rear-entertainment system does not work, can't adjust any settings that are controlled through the unit which as I said, everything is controlled through there, no rear-view camera, etc. I have brought it back to the dealer countless times and they said there were not any fixes for it and it is a known issue. There was one recall issued that the dealer performed but the problem still exists. The dealer told me that it was a temporary solution for the issue and Honda did not have a permanent fix.

WHILE PICKING UP MY 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY FROM THE DEALERSHIP {DUE TO A REPAIR FROM A RECALL} I'M INFORMED THAT I NEED TO REPLACE MY "MOTOR MOUNTS"'. MY VAN IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD AT THIS POINT AND THIS WILL COST ~ OVER $1,000.00! *TR THIS CAUSES LAG UPON ACCELERATION AND VIBRATION AT HIGHER SPEEDS {AND WILL BE MUCH WORSE WHEN ALL 3 MOUNTS FAIL}. WHY IS HONDA PLACING SUCH SUBSTANDARD PARTS IN ITS VEHICLES?

TPM(TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR) LIGHT INDICATING LOW PRESSURE WHEN THERE IS NO ERROR. DEALER (SAN MARCO,TEXAS) CLAIMS THE ISSUE IS DUE TO CELL PHONE CHARGER INTERFERENCE WITH TPM SYSTEM. DEALER CLAIMS HONDA IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND SENT OUT A SERVICE BULLETIN TO LIMIT THE CELL PHONE CHARGER TO LESS THAN TWENTY MINUTES TO PREVENT THE TPM FAULT CODE AND DASH LIGHT FROM BEING SET. IN MY PROFESSIONAL OPTION, HONDA AMERICA HAS WHAT IS KNOWN AS A 'CONDUCTIVE ELECTRO-MAGNETIC INTERFERENCE" ISSUE WITH THEIR SYSTEM. BASED ON WHAT HAS BEEN COMMUNICATED, I BELIEVE THERE IS AN ELEMENTARY DESIGN FLAW WITH THEIR SYSTEM THAT ALLOWS EITHER THE TRANSMITTED ENERGY OR INTERNAL GENERATED SIGNALS OF CELL PHONE TO BE COUPLED INTO THEIR SYSTEM USING THE BATTERY LINES.

HEADSETS WON'T WORK AT ALL ONLY STATIC SOUND . I HEARD IS A COMMON PROBLEM BUT HONDA DOESN'T ADMIT IT NOR FIX IT FOR FREE . I THINK HONDA SHOULD RECALL THIS PROBLEM.

I WAS NOT AWARE THAT HONDA HAD A RECALL ON THE POWER STEERING PUMP. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR OVER A YEAR. MY LOCAL DEALER (AUTOPARKS HONDA, CARY, NC) IS TELLING ME THAT THE RECALL IS OVER AND THE EXTENDED RECALL IS OVER SO THEY CANNOT FIX IT AT NO COST TO ME. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY HONDA WILL NOT REPLACE THE POWER STEERING PUMP WHEN THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS PART. IT IS STILL VERY HARD TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. I REALLY LIKE MY ODYSSEY AND I WOULD LIKE TO SEE HONDA STAND BEHIND THEIR RECALLS.

OUR 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY SUDDENLY STARTED BLOWING HOT AIR OUT OF THE DRIVERS SIDE WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING ON. WE HAD RECENTLY HAD TO REPLACE THE COMPRESSOR, AND THOUGHT THAT THERE WAS JUST A LEAK IN A HOSE, WE REFILLED THE FREON A FEW TIMES BEFORE THE WEATHER COOLED DOWN AND THEN LEFT IT ALONE FOR THE WINTER. WHEN I WENT TO HAVE IT FIXED LAST WEEK, I FOUND OUT THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE CONDENSER, JUST LIKE I HAD HEARD HAD HAPPENED TO A LOT OF OTHER 2007 ODYSSEY OWNERS. $970.00 LATER OUR AIR CONDITIONING WORKS, BUT THERE IS NOTHING TO STOP THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. HONDA STILL ISN'T DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THEY SHOULD AT LEAST OFFER TO PAY FOR A GUARD UNDER THE VEHICLE TO PREVENT THE PROBLEM FROM RECURRING. WHEN YOU LIVE IN ARIZONA LIKE I DO, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
