2017 Hyundai Accent Oak Ridge, TN

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

I have had this vehicle for 5 years and even replaced the engine in this vehicle for it to end up with the same issue. I take very good care of it and get its maintenance done. But the car is slow to get up to speed and misfires really bad. I replaced the spark plugs in it and they were coated in oil. The airbag sensor will come on indicating it’s not operating properly. Overall a very unreliable vehicle that has multiple issues. It has ended in catastrophic engine failure twice now

2020 Hyundai Accent Richmond, VA

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

I purchased my 2020 Hyundai Accent from Shirlie Slack Mitsubishi, in Fredericksburg, Virginia on [XXX]. It wasn't long after purchasing that I began experiencing difficulties with it. The car will shut off when it comes to a complete stop or even if I s for a brief moment to switch gears, for example when parallel parking. Some days it would happen less often, maybe once or twice per trip then other days it would happen every time I came to a complete stop, shutting off in bumper to bumper traffic on the highway even. Because of my warranty through my dealership and Hyundai, I cannot take it anywhere else to have work done on it. Therefore I have been to this Hyundai for this issue three separate times now. The West Broad Hyundai in Richmond, Virginia. I even tried taking it to a different Hyundai in Richmond and they denied me, saying that I was already in the system at the West Broad location, and that I had to take it there. I have yet to see improvement after having it serviced any of the times. In fact one time after picking it up from Hyundai the problem occurred on my way way home. 2016 Hyundai Accent Atlanta, GA

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

My 2016 Hyundai accent engine has all of sudden stop working and i have explained to multiple shops and my insurance that i was deployed for a whole year and the car was driving fine and once I came back it just wouldn’t crank. Two Hyundai shops informed me that the engine is locked up but neither shop provided a thorough investigation as to why this has happened. There were two-three major hurricanes in Texas where it was stored while I was deployed in Kuwait and Iraq from march 2023- march 2024 as well as another hurricane in Georgia where i am currently located now which happened September 2024. The engine is locked with no explanation as to how and a Hyundai representative by the name of don who provided the goodwill repair on July 09 2024 and i had it towed to Hyundai in Marietta and they looked and provided the same explanation that the engine is locked and to get it replaced with no detailed reasoning why. My safety has been at risk due to driving across states and town to get this vehicle serviced properly and causing mental anguish and depression as I am not able to get to where I need to go everyday which is causing friction in relationship and I am missing important events. I emailed the CEO Randy Parker and his executive assistant Amanda has done nothing but further deny the goodwill with no explanation on how, why, what, when. No, the problem was not confirmed as again it was no detail reasoning behind how the engine locked when it was working fine before returning from overseas. The vehicle was inspected by the local Hyundai dealerships in Killeen Texas and another in Marietta, GA and only inspected by one adjuster recently on October 10, 2024. There was no check engine illuminated in the car once I returned from overseas as it has not been driven much. There is still no check engine light illuminated even after all the shops checking. To make this right, I would like for Hyundai (HMUSA) to honor the goodwill REPAIR and or REPLACEMENT of the engine.

2002 Hyundai Accent Hemet, CA

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Purchased car 2002 in Arizona. About 2009 when the check engine light came on and when filling the car with gas the pump would stop after less than .25 gallons pumped. It takes greater than 20 minutes to fill the tank and many times the auto shut off fails and I end up being sprayed gasoline. This is a personal safety issue as well as an enviromental hazard. There are many similar complaints about this issue, but it is repeatedly ignored. What will get this addressed, some one being seriously injured after being doused with gasoline?

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

I was driving home with my children from the store, when my car started smoking, shut off, and the engine caught on fire. I barely made it out of the car with my toddlers before the whole thing was engulfed, and I lost all of my money, cards, and the majority of our clothing, as it had been in the trunk after having finished washing it at the laundromat up the street.

2019 Hyundai Accent OTO, IA

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

my vehicle had a fuel injector lock open flooding the car until it damaged the O2 sensor and also contaminating the engine oil. the car went through about two and a half gallons of gas in 3 minutes. during the repair process I mentioned to the dealership that the engine oil smells like gas and was a quart and a half higher than what it was after the last oil change 5 days prior. I'm believing the Quart and a half was most certainly all gas. the dealership informed me they could not repair the oil as it was not covered under warranty. if I wanted to dispute the warranty I had to contact Hyundai customer service. That was April 25th 2023 and as of May 23rd 2023 despite repeated phone calls Hyundai customer service they have never called me back. there are 2 safety issues in regards to this 1. when the fuel injector locked open dumping two and a half gallons of gas vapor in 3 minutes could easily have led to a fire or worse. 2. refusing to replace the contaminated engine oil is a safety issue because gas in the oil will cause the engine to fail. if this happens on the interstate which I drive all the time it could lead to a catastrophic accident involving me and other cars. eventually because I didn't have the money the dealership comped the oil change (I do not have the money for the change because had I changed the oil 5 days prior to the breakdown). the dealership recognized the safety hazard from contaminate engine oil but Hyundai motor company of America refuses to even call me back and if they had it their way would I would have just had me drive in a vehicle that represented a danger. the repair invoice has the oil change listed as warranty but it was not likely to be covered by warranty as the service customer service manager informed me they're going to have to fight with Hyundai and will probably end up competent in the long run. this was after 2 weeks of fighting with Hyundai to get them to pay for it and still they have never called me back.

2015 Hyundai Accent at 116,518 miles Punxsutawney, PA

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Okay, I'm going to try my best at explaining what I am experiencing. This is my SECOND Hyundai Accent. The first car I had was a 2004 Accent. The second car I have now is a 2015. Both cars have the same exact problem. And I am NOT fixing it. This is definitely a MANUFACTURING ERROR. It's so dangerous too, because my engine could just BLOW UP. Anywhoooo, both cars just BURN OIL LIKE GAS. I repeat, BURN OIL LIKE GAS. I need to check the oil every (at the most) 2 weeks because of how badly oil is just burning up. Also, there is a "Check Engine" code being thrown for something small in the EVAP System. Same cars, 11 years apart. Same problems!? I don't think that is right WHATSOEVER. I have researched ongoing recalls & expired recalls. To my disappointment, I find NOTHING. This is a MAJOR ISSUE. There is absolutely zero irony in 2 cars, being 11 years apart, newer one being a 6 speed manual, having the SAME ISSUES EXACTLY. I was so happy to get a newer one, thinking, "oh there can't be possibly anything wrong with this model". WRONG. Absolutely, positively NO CAR should have to dump almost 5 quarts of oil in your car every 1000 miles or less. I constantly need to buy 1 or 2 quarts of oil BIWEEKLY for this 2015 Hyundai Accent. I can't just get rid of it, cars are expensive! This is absolutely the manufacturers problem. So I am going above their heads to get this taken care of. Monday, I want to try and call Hyundai, either the one near me, or some "hotline". This is unacceptable. My car will show that "low oil pressure" light and my heart just drops. "I just put oil in it!". I say to myself. Do not get me wrong. I love my car. I want my car taken care of. As, when I bought it, Blaise Alexander *apparently* didn't know about it. And they flat out lied about the check engine light! I've had numerous people look at it. They hardly have an answer. Its expensive and labor intensive. Please help me solve this problem. I am NOT the only one. -Morgan Buerk

Whenever I get gas even when I pump really slow when I go to remove the nozzle gas spurts out. I have had the charcoal cannister replaced as well as replacing the gas cap but it still happens. This is very dangerous since gas is leaking onto the car and area surrounding it.
