SERVICE BRAKES

purchased a 2018 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque from Car Choice in Carrollton, Texas in October 2025. Shortly after purchase, I discovered the vehicle was sold in an unsafe and non-roadworthy condition. The vehicle had NO rear brake pads present at the time of sale, creating an immediate and serious safety hazard. In addition, the wheels cannot be removed due to a missing wheel lock key, preventing proper servicing of the braking system. Additional defects include a coolant system leak, windshield washer fluid leak, and an inoperative sunroof. The dealership informed me the vehicle only passed an emissions inspection and did not undergo a safety inspection. These safety-related defects were not disclosed prior to sale. Had I known the vehicle lacked rear brake pads, I would not have purchased it. After reviewing Better Business Bureau (BBB) records, I observed the dealership has a history of consumer complaints involving the sale of vehicles with undisclosed defects and safety issues, suggesting this may be a pattern rather than an isolated incident. I have filed formal complaints with the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles and the Texas Attorney General. Despite notifying dealership management, the dealer has denied responsibility and failed to resolve the matter.

SERVICE BRAKES

At just a little over 58k miles the vehicle started making metal noises while driving. The vehicle will jump into neutral while driving and this was very scary! There are no warning lights or any error codes. This was checked and confirmed by a LandRover dealership in Roanoke- no fault codes. I didnt drive for another few months. Next drive was from VA to KY and the vehicle did the same thing on the highway, I was able to pull over after having a panic attack and almost being hit by other vehicles that were moving! I didnt drive it for another few months. Drove the vehicle 3 weeks ago, the noises and the shift in neutral happened again and I had to pull off the side of the road. This time gearbox fault light came on. This is very scary, this vehicle should be high tech enough to show error codes or warning lights and absolutley nothing from diagnostic check. Now, I am nowhere close to a land rover dealership, called the manufacturer several times about recalls and or problems. I was brushed off and told there is nothing they can do. This is not only frustrating: This is dangerous! I had my family in this car and we could have been in a terrible accident due to no warning. The local mechanic still shows no stored error codes or issues. This is a danger and I have found this same issue in many forums. This should be a recall and the manufacturer should stand behind their work.

When I reverse in cold outside temperatures there is a very loud squealing noise. When turning wheel slowly left or right there is a loud grinding noise that gets louder when pressing the gas. When I turn the heater on over 2 notches a loud buzzing whistling sound gets louder the higher I turn the heater on. I have taken it to Land Rover and they tell me they couldn’t find anything wrong but there is definitely something wrong.

2013 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Broadlands, VA

SERVICE BRAKES

While driving south on I-95 from Virginia into North Carolina, we experienced serious brake failure. The power brakes went out completely. The Evoque is almost 10 years old with about 95K miles, we bought it new and we've maintained it meticulously (new rear brakes installed late May, 2022). We had been driving in fairly heavy traffic for the first 200 miles of our trip, with plenty of stop & go, and no issues. When we decided to exit at the NC Welcome Center, my wife was driving and when she tried to break on the exit ramp, nothing happened! We were lucky no cars or pedestrians were in front of us, and lucky it was a long exit ramp. She kept her foot on the brake as hard as possible, and we gradually slowed to a manageable speed and parked. First I checked myself and sure enough the car wouldn't stop as soon as I put it in gear. Next I checked the brake fluid, which was full. I tried pumping the brakes, and everything else I could thing of but the brakes would not work at all. While waiting 3.5 hours for a tow truck, I did some research and learned that this issue of power assist failure in the 2012-2019 Evoque models has been under review by the NHTSA already. Our Evoque had a Virginia safety inspection in May 2022 when the new rear brakes were installed, and there were absolutely no warning lights or other indications of trouble or risk. This situation could have ended very seriously if we hadn't pulled over for a break. Now that I know this has happened with other Evoques, I expect Land Rover to pay for the repair; I've also lost confidence in the Evoque power assist configuration and I think Land Rover needs to issue a safety recall.

SERVICE BRAKES

2016 Land rover Evoque. 23090 miles on it. I was driving local road around 30mpg. I heard something loud pop noise and brake system failed. Break pedal feels like sponge and sink to the floor, not enough breaking power to stop the vehicle in front of stop sign. I used engine break to reduce speed and use approximately 5-10% remain break power to stop finally. After I stopped car. I noticed break fluid is completely leaked out. Technician verified that right front caliper hose is broken. My vehicle is only 24000 miles and mostly city commute driving, no off-roading. It it’s manufacture defect break hose, I think it’s serious safety issue. Luckily, no accident with other vehicles in my case. Please investigate this break hose issue and prevent accident if it’s manufacture defective break hose problem. Thank you [XXX] If you need pictures of the defective break hose or other question please feel free to send an email to [XXX]. Similar to those issues identified in Open Investigation EA 20-001, I was driving two boy scouts to camp when my vehicle's brakes no longer worked. The brake pedal was firm and vehicle would not slow down almost resulting in a catastrophic crash on Interstate 95. Was able to veer off the road into the shoulder and up a ramp with a hill to slow down to safety. Vehicle is currently at dealer for diagnostics and repair.

2012 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque at 90,000 miles APO, NY

SERVICE BRAKES

WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 80 MPH, THE VEHICLE'S BRAKE MALFUNCTIONED AND I COULDN'T PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL; IT WOULD NOT EVEN GO DOWN. THERE WERE 2 CARS DRIVING AHEAD OF ME ON THE LEFT LANE, THEREFORE, I TRIED TO PASS TO THE RIGHT LANE BY CHECKING WHETHER THERE WAS ANY SPACE BECAUSE THERE WERE 2 TRUCKS BEHIND ON THE RIGHT 2 LANES. LUCKILY, I COULD PASS TO THE RIGHT LANES AND FINALLY TO THE SHOULDER TO TRY TO SLOW DOWN. THEN, I DROVE THE CAR TO A NEARBY ROADHOUSE AREA AND I STOPPED THE CAR THERE BY HANDBRAKE. THIS WAS REALLY UNBELIEVABLE AND TERRIFYING. THEN, THE VEHICLE WAS CARRIED BY A TOW TRUCK BACK TO ANKARA, AND THE CAR MECHANIC CHECKED THE CAR, WHERE THEY DETERMINED THAT A PART INSIDE THE BRAKE VACUUM MOTOR WAS TOTALLY BROKEN, AND THAT COULD HAVE CREATED A FATAL ACCIDENT,
