The Hydro Boost Pump Port Tube Assembly (Mopar P/N 04581758AA / 4581758AA) on my 2018 Ram 2500 6.7L Cummins has failed and requires replacement. My concern is that this component is part of the hydraulic assist system supporting critical steering/braking functions. A failure or loss of hydraulic pressure could result in significantly increased steering or braking effort and create a serious safety hazard, particularly while towing, carrying a load, or traveling at highway speeds. I am requesting NHTSA review this component and determine whether similar failures have been reported on Ram 2500 vehicles and whether further investigation or manufacturer action is warranted.

The electronic throttle control light and check engine light are on. I took it to a mechanic and had the accelerator pedal replaced. The lights remained on and the truck remains in "limp mode" and will not go over 59mph. The mechanic stated that this is due to the unresolved recall problems with the traction control and anti lock braking system, and the HCU needing replaced. These components and labor are over 2-3 thousand dollars! I have called NHTSA and the manufacturer with questions and asked for a timeframe for a fix and have received nothing.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

The recall causes the cruise control to be inoperable, the abs system to be inoperable and causes the warning messages to flash and the audible tone to sound constantly. I am currently unable to utilize the vehicle as intended (towing) because of the braking safety issue.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Vehicle has not has cruise control, abs, traction/stability control for over 2 years. No traction control or stability in the winter is horrible. Not being able to control speed when traveling is inconvenient. The warning lamps illuminated and went away for weeks. Then randomly just stayed illuminated. Abs hydraulic pump has failed. The recall has been open for over a year and a half and no parts or remedy to fix it.

2018 RAM 2500 Burlington, KY

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Vehicle is unsafe to drive due to the loss of ABS and traction control. The constant dinging of the warning is very distracting. Stellantis, Ram Trucks, and local dealers do not seem to care that this has been an ongoing issue for over a year and still do not have any parts for the recall.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

My vehicle experienced the exact component failure described in NHTSA Recall 24V-896 (FCA Campaign C4B), but my VIN is currently excluded due to the manufacturing date window." My truck's build date was 01/17. The following warning lights appeared (ABS, Traction Control/ESC) and I lost auxiliary cruise control. An independent shop diagnosed the failed Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) / ABS pump motor and I had to pay out of pocket ($750) to restore the safety features of the vehicle.

24V-896 Recall open since November 2024. No known resolution. How is this considered a reasonable amount of time? The truck chimes the entire time I drive it and it is a safety issue because it spins tires and has no abs or traction control.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

There has been an open recall on my vehicle for over 2 YEARS ! even the recall states "...may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning." This has negatively affected and is a safety issue which involves: 1) Electronic Stability Control - turns off and on - doesn't work 2) Cruise control - cannot use, turns off on on on it's own 3) Steering - affects the steering wheel when turning the wheel, the wheel vibrates and wobbles 4) Traction control - turns off and on 5) Anti lock braking - turns off on on It is my only vehicle which FCA/Ram knows is unsafe to drive but I must drive to work etc. I cannot resell or trade this vehicle in because of the enormous loss in value since it is not repaired by FCA or who ever owns Dodge Ram at this time. I have on multiple occasions contacted FCA/ Chrysler/ and the dealership about the issue, opened numerous cases about the unresolved issues and attempted to get a status with no remedy or timeline provided by the manufacturer. If my family is in the vehicle and we crash... who can I sue? Chrysler? the dealership? or the NHSTA for allowing an open SAFETY recall to continue for over 2 YEARS!!

I traded my 2001 F250 for this yard art with intentions pf pulling our fifth wheel all over the country. It has sat un-usable for two years. I would happily pay for the parts if they were available. They are not at least that is what the dealer keeps telling me. Milton Ruben in Augusta. The recall is about two years old now and nothing is happening. I can't sell it, I can't trade it,, This is complete BS. And as I understand, there are around 36,000 affected by this??? You can't drive it because of the constant chiming and no cruise control on trips,,

This recall for ABS control module went out just after my warranty expired. My truck is a 2017 with just over 60,000 miles and I am scared to haul trailer as the brakes lock up with sudden stops. Also cruise control and traction control won't work and truck constantly dings all the time to remind me I bought a broken truck that RAM don't fell like they have to fix such a hazardous safety issue

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Manufacturer Recall C4B and NHTSA Recall Number 24V-896 have not been addressed by the manufacturer. Both recall notices were issued Nov. 27, 2024. The following conditions have occurred in the 2018 Ram 2500 I own. "Vehicles may have been built with a brake hydraulic control unit ("HCU") that is susceptible to failure or malfunction which may result in a reduction or change of Anti-Lock Brake System ("ABS")/Electronic Stability Control ("ESC") /Traction Control performance. A failing HCU will initially result in the intermittent loss of ABS/Traction control progressing to permanent loss." The HCU failure causes the failure of the ABS function, the Traction Control function and the failure of the Cruise Control feature. The failure of these integrated safety features dramatically increase the risk of accident, injury or death. The warning lights associated with the system failure are ABS, Traction Control, and Service Electronic Braking System. The indication for this failure have been occurring since Feb 12, 2025.

2018 RAM 2500 Hampton, VA

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

I am submitting this complaint about Safety Recall C4B / NHTSA 24V‑896 for my 2018 Ram 2500 (VIN: [XXX] ). I am active‑duty military living in Virginia; the truck is registered in Tennessee. FCA’s recall notice says the brake hydraulic control unit (HCU) may fail, causing intermittent then permanent loss of ABS, ESC, and traction control, and that this “may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.” My truck shows as affected, but I have been unable to get the recall repair. The notice also states that the remedy is “not currently available” and that FCA will contact me when it is. As of February 2026, more than a year after the recall was initiated, I am still being told that parts are unavailable and there is no firm ETA for when the repair can be performed. In the meantime, I continue to drive with a known safety defect FCA has already acknowledged. My truck’s ABS and ESC lights cycle on and off while driving, consistent with the defect description. This creates real concern about whether ABS/ESC will function during emergency braking or low‑traction conditions, especially given that I use the truck for commuting and towing. I am also aware that FCA is reimbursing owners who have already paid out of pocket to replace failed HCUs, which suggests that replacing the HCU is the recognized fix, even as owners like me are told there is “no remedy available” under the recall. This appears to leave many vehicles on the road with a known safety defect and no timely, practical way to obtain the promised free repair. I respectfully request that NHTSA review FCA’s handling of Recall 24V‑896, evaluate whether FCA is providing a remedy within a reasonable time, and consider any enforcement or additional oversight needed to ensure parts are supplied and repairs completed promptly for all affected vehicles. 2017 RAM 2500 Benicia, CA

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

The HCU for my truck failed and was replaced 6/25/2021. It failed again 12/2024 but before it could be replaced a recal for the HCU came out with the warning "The loss of ABS/ESC/Traction control may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning" Now the warning light keeps coming on and going off with the alarm sound as I drive. It also turns off the cruise control. This has been going on for well over a year with no date for a fix of something that can cause a crash without prior warning. There doesnt seem to be any urgency to fix something that can cause such a big problem. I have no choice other than to keep driving my truck hoping for the best. Any help with this is most appreciated. Thank you for your time, G. May
