I was rear-ended by a truck in my prius and my seat laid back on impact. I'm unaware if that was an intended thing or not but it potentially could have injured my neck. My car is currently in a storage lot awaiting the adjustor's inspection so it is available for inspection if needed. No warning lights were available and it hasn't been recreated by the dealer

The contact stated that upon impact, the front driver's seat unexpectedly reclined and struck the rear passenger’s seat. The contact was concerned about the movement of the seat and stated that an occupant seated directly behind the driver's seat could have been injured. The rear bumper, trunk, and rear body structure sustained damage from the crash. The contact stated that the force of the impact caused the rear driver’s side body panels to flare outward and become deformed. No additional property damage had occurred from the crash. The vehicle remained in the roadway following the crash. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact sustained neck injuries, whiplash, and emotional trauma from the crash. Medical attention was sought. The Uber passenger inside the vehicle was also transported from the scene to seek medical attention and treatment; however, the extent of the injury was unknown. Someone rear-ended my Prius and they were driving a Ford 250 truck pulling a large flatbed truck that had a huge box on it. My seat went forward and backwards - I slammed my knee under the dashboard and then slammed by head into the headrest and I could not reach the pedals after this. I have repeatedly asked the collision center to look at it because there is nothing about it on the report of the estimate of repairs. My adult son was a passenger in the front and his seat didn't move.
NHTSA complaint #11552860 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
The driver's side car seat automatic seat adjustment (backwards/forwards) failed all of a sudden with no warning. It was working when I parked the car to go into an office for an appointment. When I came back out to the car, it wouldn't work and was making strange noises. I called the dealer and they said to bring in the car to be looked at. This is a safety issue because it was hard to reach the pedal to drive the car without pillows pushing me forward in the car seat. The car was taken to the dealer twice and I was finally told that the track the car goes forward and backward on was worn out and the motor would need to be replaced. I was quoted $3K for the repair because the warranty had expired and the car seat needed to be removed to make the repairs.

The contact owned a 2016 Toyota Prius. The contact stated that while switching lanes, the vehicle was rear-ended by another vehicle driving at 30 MPH. The contact's front driver's side seat backrest inadvertently moved backward, which caused her shins to hit the dashboard under the steering wheel during impact. None of the air bags deploy upon impact. The contact later received medical attention at the hospital for injuries to her shins. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000.

Originally, Toyota issued a safety recall in 2014 to address the inverter defect in model years 2010 to 2014, an attempt to fix the problem on about 800,000 cars in the U.S. by modifying software that controls the hybrid electrical system. It was intended to fix the overheating problems. The inverter controls the power flowing between the battery and electrical motors. The inverter boosts the battery from 200 - 500 volts. They inspected my car saying it was in excellent condition. After, the software upgrade i had major problems. My original Prius battery with around 65,000 miles stopped holding a charge. My 12 volt battery also died shortly after. And my power outlets in my got super hot and spiratually worked off and on. And my driver seat gets hot when i turn on car even though seat button is off. I am sweating all the time. Plus, i have skin conditions and asma. I talked to dimitri, and they tried to charge me 1200for unnecessary repair. Also, failed to call NHTSA as promised

Hi, After being parked for about 1.5 hrs my back seat on the drivers side caught on fire. I understand this is where a battery is and that newer cars of this brand have had recalls for this problem.

THE TOYOTA PRIUS 2006 WAS HIT FROM BEHIND (REAR ENDED) ON 05/13/2021 AND DRIVER'S SEAT COLLAPSED BACKWARDS, CAUSING A HEAD INJURY. THIS WAS NOT EXPECTED AND IS NOT ACCEPTABLE BY ANY SAFETY STANDARD. FORTUNATELY THERE WERE NO OTHER OCCUPANTS IN THE VEHICLE. THIS WAS A CHAIN COLLISION AND THE PRIUS WAS STATIONARY WHEN IT WAS HIT IN A SECONDARY COLLISION AND STILL THIS HAPPENED, WHAT IF OUR CAR WAS HIT IN THE PRIMARY COLLISION OR WHAT IF THERE WAS A CHILD ON THE BACK SEAT?! THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY BEHIND WAS ALSO STATIONARY BEFORE IT EXPERIENCED THE FIRST ORDER COLLISION. THESE SEATS DESERVE A SAFETY RECALL. ONE CAN FIND MANY OTHER SEAT COLLAPSING EVENTS, EVEN WITH CHILDREN KILLED OR BRAIN DAMAGED ON BACK SEATS. PLACE OF THE ACCIDENT: THE CHESAPEAKE EXPRESSWAY (168). ACCIDENT REPORT ATTACHED.

MY 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS HAS LEATHER SEATS AND THE PASSENGER SIDE LIGHT IS COMING ON. ACCORDING TO TOYOTA RECALL THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE LEATHER SEATS AND CALIBRATION.THE SENSOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IS NOT COMMUNICATING WITH THE FRONT AIRBAG SO WHEN YOU SIT DOWN AND BUCKLE IN IT DOES NOT ACTIVATE THE FRONT AIRBAG. A SEATBELT AND AIRBAG LIGHT IS CONSTANTLY ON.

EVEN THOUGH THIS VEHICLE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS CASE, I CONSIDER THAT IT IS VERY RELEVANT THAT I EXPRESS MY CONCERNS WITH THIS VEHICLE DUE TO THE FACT THAT I TRADED IN MY 2015 TOYOTA PRIUS FOR A VEHICLE THAT PROVIDED AN UNSAFE DRIVING EXPERIENCE TO MY FAMILY WHICH WAS THE 2017 TOYOTA PRIUS WITH VIN NUMBER [XXX] AFTER TAKING IT TO THREE DIFFERENT TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS TO BE EVALUATED BY TWO DIFFERENT TOYOTA FIELD INSPECTORS FROM TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS, TOYOTA MOTOR VEHICLES MADE THE CHOICE NOT TO LISTEN TO OUR CONCERNS AND REJECTED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY PROVIDING ME A SAFETY HAZARD PRODUCT IN ORDER TO AVOID LEMON LAW AND/OR MAKE ME AWARE OF THE HIGH LEVELS OF EMF THAT THE VEHICLE HAD. ON APRIL 18 2019, WE NEVER WERE TOLD BY THE SECOND FIELD INSPECTOR SENT BY TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS THE RESULTS OF HIS FINDINGS. BIG TWO TOYOTA TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE SITUATION AND CONVINCED US TO TRADE IN THIS VEHICLE FOR A NEW 2019 TOYOTA SIENNA. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

DURING THE ACCIDENT, THE BACK SEAT FELL DOWN. I AM ASSUMING IT HAPPENED DUE TO THE FORCE OF THE IMPACT BUT IT WAS TERRIFYING BECAUSE SOMETIMES WE HAVE OUR CHILDREN REAR FACING IN THAT VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS REAR-ENDED ON THE FREEWAY AND THE GLASS WAS BROKEN IN THE BACK FROM THE IMPACT.

ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 12, 2018 I FOUNT THE CAR SEAT SEVERELY SMOLDERING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE CARE WAS FILLED WITH BROWN SMOKE AND TOXIC FUMES. THE SEAT WAS COMPLETELY BURNED AND MELTED AND TOXIC RESIDUE. FIRE DEPARTMENT PUT OUT FIRE WITH WATER. CAR SEAT HEATER APPARENTLY DID NOT TURN OFF AND SMOLDERED ALL NIGHT. TOYOTA GIVING ME THE RUN AROUND, DELAYING INVESTIGATION AT LEAST 5 WEEKS OR MORE. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN GARAGE, LAST DRIVEN BRIEF DISTANCE EVENING BEFORE. GARAGE NOW WITH TOXIC FUMES AND RESIDUE. CAR LIKELY TOTALED, AND TOYOTA TRYING TO GET OUT OF ANY ASSISTANCE/RESPONSIBILITY. THEY ARE ON PURPOSE BEING VERY DIFFICULT, AND FORCING ME TO COMPLY WITH THEIR AGENDA, OR LOSE OPTION FOR THEIR TAKING SOME RESPONSIBILITY.

PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR OPERATES INTERMITTENTLY. REPORTED TO DEALER FOR REPAIR, HOWEVER DEALER STATED THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER PROBLEM PERSISTS INTERMITTENTLY. THIS SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE THE SEAT SENSOR PROBLEM FOR WHICH A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR SOME 2009 PRIUS MODELS (13V014000). OUR PRIUS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. PERHAPS THIS RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V014000 (AIR BAGS, SEATS); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.

THERE IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THE HEAD RESTS ON THIS VEHICLE. THE DEFAULT SETTING IS MUCH TOO FAR FORWARD, CAUSING A FORWARD HEAD AND NECK POSTURE, RESULTING IN HEADACHES, NECK PAIN, ETC., AND MAKE IT VERY UNCOMFORTABLE TO DRIVE, AND DIFFICULT TO CHECK BLIND SPOTS. IT ALSO FORCES THE DRIVER'S HEAD VERY CLOSE THE AIRBAG, WHICH IS SUPPOSEDLY VERY DANGEROUS. IF YOU MOVE THE SEAT BACK, THEN YOU ARE TOO RECLINED TO DRIVE ATTENTIVELY. ONLINE SEARCHES AND COMPLAINTS TO THE DEALER TELL ME I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS, AND IT IS SUPPOSEDLY THE RESULT OF NHTSA REGULATIONS. THIS IS TERRIBLE IF TRUE.
