Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain 2005-2011 4Runner, Highlander, Sequoia, and Sienna, 2005-2010 Avalon and Tundra, 2006-2008 Camry Solara, 2006-2010 Highlander hybrid, 2006-2011 Rav4 and Tacoma, 2007-2010 FJ Cruiser, 2007-2011 Camry hybrid, 2009-2010 Venza, 2010-2012 Prius, 1988-1990 and 2005-2010 Camry, and 1989 and 2009-2010 Corolla vehicles equipped with aftermarket accessory seat heaters with a copper strand heating element. The electrical wiring in the seat heaters may be damaged when the seat cushion is compressed.
Risk: If damaged, the copper strand heating element may short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire.

The affected vehicles may experience compression of the seat cushion which may damage the seat heater wiring.
Risk: Damage to the seat heater wiring could cause the wires to short, increasing the risk of the seat burning and causing personal injury to the occupant.

SUSPENSION:REAR:SPRINGS:LEAF SPRING ASSEMBLY:LEAF
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2005-2011 Toyota Tacoma Pre-Runner and 4x4 vehicles manufactured September 14, 2009, to October 11, 2010. In the affected vehicles, one of the leaf springs may fracture due to stress or corrosion. While being driven, the broken leaf could move out of position and contact surrounding components including the fuel tank, possibly puncturing the tank and causing a fuel leak.
Risk: If the fuel tank leaks fuel from being punctured, there is an increased risk of a fire.

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2008-2014 FJ Cruiser and Tacoma vehicles equipped with accessory wheels and tires installed by Toyota or dealers prior to the vehicle's first sale. The affected vehicles may list incorrect spare tire size and/or cold tire inflation information on the tire placard. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 110, "Tire Selection and Rims for Passenger Cars."
Risk: If the spare tire is inflated to the incorrect pressure provided on the placard, tire failure may occur while it is being driven on, increasing the risk of a crash.

AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
Toyota is recalling certain model year 2006-2008 RAV4, 2006-2010 Yaris, 2008-2010 Highlander, and 2009-2010 Tacoma, Corolla, Corolla Matrix and General Motors Pontiac Vibe vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the steering column assembly contains electrical connections to the driver's airbag module housed in a spiral cable assembly, which includes a Flexible Flat Cable (FFC). Due to the shape and location of the FFC's retainer, the FFC could become damaged when the steering wheel is turned.
Risk: If the FFC is damaged, connectivity to the driver's air bag module could be lost and the air bag deactivated. The failure of the driver's air bag to deploy in the event of a crash that typically necessitates deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver.

SEAT BELTS
Toyota is recalling certain model year 2005-2010 Tacoma Access Cab vehicles manufactured September 14, 2004, through March 29, 2010; and model year 2011 Tacoma Access Cab vehicles manufactured July 1, 2010, through September 7, 2011. If the access doors are repeatedly and forcefully closed, the screws that attach the seat belt pre-tensioner to the seat belt retractor can loosen over time. If the screws loosen completely, the seat belt pre-tensioner and the retractor spring cover could detach from the seat belt retractor.
Risk: If the seat belt pre-tensioner detaches from the seat belt assembly, the seat belt pre-tensioner will not perform as designed, increasing the risk of injury in a severe crash.

Risk: An inaccurate label could lead to owners overloading their vehicles and tires. An overloaded vehicle can result in a tire failure which may result in a vehicle crash, personal injury, or property damage.

Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain models interspersed through model years 2009 through 2013 as follows: model year 2009-2012 Tacoma, 4Runner, Camry, Camry Hybrid, Prius, and RAV4; model year 2009-2010 Avalon, FJ Cruiser, and Highlander Hybrid; model year 2010-2013 model year Corolla, Sienna and Tundra; model year 2009-2013 Highlander and Venza; model year 2012 Prius V; and model year 2010-2012 Sequoia. During modification by SET to include accessories such as leather seat covers, seat heaters or headrest DVD systems, these vehicles may not have had the passenger seat occupant sensing system calibration tested. Without passing the calibration test, the occupant sensing system may not operate as designed.
Risk: If the front passenger seat occupant sensing system is out of calibration, the front passenger airbags may not deploy or they may deploy inappropriately for the passenger's size and position. This could increase the risk of personal injury during the event of a vehicle crash necessitating airbag deployment.

Issue: This recall is for certain block heater kits installed on certain vehicles or sold as accessories at Toyota or Lexus dealerships. On certain vehicles, the engine block heater cable may not have enough heat protection and could be damaged by high temperatures. If this happens, the cable could short circuit while plugged in, and cause the wiring to overheat or melt. Suspension
On certain vehicles, the leaf springs in the rear suspension could fracture due to stress and corrosion. This could result in a fuel leak which, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire causing injury and/or property damage. As a result, the driver's airbag may not function as intended, causing the instrument panel airbag warning lamp to illuminate. Failure of the driver's airbag to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury to the seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will replace the spiral cable assembly.

On certain vehicles equipped with an optional tonneau cover where the front-most panel can be opened with the vehicle ignition key, the lock cylinder could bind. If the lock cylinder were to bind in the open position, the panel may not remain closed and the tonneau cover assembly could separate from the vehicle while it is being driven. This could potentially result in property damage and pose a hazard to other road users. Correction: Dealers will affect repairs when service parts become available. In the interim, the panel release mechanism will be disabled or the tonneau cover removed, at the owner's choice.

On vehicles with the Access Cab body configuration, fasteners within the driver and passenger front seat belt assemblies could loosen if the access doors are repeatedly and forcefully closed over an extended period of time. On certain four wheel drive vehicles, the joint portion of the drive shaft may include a component that developed cracks during the manufacturing process. These cracks may eventually lead to separation of the drive shaft resulting in the shaft contacting the road. This situation could lead to a loss of control causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will inspect the vehicle and replace the front drive shaft if necessary.

On certain vehicles, the accelerator pedal may become stuck in the wide open position due to an unsecured or incompatible driver's floor mat. A stuck open accelerator pedal may result in very high vehicle speeds and make it difficult to stop the vehicle, which could cause a crash, serious injury or death. Correction: Dealers will reconfigure the shape of the accelerator pedal. Certain models will also have the shape of the floor underneath the accelerator pedal modified and/or a brake override system installed.

Took 2010 Toyota Tacoma to independent garage for a problem with tire pressure sensor. The sensor was fixed, however employee of the garage made us aware that there was substantial rust/corrosion on the Tacoma frame. Have made 2 calls this last week to the Toyota Customer Relations/Brand Engagement specialist. Gave the representative all information that we have on the truck and talked to them about the rusted/corroded frame. They had stated that on our particular vehicle that Toyota had sent us out on 11/2017 and 11/2018 a warranty enhancement letter that had addressed this problem. We have never received either of these communications from Toyota, because if we had, we would have pursued this information with them. The main reason I know we would have pursued this, is that prior to the purchase of this truck we owned a 2000 Toyota Tacoma with a rusted frame recall and was able to have that issued resolved with Toyota. Toyota now says that the Warranty Enhancement program has expired, and there is nothing that they can do for us to resolve the rust issue. I stated to them that their records may showed that it was mailed twice to us, but we never received it, because if we had, we would have remembered it, given our prior Tacoma truck rust issue, and not just disregarded it. We have taken several pictures of the rust on the frame of the Tacoma, and never once did Toyota asked to have us forward them on to them. The pictures that we have show the degree of rust/corrosion/holes on the frame. I feel as they were not at all concerned with the safety of driving this truck and it’s declining frame safety. We were the only owner of this truck and bought it brand new in 2009. Because we feel there is definite safety issue to us, we are very disappointed with Toyota’s response.

The contact stated that while the vehicle was with an independent mechanic for a scheduled service, the contact was informed that the frame underneath the engine was rusted. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that an unknown recall associated with the failure had expired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

2010 Toyota Tacoma with 91K miles have frame corrosion and now has holes. I contacted Toyota motor sales USA, Inc. and informed them why I NEVER received a recalled and they said it was mailed May 2019 and expired in 2022-there’s nothing they can do and if I went to the dealership for my inspections they would of known of the recall instead of going to an independent dealer. I’ve attached current photos showing the extent of corrosion over the years. Unbelievable, the recall should still be open.

I am the original owner of a 2010 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport, 4 door, 4WD, with a 6' bed, VIN # [XXX] , with 215902 miles. During the replacement of the leaf springs on 1/27/26, under recall #14V-604, I was informed by the Toyota dealership that installed the leaf springs that there was extensive corrosion on various points on the frame to the point where it was unsafe to drive. The frame has developed severe perforation and rust-through. There are large holes in the frame, and sections missing. The corrosion is spreading across multiple points, making the vehicle unsafe and at risk of structural failure while driving. I called Toyota and they said the frame recall expired in 2022. I will be asking Toyota if they will still replace the frame as a "Goodwill " replacement. I told Toyota that I was never made aware of this recall or warranty extension and never received any letter regarding it. I did receive other recall notices for this VIN but none for the frame issues. I am waiting for a response from Toyota on what action they will take, if any, to support their product. chassis/frame was recalled on warranty that Toyota did not inform me of and they refused to do anything about it. They said two regular mail letters were sent out to me. I have never received them. The framing of my vehicle is so bad that an accident was waiting to happen when I took my vehicle foreign oil exchange. I asked them to look at the muffler because it was hanging and that’s when they noticed the situation and they stated that you are very lucky that you are alive because the framing could have collapse on the road. I called Toyota and they said the warranty expired on 2019. I told them that I was never aware of this recall but and never received any letter regarding it. I am filing this complaint. I am asking for the company to provide a part and labor it. If they first have contacted me this situation could have been fixed. There has been lawsuits regarding the same situation. if they refuse to fix this situation, I will have to file a lawsuit against Toyota for the labor and part that cost roughly $16,500 plus tax. The car runs very well with no other major issues. They did not either send me a letter of the spring leaf recall. I am asking this agency to get involved this has been a major accident

My 2010 Toyota Tacoma frame is rusted and deteriorated. This has been confirmed by my local Toyota dealership (Ira Toyota of Saco , ME) The vehicle has approximately 130,000 miles and is in otherwise good working order. I do not expect a 15 year old Toyota to have a rusted frame, which has become entirely unsafe. Indeed, the Toyota dealership refused to even put the truck up on the lift given the unsafe condition of the frame . I understand that 2005 -2010 Tacoma trucks had this same issue and there was a class action on 21 May 2017. I also understand that the frame recall expired in 2022. Regardless, I contacted Toyota asking if they would still replace the frame and they responded in the negative. I have attached photos of the frame and a copy of Toyota’s response. Please advise. Seeing a deer in the road I slowed down only for the truck to veer to the left and almost hitting a logging truck. Talking to a mechanic, he told me that it was the bushings of the lower control arms at fault. Having no choice I bought two new control arms and had a shop put them on. The chassis/ frame work of the pickup is rusted, corroded/ rotted. This is a known issue in there was a settlement on a lawsuit related to the problem for this year model and make vehicle and Toyota was responsible to fix the problem at no cost to the customer. I called the Toyota dealership and is being told that there is no outstanding recall for this issue for this VIN#.
