I own a 2025 Volvo XC60 plug-in hybrid (PHEV). The vehicle has recurring software defects that create a serious safety risk. First, the infotainment and central control system repeatedly reboots while I am driving. On a single trip from Washington, DC to Burlington, Vermont, the system rebooted approximately 8 to 10 times. It has also rebooted within minutes of starting the vehicle during local driving. Each reboot blanks the center display, which disables the backup/parking camera and interrupts the speedometer and driver-information display, climate controls, and other functions. Losing these displays and controls while the vehicle is in motion is a significant safety hazard. Second, after installing a Volvo over-the-air (OTA) software update, the vehicle was rendered completely inoperable. It would not unlock or start and could not be accessed through the key fob or the Volvo Cars app, and it had to be towed to the dealer. Based on numerous owner reports, failed OTA updates that disable the vehicle this way are a known, recurring problem on these models. Third, the front and rear parking cameras have both cracked during normal use, with no impact damage, and the vehicle displays a "parking cameras need cleaning" message at nearly every stop. No crash or injury has occurred. I have reported these issues to the selling dealer and to Volvo customer care. The reboot and lockout problems are recurring and have not been durably resolved.

Windshield leaks water into cabin. Volvo dealership charged $190 to diagnose problem. Told me I need a new windshield but they do not do glass replacement or repairs. They said sealant is bad at top of windshield. This is the original factory windshield. They referred me to a independent glass company who quoted $900 - $1285 for replacement. Cannot repair only install new windshield. This seems to be a known problem with Volvo cars and the sealant that was used at factory? Not covered by insurance. Car was parked outside during rain.

While parked in full sun the windshield cracked spontaneously, perhaps the result of thermal expansion. The linear length of the resulting crack was over 12 inches, running through the center sensor array. The car was inspected by a Volvo Service Center manager who found no evidence of impact. Nevertheless, Volvo conducted a formal inspection at an offsite facility and declined to warrant the defect. Spontaneous windshield failure is a clear risk to drivers and passengers.

The driver's side mirror repositions itself downward, upward, or outward when unlocking and opening a door. It infrequently repositions while driving as well. These occurrences put me and others at risk by increasing my blind spot when I need to change lanes. Two Volvo dealers have reproduced the mirror changing positions when unlocking and opening the door, but a few times they were not able to get the car to reproduce it. Technicians have performed software updates, deleted and reprogrammed the keys to the car, and performed a factory reset on the infotainment center to no avail.
NHTSA complaint #11724198 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
Water leaking from the windshield seal (possibly the moonroof) gets into electronics under the dash and causes the transmission to stop working properly and also causes the engine to just stop completely. It happened 4 years ago and Volvo replaced a module but it happened again a week ago.

I decided to clean off my windshield with the windshield wiper spray and wipers and noticed my windshield would not turn on at all. I heard no noise from the motor coming on nothing happened when I attempted to turn them on. I knew rain was coming in the next few days so I was worried I was going to have visibility issues. Contacted the dealer who stated they had no loaner available. I had to drive in the rain with no windshield wipers. When I finally dropped my vehicle off to get serviced and explained the issue, the tech explained this has been a common with issue with many people especially because of the snow, he states “people keep turning the wipers on with snow on the windshield.” He also said his 6 month old Volvo had the same issue. However, I have never turned my windshield wipers on after snow without removing the snow off first so this was not the case. With multiple issues with different people, the tech issue’s with his own 6 month old car it sounded like a recall issue to me. I was told the motor had burned out on my 2024 Volvo XC60 that I have had for just under 2 years and it was no longer under warranty because I was 1,000 miles over my warranty. No error messages appeared on my screen to let me know there were any issues with my windshield wipers at all. This is a huge safety issue, i was not made aware there was an issue if the rain began after I was driving I could’ve been in accident hurt myself or/and others. I know there is a recall for Volvo trucks for windshield wiper motors.

On Wednesday December 3, 2025 the front windshield wipers stopped working on my wife's 2023 Volvo XC60. The stalk to control the wipers was operating as normal. It was able to spray the windshield wiper fluid and operate the rear window wiper as expected. This happened that day that we received unexpected lake effect snow in our area. We immediately scheduled an appointment at dealership we purchased the vehicle from and dropped it off on Friday December 5, 2025. A few moments ago we received a call from the service department that there is an internal service bulletin regarding this issue. They explained that there is a process where they have to go back and forth with Volvo to diagnose the issue. They could not estimate when the issue would be resolved or what was the cause. The dealership was out of loaners, so they gave us an option to either wait or drive the vehicle and hope we don't get caught in bad weather until they can identify what is wrong with the wipers. This puts us in a very unsafe vehicle with no recourse. The safety of my wife, myself, and our child are put at risk because of this issue. There was a message that stated that the wipers failed initially on 12-3-2025, but that message never appeared again. This in itself is a safety issue. What if someone was renting the same vehicle when this occurred. The rental car company wouldn't know and they could rent the vehicle to a drive who wouldn't know.

There has been at least 5 incidences where the audio stopped working for the turn signals, navigation stopped, radio stopped and air conditioning stopped. The first 2-3 times the system reset itself. The 4th incident I was driving in torrential rain, the wiper auto sensor stopped and every warning light on the dashboard lit up. As the rain dissipated, the system seemed to clear itself. Today, on my way to the dealership, the turn signal audio stopped, navigation stopped, radio stopped. The service advisor verified the situation. His response, per Volvo instructions, tell the customer to reset the system once a month. There's no written instructions to resolve the problem. The service advisor admitted this is an ongoing problem and corporate is making no attempt to resolve it. Is Volvo waiting for a life threatening situation before addressing the problem. I can't rely upon the computer system to function properly. Volvo has a responsibility to its car owners for supposedly being one of the safest cars on the road. This vehicle is becoming unreliable. Thank you.

My 2025 Volvo XC60 Plug-in hybrid Ultimate package was built with laminated rear passenger windows. The car is less than one-year old and both rear passenger windows are very cloudy (see attached), obstructing the vision of the driver in situations such as when changing lanes or parking. This could easily contribute to an accident on the highway or endanger children or pets in driveway conditions. The occurrence of this defect can be found in multiple social media posts and appears to be limited to the XC60 model with the Ultimate package. My Volvo dealer agreed that both windows have significant cloudiness during my August 2025 service visit. Even after submitting photos of the cloudiness, Volvo corporate, while acknowledging the condition, refuses to remedy the defect.

The 360 camera system stopped working on my 2025 Volvo XC60 PHEV today without warning. When I put the vehicle in reverse, the camera view window showed up on the screen with a top down of the vehicle, but the surroundings were black and each camera symbol showed up as orange with a cross out through it. Rebooting the system twice did not solve the issue. The software version is 3.7.0 which is the most up to date release.

The rear side windows on my 2025 Volvo XC60 B5 Plus AWD exhibit a persistent “smoky” or hazy appearance when viewed through the rearview mirror or directly from inside the cabin. The issue is most noticeable during daytime when light hits the glass at an angle, or at night when headlights from other vehicles shine through the rear windows. The affected glass appears to have a bluish or foggy tint that creates a distorted or “cold” appearance, reducing rearward visibility. This appears to be a defect with the window glass itself—possibly related to factory tinting, lamination, or an optical coating. The windows are original and available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: This visual distortion significantly impairs rear visibility, especially when relying on mirrors at night or during lane changes. It compromises safe operation of the vehicle by creating unclear visual cues. Passengers and other road users are at risk due to reduced driver awareness of approaching vehicles or obstacles. Dealer Confirmation: I have not yet received formal acknowledgment or confirmation from the dealership, but I plan to raise the issue at my next service appointment. Online forums and other owner reports suggest this is a known issue affecting multiple recent Volvo models. Inspection: The vehicle has not yet been inspected for this issue by Volvo, police, or insurance representatives. I am willing to make the vehicle available for inspection. Warning Messages: There were no warning lamps or dashboard alerts associated with this issue. The condition was present from the time of delivery and has not worsened but remains consistently visible.

Faulty seal in OEM windshield sealant/silicone causing water to leak on the inside of car, headliner, and inner windshield. Can cause visibility issues and mildew.
NHTSA complaint #11630743 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
The windshield has come loose at the top allowing water to get into the vehicle when it rains. Water pools on the floor of driver’s side, the headliner gets wet, and the interior smells moldy.

I am writing to address a recurring safety issue with my 2023 Volvo XC60 B5 AWD related to the windshield wipers. I believe this issue poses a serious safety risk. Specifically, when snow accumulates in the area where the wiper arms retract—hidden behind the hood for aerodynamic and stylistic reasons—the wipers stop functioning until the snow is cleared. This has happened to me twice during the winter of 2022-2023 and once during the winter of 2023-2024. While driving in heavy snow, the wipers would suddenly cease movement when sufficient snow accumulated in that “well”. There were no warning lights of any kind. This was sometimes triggered by braking, which caused snow to slide off the roof into that area. Once the snow accumulates to a certain level, the wipers become inoperable, resulting in zero visibility. This situation demands immediate action, regardless of my surroundings. Fortunately, on all occasions, I was on quiet roads, allowing me to stop safely. However, during the first incident, I was caught off guard and collided with a snowbank at low speed, causing no damage. Clearing the snow from the wiper well is not straightforward. The wiper arms must be placed in service mode to access that area, but they will not do so once they have stopped functioning. After the initial incidents in 2022-2023, I took my vehicle to the dealer, who evaluated the issue and “reset” the wipers. Unfortunately, this was after the snow season, so I couldn't determine if it made a difference until the following winter. Although the winter of 2023-2024 was relatively mild, the problem resurfaced during a late-season storm. I am particularly concerned about the potential consequences if these incidents were to occur at higher speeds on a busy highway. The risk of a serious crash involving myself and my passengers is significant.

My Volvo XC60 rear windows turns blurry in the heat. For long I didn't bothered, but recently I have noticed that there are more people facing the same issue with 23 & 25 models. Please see the attached picture. Volvo America is aware about the issue but they have not taken any action.

When I purchased my 2014 Volvo XC 60 I was told that it was in good overall condition and believe that after driving it for the vehicle in full and brought it back because it needed a current inspection. Within four days of taking it home after the inspection, the PCV valve went bad and I had a minor leak in the middle center top of the windshield that dripped in and left watermarks on my headliner. So again I called the dealer and explained to them what was going on. I took it back they corrected the PCV valve and said that they had my windshield Repaired and sealed by a professional windshield installer. Once again, I picked up my new car and I went home with it. The first rainstorm we got the inside of my car was flooded to the point where it shorted out my sunroof switch so now I can use my sunroof and there is mildew smell all through my car , floorboard on the driver side side gets soaked along with everything else from about the center all the way to the left and down the side of the windshield I feel that more than half of that windshield is not secured properly in there and sealed and could lead to serious injury to myself or possibly Someone else. I have reached out to them several times And after I picked it up when they stated everything was fixed and good to go, it was nothing but a nightmare my Car has a massive leaking windshield around more than 50% of it at least. I contacted the auto dealer once again and explained what was going on and how severe the situation had become. The service manager assured me that they work on the windshield was guaranteed and under warranty and he had a switch on hand to Replace my control switch for my sunroof and that he would contact their windshield guy and get him back there to make it right at no cost to me. In addition he said he would also supply me the loaner so I would not be without a car until mine was definitely fixed and ready, that was the last I heard from them and that was almost 3 weeks ago
