FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Year: 2019 Make: GMC Model: Suburban Mileage: Approximately 125,000 miles (purchased under 90,000 miles) 1. Transmission Failure My vehicle is experiencing clear signs of transmission failure, including: •Hard downshifting/clunking •RPM fluctuations while cruising •Shuddering between approximately 30–50 mph •Vibrations while idling •Hesitation and irregular shifting These symptoms have progressively worsened and are consistent with widespread complaints I have found from other 2019 Suburban owners. This appears to be a known issue affecting multiple vehicles. 2. Rear Liftgate / Electrical Malfunction The rear trunk/liftgate has closed on its own without warning multiple times. I have personally been struck in the head several times as a result. This presents a serious injury risk, especially for families loading children or cargo. There is clearly an electrical or sensor malfunction causing this behavior. 3. Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) System Activating Randomly The most alarming issue is that the automatic emergency braking system has activated on its own multiple times while driving on the turnpike with no obstruction present. This has nearly caused accidents on several occasions. Unexpected braking at highway speeds creates an extremely dangerous situation for both my family and surrounding drivers. These issues are not minor inconveniences — they are serious safety hazards. Sudden braking, unintended liftgate closure, and transmission failure all create significant risk of injury or collision. Given the number of similar complaints publicly reported by other owners, I am requesting that NHTSA formally investigate these defects and determine whether a recall should be issued for affected 2019 GMC Suburban vehicles. I am extremely concerned for the safety of my family and others on the road. Please confirm receipt of this complaint and advise if additional information is needed. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
The check engine and traction control light came on in my car. This was accompanied by a clanking sound, shaking. The panel said “ SERVICE ESC” “ service traction control” and “ forward collision system unavailable” The Chevrolet light logo on the back of my car will also not turn off occasionally whenever the car is turned off.

Transmission will not go into drive or reverse. This also happens when car is in drive going down the road it will all of a sudden lose power and not go when pressing gas pedal. Vehicle has to completely shut off several times before it will go back into gear. No warning before it started. This can be dangerous when it happens in traffic and I can’t move car out of the road. It has not been inspected yet. Also blind spot warning does not always says it needs serviced.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
i pulled on to the road and i heard a loud knocking and my vehicle started skipping and wouldn't go. the lights on the dash lit up and said, "brake failure" and "emergency brake failure" and i had no brakes. I managed to coast into a parking lot. The engine light was on. I turned the vehicle off and waited about 5 minutes and turned it back on, The engine light remained. The first time this happened I was going down the road and the vehicle started sputtering, the emergency brake light came on the dash and the car shut off. It has a rough idle when you start it. I am terrified of this car. I have grandbabies in the car with me, Had i been on the highway either time i would have caused a terrible accident. The dealer says they can't get the car to do it so they can't fix anything. It has happened twice so you know it will again.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
Transmission and Engine Failed. Please inspect. I've had several shops and mechanics inspect. I was towing both times and could have been seriously injured when my transmission went out. Then after that was resolved my engine went out. No symptoms or warnings before incidents occurred.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
I was driving when I received messages saying service ESC, Forward collision System Unavailable, & Service Traction Control. The vehicle began to shake hard when I applied brakes, had loss of power when pressing the gas pedal, and sounded like metal grinding. All of this put my children & I at risk as we were on interstate 35 with cars flying past us and I’m losing power. Initially the spark plugs and coil was were changed to no repair. It was towed to a dealership where they confirmed the lifter & cam failed which put metal in the oil. My only option is a full engine replacement costing 20k on a vehicle that’s 4yrs old. It’s not ok that I have to spend that in order to get my 70k car drivable. Im now without a car, still paying a car note, unable to get my kids places, and having to get help from friends all bc GM can’t build a quality vehicle. I also haven’t been able to get a loaner car. This isn’t happening in only the 6.3L. This is a widely known issue with the 5.3L as well. *There were ZERO warning signs that something was wrong. Drive just fine that morning*

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
I have had my cruise control set and my car will slam on the brakes with no vehicles in front of my car or on each side. This has happened multiple times, it doesn’t matter if I am going 40MPH or 60+MPH. I have taken it in and they say there is nothing they can do for the issue. I’m worried for the safety of myself, my family, and my unborn child. As well as any cars around (behind me potentially) when this happens. I do not want to unintentionally cause an accident.

The transmission was acting weird and felt like it was revving up and down while going 20-30 mph. After turning into my neighborhood there was a loud clunck like some dropped off the truck and it completely fell out of gear and just rolled to a stop. Shifted it into park, turned the truck off and back on and put it back in drive it went into gear and allowed me to drive to my house but still acted like it was about to drop out of gear completely again. My neighbor has a 2015 Silverado and 2017 Tahoe and both transmissions did the same thing and had to be replaced, all between 100-125k miles. The blind side system constantly goes off when there’s no threat

BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS
The check engine light came on at 14k miles indicating there was an emissions error. The brakes squeal and have had to be replaced 3 times since the original purchase in March of 2024. After the third replacement of brakes they still squeal. Even if the car is not braking it makes the noise. The radio shuts on and off constantly. Chevy reported they are aware of the issue but there is no fix at this time. The dealerships reset the radio but the issue persists. I’ve had to park the car because I’m afraid the brake issue is much more than they’re willing to admit.
